Amazing machine, so far only had time to sit on it but have to go back for a test ride, wonder if Givi make accessories for it yet, we love the use of the Maxima TopBox. still love my 919 Hornet.
Definitely a niche market, the only real benefits might be increased visibility and a higher level of idiot-proof cornering stability. Plus greater wet-road tractibility and near-zero laydown risk.
Cargo space up front, reverse gear make it a great utilitarian vehicle that will get you on the HOV lane. Turning around in a sandy area is idiot(me) proof especially if you are in a hurry.
Having a motorcycle is not all about which one outperforms the other. Every body has their style and likes and dislikes. Same thing with your soulmate. She doesn't have to be the tallest or the leggy-est, or the pretty-est, or the biggest breast, etc. That's why there is such a following of vintage and antique bikes; even though they are old technology many of us worship their style, their ride, and their quirks.
but isnt that just boring :P i fall asleep in bmws the only cars i know that comes close to stuff like this is old 70s-80s cars with there crazy bouncy castle suspension systems and manual steering they dont make cars fun like that anymore even snow use to be fun but now they have a snow mode to make that boring too heh
I think youre wrong buddy and that what you say only speaks of certain peoples opinion. Im in SoCal, and they seem to be everywhere...Im taking a test ride next week. It might take away the leaning aspect, but not everyone looks forward to that.
I am taking delivery on Friday July 11 2008! I feel as though that is my "due date" for my "baby"! She will be painted black to purple chromatic, (very fine metal flake), & a single longstem rose on the hood like the "Vampire" game logo!
Yeah, mine's a girly girl bike, but it's ok, I'm a girl!
They are a blast. I've been riding cycles since I was 14, & sold my cruiser for this one! Rode a prototype a year ago, then rode a production model & the 2nd ride was the decision maker!
reduced aerodynamics, heavier due to additional steering, more complex due to additional steering, less gas milleage due to heavier machinery, a regular bike would be a superior buy...what is this machines niche?
Hey, just a question, i dont know much about the spyder, but do you think it is possible to put bigger tires on the front and take off those fenders over the front tires. I think bigger tires on the front would give it a more aggresive look.
It actually has very advanced electronic controls to sense impending doom. Bike will reduce throttle and apply brakes selectively as required. Idiot proof.
good vids

This commercial is misleading. You have to be fat, crippled and gay to ride one of these. He seems to walk just fine.

Can it turn as good as a motorcycle going at high speeds without flipping?

Not a fan of the three wheelers, narrow bike would outperform it in every way (except for keeping idiots upright).
Training wheels for squids.

It ruins the best part of motorcyling , no lean in the corners . Sure not my idea of how to build a bike . I predict it will be a miserable falure .

Niche? Those who have lots of money, and can't ride - much like the "Uber Harley" folks. Only these guys can't balance... (grin)

Maybe disabled riders.

Yes, I didn't think about that...excellent actually.
contributor34 3 years ago
They didn't address stability issues. Since it doesn't lean, I would think it might be dangerous at higher speeds you needed to make a sudden swerve.
contributor34 4 years ago
I own a Spyder and two big Cruiser bikes....The Spyder is faster than both of them! and is incredibly stable even at high speeds.
