  • Looks like its carrying a bit of power ay ur pullin past those cars with ease

  • @09chocko09 ...and this was just tickling the gas... was it's first day on the road with the new 355... also had the low pressure valve springs for run on period. It's done a low 12.6 1/4 mile on the street tyres... with slicks it could probably get pretty close to 11's... if the Gearbox can handle the slicks... he's already broken one Toyota gearbox on street tyres.

  • i love that tunnel when ur on a car cruise omg the noise

  • sounds wicked

  • if its burning oil why don't you re graph the dizzy?

  • That's all been done on the dyno... has a MSD 6AL.

Been fixed now... Oil rings hadn't bedded in because original hone was not that good... plus apparently a PCV valve ( or something similar) was not working quite right and adding to the bit of oil smoke... all good now thanks.

It's going down the 1/4 again in a week and a half's time... hopefully my brother can set a new PB... Stay tuned..!!

  • Very nice :) What kind of engine has your brother put in it? sound nice :)

  • It's a 308 Block bored and stroked to 355ci... 750 Demon carb... and is about to go back to the mechanics for some new rings and at the same time 4 into 1 Pacemaker extractors. The mechanic wasn't 100% happy with the original cylinder finish and thought it might burn a little oil. He was correct, but it still ran excellent. The new rings and cylinder prep are all being done as "warranty". Thanks for the comment...

  • @FalconXE302 Sounds great! What exhaust did it have in this vid then?

  • @LJTorry5000 - nothing special actually, the mufflers are some cheap brand with Tri-Y headers. The Holden 308 has always had a pretty good noise, guess the tunnel also helps make even mild exhausts sound good.

  • I,m a Ford Man Myself but gotta say I always have loved the HQ + HJ KingsWoods, Premiers + especially Monaros. Yours sounds awesome. Big V8 sounding car going through the tunnel is what I call "Pure Ear Sex".

  • Thanks for the comment... my brother who owns the car will enjoy your comment... I'm a Ford owner myself... but still appreciate good cars no matter what the type... My first car was a HT Kingswood...

  • Hey Clive Janelle Here Do you have any video of me from the Motorplex someone wants me to send them some and I don't have any. Get Nick to text you my number and then I can text you my e mail account and if you can you can send me the link?

  • Graham farmer FWY

  • i cant here it ping......

crazy muscle is where its at even tho im into everything

  • Neither could we... :-)

  • Beautiful sound,. This car seems powerful, how much HP has this engine?

  • Hi GiantGuy... thanks for the comment... There's another vid of the car doing it's best time on the quarter mile...

    watch?v=CYeAozQUVc8

In this vid I invite viewers to guess the horsepower.

There's a lot of video's on TY where people comment... thinking they know how much HP a car has just from a few shots of it cruising, and a few revs.

The 1/4 mile vid, gives everyone a good guide to guess the HP.

Have a guess if you like... I'll let everyone know the HP later...

  • You should see if you can get ahold of a 350 and do a 383 stroker. I'm sure that would be unique over there. Sounded mean!

  • My bother wants to keep it as close to "original" as possible. These cars (Monaro's) are worth heaps kept original. Having said that, I pit crew at the local drags for a mate who has the same model car, Holden Monaro HJ, and he runs a 350 Chev stroked to a 383. Nothing too wild, his has a best of 12.37.

Just added a vi of this car doing 12.74 1/4 mile.

Thanks for your comments.. Have a nice day

  • In my last reply to you, I didn't really say, but Chev's are common place down-under. In the earlier days of the "Monaro" model, you could get 327 and 350 Chev engines. Many people buy 350 Crate motors direct from USA, and the 383 Stroker kit is very popular... Thanks for your comment though... we really like hearing what car enthusiasts from around the world have to say.

  • I think your cars over there are pretty badass. I'd love to be able to go over there sometime to see some. Have a good one man. respect from one guy over here!

  • What engine you got in there?

  • It's a 355 stroker... Original Holden 308 Block. Flat tappet cam shaft, Demon 750 double pumper, headers are too small and will be changed over the winter. Mufflers are straight through with no X or balance pipe. It's now done a 12.74 at the Kwinana motorplex, no slicks.

    Thanks for the question.

  • I like that, "all done below speed limit" lol

  • It was... Honest it was. Speed limit through tunnel is 160 kph ... lol (160kph... just Kiddin')

Seriously, even the third stab was up to about 82 kph, 2 over the limit.

For some reason, most people in Perth slow down to between 40-60 when they go into the tunnel. Maybe they are worried they will never come out the other end, and are wondering whether to stop and have a look in before they proceed!!!!... a bit like stopping to check the river crossing depth before proceeding in your 4WD.
