You've got it down but I feel like there isn't much emotion in there. This song is the most dramatic in the whole show, throw in some rubato and some appropriate dynamic changes and you'll have a really good performance piece on your hands.

Your tempo changed frequently especially around page turns. At parts seemed like your fingers were going so fast they stumbled at parts. The beginning at parts was ehh but picked back up towards the middle to end.

I liked it though! You should've had the camera closer to the piano for better sound. It was awesome, wish I could play that song as fast as you did. :] Awesome job!

I have the music for Defying Gravity, and right at the beginning it says clear out- "Freely, with quiet intensity" That means put some emotion into it. Isn't that what the whole song is about? Being free and wouldn't you have a lot of emotion if you just let go? Good job otherwise though.

I was reading all the comments other people posted, and I can see where they would say this and that about the choppy, and lacking emotion, but the truth is, if *I* could play piano at least HALF as good as what I just watched, I'd be happy. Just listen to the sound track a couple (hundred) times and you'll get the feel for the places that lacked. I'm still impressed, and I'll probably watch it a few more times. :-) Thanks for posting it.

MikeyAC86: Take tempo wherever you want it. Just make sure you understand timing and feel. Jason Robert Brown posted something about this on his website and it's well worth looking into. Your opening is staccato when it needn't be. The eighth rest is only in the right hand! Good job, though!

perhaps he was being artistic and creative in changing the tempo. as a singer, i tend to change the tempo of many songs to enhance certain parts and take away from other melodies that i dont want focused on.

you're a great pianist, but you need to check out the actual tempo and put some phrasing into it so it sounds like music and not just notes that you can play on a piano. its obvious that you have a ton of talent, just hone in to the details...thats what will make you great.
