i have a rena xp2 for 2 years no problems also the rena smart heater is amazing the temp is bang on all the time, i have now just got a 55 gallon rena aqualife a bran new rena xp4 and a 300w rena smart heater just need to set it up
would a rena xp3 be good for a 40 gallon aquarium or a xp2. I would perfer the xp3 because it has more media baskets but it mite be to powerfull when the water comes back into my aquarium it will be coming back with more force that might disturb fish or plants or make a huge constant current. idk what do you think. plz reply
one thing tho, by cleaning the rocks that well, you probably risk new tank syndrome... the rocks and plants have good bacteria that help witht eh nitrogen cycle...perhaps u should just lightly rinse instead of the full dishwasher treatment...
No. Depends on what I observe as far was water conditions, however, i typically do a big change like this every 10 weeks. Every two weeks, I'll just pull out 15-20% water and put new/clean in.
why do u have to add salt? it does make the water better for the fish? btw it looks better without those fake plants and rock, nice video, keep it up!
These filters are extremely quite. I cannot measure the dB level, since I don't have a way to do it, however even my father comments on how quite they are. He used to keep a tank with an overflow, and all you would hear is a sucking sound. It's not like that at all. I also have hang on the back systems for my 29 and 20 gallon tanks, and the Rena system is quieter than those too. I would certainly recommend these. The other good thing is they are behind doors, which is even more quiet.
I also recommend rena filters. I use an XP3 and have for 3 years now in my 55 gallon tank. It was previously used on a 35 gallon. I bought big since I planned on replacing the tank with a bigger one. This filter is VERY quiet, and totally bulletproof. They cannot be broken in any way.
This filter was used on a tank in my bedroom for about a year. Its that quiet.
I was thinking about trading my hang-on-back filter for a canister filter. I just wanted to know if these filters are loud because my tank is in my bedroom.
I love your tank. Gars are so cute. Post more videos of your aquariums!

Holds up my large pieces of slate rock so they won't fall and crack the glass.

An xP3 would be fine. On the return piece there is an adjustment that you can control the flow.

@jbjy salt helps promote gill health. it also helps kill some bacteria.

Yeah, but make sure that it DOES NOT have Iodine in it. You can buy 1 at the grocery store for less than $0.75
