  • I'm LOVIN' this!

  • I have been watching this video for ONE year, and still... No BILL!! :(

  • I wish they had better recording technology back then so I could hear her beautiful voice in all its glory :/

  • Thumbs up if Gilmore Girls brought you here :)

  • Glee's become almost necessary to promote old tunes to the younger populace... but I do wish there was a channel re-showing all the Judy Garland Show broadcasts and the alike in the UK. Glee's b/w episode reminded me so much of those shows that I raised myself on via YT after my father introduced me to them on record. Still, I think they need a classically trained singer to come onstage for an episode to develop the actors in a different way - I'm hoping S4 brings in non-pop-y singers.

  • I will probably be very upset if they end up covering the Mamas and Papas too. No one in that cast (with their autotuned, shrill voices) would be able to replicate the rich, multi layered harmonies that seem to endlessly echo off the walls.

  • I loved this song long before Glee ever did it. For 23 years I've been exposed to these old songs everyday of my life and I can say this music definitely shaped my childhood. The music of the 50's and 60's always takes me back to a simpler time and has become forever infused in my emotional psyche. Unfortunately, Glee has never done it for me: it doesn't give me any uplifting emotions and by knowing the older songs so well, the covers just seem to lack heart and soul.

  • @nerdygrl647 I agree with everything you've said here @nerdygrl647, but i will at least give them a bit of credit for bringing young people into the fold. Good taste will win in the end.

  • Marilyn McCoo can outsing anyone from Glee....please stop it....

  • I thought a I love you bill was something you needed to pay. LOL Just kidding.. but is it?

  • Marilyn Manson brought me here...

  • 40 people have no soul.....smh.

  • Glee brought me here, just bought this song on iTunes. Love it.

  • Timeless. Beautiful.

  • she is soo gorgeous

  • @jasoncuebas Yep.

  • "Hey, Bill!"

That's always been my favorite part.

  • glee brought me here! haha

  • Anyone else tired of the "Glee is better" "No Glee is awful" thing? I don't understand this competition between who heard it first, what is "real" music ect. It's not like any of you wrote the song. I heard this on Glee, then looked for the original version, like I'm sure many others did. And then the world didn't end.

  • @NZDYL4N I agree. If Glee exposes people to new styles of music and songs they otherwise would never have heard, I think that's great. All I would ask is that folks recognize the "degree of difficulty" in Marilyn McCoo's performance. When someone posts on here critical comments about her live performance in 1969, it does bother me insofar as I feel that person is not accounting for the fact that McCoo's singing is live, and not slickly dubbed for a studio-taped tv program. That's what upsets me.

  • @raelraven2 Agreed, I doubt many singers could pull that off today. I think a lot of the criticisms from Glee fans is that a lot of them form an emotional attachment with the characters that's unavailable with the original artist. They can't have the same objective view they would have if it were just two singers, ya know?

  • DESIGNING WOMEN brought me back here!

  • I think this is an actual live performance.

  • @St1998c180 yup it is

  • @Spidernonono Thanks for that.

  • This is soooo cute. Just the way she looks at him and his jumping back lol. And to think they have been married nearly 40 years. Bravo to them.

  • @PrezLeefun I absolutely agree. Especially at the end when Marilyn puts her head on his shoulder and bats her eyelashes. Adorable.

  • came here because of Gilmore Girls, revisited it because of Glee, love it because it's darn good music.

  • Anybody else think of HOMER SIMPSONS driving a car singing this off key?

  • Comment removed

  • I was 4 years old when this came out.

  • There were songs before Glee believe it or not youngsters

  • @cubanpinga thank you...i hate that glee shit

  • @JakobNL69 welll there's a GLEE version

  • did anyone else notice shes wearing a ring? were they married here?

  • I love this version, but Glee is better ;)

  • this song makes me bitter and angry!

  • yikes ---she looks as good as she sings

  • that guys is like, who the fuck is this bitch?

  • gilmore girls > glee

  • @Littlebugbug15 this should be the top comment

  • Marilyn McCoo a beautiful woman with a beautiful voice! Bill you were lucky don't know why you looked scared..lol

  • gilmore girls brought me here. :)

  • I manage my family's restaurant here in Boca Raton florida and who who comes in with a group last night? Yes, Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis jr. Such good people, Both look great, and Marilyn is still so beautiful . Hope they come back in. It's not every day you are in the presence of living legends.

  • Glee :) ?

  • Why does the volume come and go?

  • OMG ! Marilyn McCoo - Solid Gold !

How nice to see you again. :)

  • I love it when Glee exposes people to great music! By having it on Glee millions of young folks who I'm sure have never heard this amazing song are now familiar with it. Win win to me!

  • aww its so cute seeing this after reading their bio and how they got married after this

  • Comment removed

  • I hv always loved this song and I hate that glee did it

  • My goodness. This was the nr 1 on the day I was born. Do they have a metal or at least a rock version of it???? PLEASE!

  • @JakobNL69 I agree,I too was born on this day and this song blows. Was hoping for Jimmy Hendrix or something.

  • Heard it on glee and came here to know the original name of the man the song is about

  • Thumbs up if glee brought you here :D

  • @music4life13571

Notice how no one gave you the thumbs up you're so desperate for, because this song is a classic ......Glee shouldn't be the reason anyone views this video.

  • @Deepstarr7020 In defense of music4life13571, I appreciate that Glee features classics like this. Non-Americans like me are only exposed to what the mainstream media offers and discovering songs like this through international runs of Glee is a pleasure. It doesn't mean, however, that I like the Glee cover more than the original. I loved this better. :)

  • @music4life13571 it did bring me here but now im like ewwww ooohhhhh noooooo ..emma from glee did wayyyyy better on this song

  • @TheTashanet You do realize that this song is being performed live on national tv in front of a large studio audience and with no studio enhancements? To convince me that "Emma" (or whoever's voice was dubbed in) sings it better let "Emma" get up on live tv and perform it using 1969 technology.

  • c'mon and marry me wiiiiill!

  • I first listen to this song from gilmore girls and I love it , so when I listen the first 15 seconds in glee I was like hell yes they are doing wedding bell blues

  • Why does she sing 'marry me bill'? :D .. it's 'marry me WILL' =D she shouldn't have missed the latest glee episode ^^

  • @DesireForDramione ... Are you serious?

  • @livelaughlove737310 of course not =D

  • This is an excellent song by an excellent group

  • Marilyn McCoo is one of the most beautiful women EVAH.

  • haha i lov this video she is callin bill out lmaooo...the expression his face lol

  • Glee brought me here -3

    Glee version better!!!!

  • Am I the only one that thinks of "My Girl" when I hear this song? I feel like i'm aging myself, lol.

  • @alexisanne lol same here my friend thats how i remember the song from my girl takes me back to when i was about 12/13 when the film came out and certainly takes me back then!!

  • Jayma Mays (Glee) did this so well <3

  • I saw this covered on Glee and it reminded me how much I love this song! I think they did it justice. And it turns out, Emma can sing!

  • I love Glee, and I also love 5th Dimension! I feel sorry for anyone who DOESN'T love this song!

  • such a cute performace - Billy cracks me up and I like how Marilyn sneaks up at the beginning

  • loved this in Gilmore girls

  • <3<3<3<3<3'd this and still do! Brings back memories from 4th & 5th grade! My classmates brought their portable record players and records with them to school and we'd listen to this song and others. } )

  • I absolutely LOVE this song!!!!

  • i have to think about the second marriage of emily und richard in gilmore girls :) nice song!

  • @AnelehRelloh I do too! and Richard talking about Lorelais ear infections. I remember that was the first time I felt simpathy for Emily and then in like the next five seconds I went back to hate her.

  • @AnelehRelloh "Well, Emily, for tonight and tonight only... my name is Bill."

  • Marilyn's voice is like a rich desert that you can't get enough of. It matched the times when the world was a much nicer place and people weren't afraid to dream.

  • beautiful!! brings tears to my eyes.

  • Marilyn is like the brunette version of Barbara Eden..jaw dropping beautiful & gotta dig her flip.

  • if black americans would go back to this instead of the rap crap, things would be so much better

  • @imdavid666 not all rap is crap.. there was a point in time when rap actually had meaning.

  • One of the best voices ever! I still dream of this song today! The 5th Dimension were the best!

  • What a VOICE !!!!! Brings tears to my eyes coz its so melodic and genuine.

    Very talented artist

  • What a Couple!!!!

  • I miss Laura Nyro...wish she was still around writing amazing songs like this one.

  • I dedicated this song to my hubby at our wedding reception, his name is Bill.

  • Gilmore girls <33

  • ...I miss the 5D....unbelievable harmonies, a real class act!

  • Emily and RIchard Gilmore:) ♥ GG forever:)

  • Marry we WIIILLLL =D

  • I absolutely can't wait till Jayma sings this on glee it looks sooooo funny!!!

  • Jayma Mays (Emma) , Jane Lynch (Sue) and Dot-Marie Jones (Coach Beiste) will cover this song on Glee, I can't wait !

  • Can't wait to hear Jayma Sing this on Glee!!<3

  • Awesome song written and originally recorded by the incomparable Laura Nyro. It was serendipity for the 5th Dimension that Nyro used the name "Bill" in the song. It was a perfect fit for Marilyn McCoo to sing to Billy Davis, Jr :)

  • My Girl and Gilmore Girls brought me here to relive such a masterpiece!

  • Emma from Glee will be covering this song on Glee. :)

  • @javier900000 i wish glee would go away and stop tarnishing the pure excellence of the songs they cover

  • @zwartepiet412 don't know what you mean. I don't like this song and I also won't like the cover Version.

  • @zwartepiet412 Are you kidding me ? Glee,,,and it's cast, have preformed many of these types of music/songs in a very respectful and excellent way that gives them honor and keeps them fresh and alive in an age which seems to lack ANY class or style...

  • @javier900000 Thank GOD for shows like Glee that introduce young people to truly memorable songs like this that most of them probably never heard of

  • @OneHitWonderGuy I was watching the Glee episode with my mom last night when they played this. She started telling me about how she remembered when it came out. It was nice to share something from her generation/memories and mine.

  • @1940semochild i know right xD i everytime when Glee is covering an "old" song im asking my mom if she knowes the song theyre singing xd and mostly she does ;p

  • @OneHitWonderGuy @1940semochild

Ditto! I was watching Glee with my mom and when this song came up, she exclaimed, "That song is from the 60s!" I could tell she was beaming with delight because she was swaying with the music :)

  • @ItsWayMoreThanMusic hahaha actually my mom started singing along too. Its was cute. Which was funny because she hadn't heard it in a really long time. Then she gave me the "back in my days speech" lol but it was nice comparing music from her generation to nowadays

  • @javier900000 And she did an excellent job!

  • 42 years of marriage and going strong! Kudos to Marilyn and Billy!

  • The #1 Song in the USA on the day I was born.

  • @mikescorpio1108 me too. :)

  • @conantat1 You don't look like someone born in 1969! When is your birthday?

  • @mikescorpio1108 November 7, 1969, Scorpio with Capricorn Rising. Sadly, I'm old, but at least the outside lies well.

  • @conantat1 I'm with ya. You'd think I would be born on a day with not quite as gay a song as we have here.

  • @conantat1 Wow, one day earlier than me. Small world. I think we aged pretty well...

  • Omg i'm gonna die I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT EMMa from glee sing that song i'm so exited

Oh... And great vid the woman had a beautifulvoice =)

  • @GeneralSchuester It's about time Glee did some Fifth Dimension!!!! Right On!!

  • 1969 , i was 10 then i loved them times so genuine the world the music the feelings damn i miss that

  • What a talent!! I's surprised that Marilyn didn't have a super solo career after the 5th dimension. Anyway, thank you for posting this, I brought back a nice memory.

  • Love this song! I know Marilyn and Billy got married in 1969 but were they married before or after this?

  • omg is that the song that Emma sing

  • This song will be covered on Glee by Emma.

  • Beautiful... and the song ain't bad either! :->

  • Thank you for posting!

  • OMG I LOOOOVE her voice....wow...what a HOT hot woman!

  • inlove with this song! i heard it from the movie My Girl :)

  • I loved this song when I was a kid! The 5th Dimension ruled!

  • This was one of my favorite songs in high school. I had the biggest crush on a guy named Bill, too.

  • I love this song! I used to hear my mom sing it when I was little

  • No lip synching! How refreshing!

  • my boyfriends name is bill :)

  • She and Bill are married still !! They also never miss church on Sunday and are proud of that fact. An example to us all - Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis Jr.

  • @mosihasteen

Yeah, they do marriage seminars and stuff. What a positive message they are.

  • Bill, you lucky bastard....

  • Wedding bell...

    run like hell...

    Survival, baby,

  • i loved this group when i was younger

  • Marilyn McCoo must have been the best looking woman in all the 1960's. Hotter than Marilyn Monroe. Unbelievably pretty. Too bad I was born in 1970.

  • 32 Dislikes? Seriously? Why?!

  • They are STILL together

  • I would've married Marilyn McCoo,if I'd have ever been given the chance also. She was drop-dead gorgeous and fine as hell with a sexy body.Even when she was on Solid Gold as the host in her mid 40's,she was still fine as hell. This is a cool song,I'm a big 5th Dimension fan.I have a couple of their CD'S.

  • This song was played at my cousin Bill's wedding to my high school speech and theater teacher in 1972 ... they are still married and still in love :-)

  • This music was not spoiled by over producing, Wish it could happen all over again, Bring back variety shows.

  • She is cute, why doesn't he want to marry her.

  • I would marry her in a second!.

  • I was seven years old too and thought she was one beautiful woman. Funny how kids these days wouldn't feel the same way about current celebrities. They are too busy with computer games.

  • I can't help but think of Emilie and Richard Gilmore when I hear this...

  • @SorceressZila same here :) Love it!

  • Somebody said better looking than Halle----I gotta agree.

  • Thumbs up if The Young and The Restless brought you here. :)

  • Thank you Trish <3 for turning me onto this song, I cant get it out of my mind.

  • Bil was kinda sexy there.

  • I would have married her...if I wasn't 7 at the time...darn

  • @bigpharmarules You too huh?

  • @bigpharmarules lol, me too... except I was 7 aboyut 30 years after this aired :( she still looks good today though, If I may say so.

  • @bigpharmarules You had a better chance than I did...I was only 5.

  • @bigpharmarules I was only 2!!!!!

  • @bigpharmarules Me too.

  • I love this song, but what is going on with the set design?

  • oh Marilyn what a voice

  • Gilmore Girls <3
