If the exact same joke had been made by Rush Limbaugh about Michelle Obama's daughters, this should would have laid into him (and rightfully so). She only had one daughter with her that day, and it was the underage one.

I can see where Palin is coming from, as a concerned and protective mother, but all this publicity isn't going to do much good to her daughter's personal life as well.

If I remember right, Letterman didn't specifically mention her 14-year-old daughter in the joke. It wasn't known at the time that it was her 14 year old and not Bristol that was at the baseball game with her. Come on- think. Would David Letterman seriously suggest statutory rape? This Sarah Palin loves to hear her own voice and loves to be in the spotlight, so she'll use any excuse to get her mug on national television.

Letterman finally apologized. What the hell took him so long? Letterman should shove his politics up his ass. Carson did the Tonight show for 30 years and nobody ever knew what his politics were.

I always had a hunch Letterman was a thoughtful Republican, which is fine with me. Did a host anywhere give McCain more interview time last election? Did a host anywhere skewer President Clinton more when he was in power?
Letterman is alright; he might make mistakes sometimes, but it is not due to his politics.
