  • The best jobber I ever saw!

  • @thewolfmanchu Frank Williams is better.

  • @GohModley Brooklyn Brawler was awesome too.

  • Wow, he only barely looks like he's aged since '92!

  • I met Jim Powers at Signature Fitness in Belleville , NJ. He shook my hand when I said I recognize him from WWF , nice guy.

  • the young stalions were a great team but they were one of similar teams that wwf had at the time, hart foundation, rougeaus, bulldogs, killer bees, strike force, brain busters etc so not all could get a big push.

  • @manemustaine I've always had a lot of respect for Jim. He stuck it out with WWE despite never getting pushed for over a decade and certainly deserved better than he got. His reason why the YS weren't pushed is pretty much the accepted reason although as you pointed out I wonder if other teams of that era had something to do with it. Namely The Rockers who worked a similar gimmick to the Young Stallions.

  • @jldraw no doubt jim powers was a very able worker, with a great look and charisma and didnt deserve to be treated like a jobber to the stars on superstars. He easily could have been given a push and had the ic strap on him with the right gimmick and timing

  • Used to train with Jim back in the 70's in Tom Roan's gym. Jim was always a nice, real down to earth guy. Nice running across this post.

  • @parkerxxxxxx Yeah I met him when I was a kid my father owned a liquor store near the Meadowlands (NJ) he was a regular customer. Very nice guy from what I recall.

  • I always liked Jim Powers. I remember watching him as a kid on Superstars back in the day, hoping he wouldn't job. Even when he teamed up wit Paul Roma as the Young Stallions. Another couple of good guys that could've been put over.

  • JOBBER!

  • Maybe they needed to hold him back. Not many jobbers actually made you believe they could win. Powers is definitely an exception.

  • Jim was one of the greatest jobbers ever

    FIXED

  • Powers is a funny guy in person, had the pleasure of helping him in my Verizon Wireless yesterday.

  • Jim had the look and was a decent worker, don't understand why didnt he get a better push. Maybe cuz he wouldn't fuck Pat Patterson

  • I hate Jim Powers,he still has a full head of hair.Lol,just kidding I always thought he would get a bigger push in wwe

  • Never understood why Jim never got a real push in the WWF. He had great charisma in the ring... he'd make his entrance and almost immediately make a connection with the crowd. Watch some of his matches in MSG on WWE Classics and you will see what I mean.

  • sstill looks good, I'd wrestle him anytime

  • Dam he is still hot, I would love to step into the ring with him

  • Im still very much surprized to see him in such great shape. Most guyz you dont see on tv for some time they just let their bodiez go n when they reappear all you can do iz look n say what happened.

  • Interesting. Good luck, Jim Powers.

  • What I always found interesting is when Vince would do play-by-play of Powers' matches he'd always build the guy up, as if his opponent would be facing someone formidable. He'd say stuff like "Jim Powers can go toe-to-toe with anyone" "Jim Powers is a well-conditioned athlete", "Jim Powers is no slouch in there" and so on. Yet, despite those words of praise, kept having the guy put over time and time again!

  • Great wrestler who never got a fair shake

  • back in the mid-80's late 80's all the pieces of the puzzle Vince had already placed.

Hogan, Piper, Rude, Perfect, Honky, Warrior... and so on.

Vince had nothing for this dude for some reason. idk?

maybe Powers didnt suck dick and party all night long.

  • Great pro wrestler that never got a push or break. Sucks to see a skilled wrestlers and nice guy like Jim Powers never get his rightful chance.

  • Met this guy at the Bar the other night...(I am a bartender)...Super nice guy and a pretty good tipper. Oddly enough I also met Tommy Chong. Fun night seeing only about 50 people walked in my bar that night at DFW airport.

  • this cat could sell moves like a corner dealer. and he was always in tremendous shape. 2 of the most importaint things that make a great wrestler.

  • I believe they were called "Power and Glory". LOL

  • Jim's still swole..he looks good..the years have been kind to him..

  • I remember watching Ric Flair defending his WWF Title against this guy, and Flair had to cheat to beat him! I know Flair was "The Dirtiest Player in the Game", but when Flair, the Champion, had to cheat to beat a jobber, that made Flair look so weak.

  • all those years of jobbing to the wwf stars has got to be hard on the neck. I grew up watching this guy get beat up every week.

  • @YJWoadWarrior

Jim Powers WAS a geart wrestler!Plenty of talent. is only mistake was he got his neck injured to which I can really relate to as I had MY neck badly injured. A crushed disc, or all those falls on the back of your neckj and you have degenerative disc disease, a PAINFUL, NERVE DMAGING injury! It affects your houlders, arms, hands, and you try top sleep but wake up with your arms and hands numb abnd aching badly. I used to go through my house like a madman, banging my hands! NUMB!

  • @YJWoadWarrior Oe other thing, Vince McMahon DEMANDED his guys do DANGEROUS, DAMAGNG stunts just to put asses in the seats, then when his man got INJURED, NATURALLY from those tunts McMahon demanded, he let their career go to pot. He didn't care about whether they ent through therapy or not, he was done with them! Eat them up and just spit them out! NOW it's coming home on Vince!

  • Sad to hear that Roma & Powers didn't get along. Both of them were very good in-ring wrestlers.

  • him and bret look alike

  • Jim was a jobber that people secretly rooted for even though you knew he was gonna lose...

  • shit this must have been from 06' since this guy posted this in early 07, powers was around 48 here. looks great.

  • i wanted him and roma with the belts like the islanders and the bee's

  • Was wasn't great but He was good He was just to small for the WWF at the time.

  • It's rare because no one bothers to interview him

  • He used to come into the supermarket I worked at in East Rutherford with 2 little girls. He was always very nice!

  • roma was even given a spot in the 4horsemen and still couldnt get anywhere. if jim would have been given that spot he would probably be a superstar today

  • roma was a madman who used his fists on poor jim because he thought powers was holding him back.

  • Anyone else ever heard the story that Pat Patterson "hit" on Powers, and when he refused his advances, and complained to the higher ups, that is why they put him in a tag team with Paul Roma???

  • jim powers now theres some one i haven't herd from in a long time now

  • anyone know if powers is in the movie the wrester?

they mention him in the movie. but i didn't see him and he isn't in the credits.

  • I thought that the Powers of Pain were a top rated team.

  • roma sucked dicks

  • jim powers is a mediocre wrestler

  • jim powers seemes like a really good guy post more jim powers macthes from wwf superstars

  • You're right, even though (certainly in his younger days) he was a handsome guy with an excellent physique, Jim Powers never seemed to let his ego become over-inflated and always remained a nice, regulary, easy-going guy.

I always liked Paul Roma as well as Powers -- and I don't like stating this -- but Roma might always have been conceited and stuck on himself.

  • To answer the questions about who this clown is doing the interview...His name is "Handsome" Randall Burton. I live in Upstate New York and there is a show based out of Rochester called Wrestlevision that shows matches from local indy promotions. This guy was on that show at one time so I would assume that is where this interview came from. He had to be someone's cousin to get the job. I saw him in person at an ROH show a couple years ago and he was creepy and his clothes were dirty.

  • Actually he is one of the premier indy announcers. Wrestlevision was a joke, thats why he left. Watch his other stuff OUTSIDE of Wrestlevision and you'll change your mind!

  • Yeah, that sucks Jim Powers & Roma never got a push in the WWF.

  • Because Roma was a douchebag. Roma was always overrated anyway, unlike Jim

  • @HarveyFoFi Roma got pushed alongside Hercules.

  • @HarveyFoFi They couldn't stand each other and it would've been bad business to push an unstable commodity. Powers paid his dues jobbing to the stars through the mid 80s until he and Roma finally started to be pushed slightly, but their relationship outside the ring ruined it. Powers seems like a great dude though, so I'm kinda rooting for him to recover from his neck problems and carve out a decent finale to his career. Young Stallions FTW!!

  • @HarveyFoFi I couldn't agree more. I always thought he had a good look about him in the 80s. He also seemed strong as hell. I remember a tag match he had against the Heart Foundation and he tossed Bret around like he was nothing.

I always thought he shoulda been pushed.

  • i always liked jim powers, but the jerkoff smark interviewing him needs to get a clue. as soon as he said they pushed a "second rate team like the powers of pain" i wanted to smash the screen. Warlord and barbarian were true friends and got along great even to this day . they did what vince wanted no problems and i doubt roma and powers were as easy to get along being pretty boys. give ma a powers of pain heel match over a pretty boy stallian match anyday.

  • The Powers of Pain were not a second rate tag team, but that does not change the fact that their gimmick was a cheap imitation of the Road Warriors

  • Agreed. Warlord and barbarian were supposed to be a more angrier team, but lod still ruled. Thank the second rate writers who could not use their brains to get a great team like p.o.p over . i bet that asswipe would not say that to barbarian or warlord face to face. For that matter, did he know barbarian wrestled in japan and warlord in florida? real smart mark ...not.

  • Why is Seth Green interviewing?

  • The dickhead interviewing doesnt know shit about wrestling (or interviewing).

  • Where was this mini shoot conducted, and who was the guy conducting it. He really needs to get his facts straight. The minute I heard him say Powers started with the company in 87 I was like uhhh NO.....Really dude were you even born when the Young Stallions were a team? Do your homework.

  • roma and powers leaving jobber status on tv seemed extraordinary at the time

  • how in the hell did he and Roma not go over? Those Stallions matches were tight. Roma looked like god. I just dont get it.

  • because at the beginning of their careers they jobbed.i guess the fans couldn't take them serious when they started to get pushed.

  • because Powers/Roma didn't like each other...but that shouldn't have matter because Strike Force didn't like each other at all either

  • because Powers/Roma didn't like each other...but that shouldn't have matter because Strike Force didn't like each other at all either

  • Weird how 2 guys who looked like a million bucks were mostly jobbers. Roma went on to have a decent career I think as Power and Glory with Hercules and then in WCW.

  • Don't try and eat the Microphone everytime you try to ask a question. D_BAG.

  • Jim Powers and Paul Roma were a great take team. I think Vince MacMahaon should have let them win more matches. Vince pisses me off sometimes!

  • because Powers/Roma didn't like each other...but that shouldn't have matter because Strike Force didn't like each other at all either

  • Strike Force was pushed to complete the storyline that was set up with the Can-Am Connection. Tom Zenk said that they were supposed to drop the belts to Demolition just like Strike Force. Actually, the Young Stallions were over more than Strike Force.

To this day, I often wonder how far Tom Zenk's career would have gone if he stayed in the WWF.

  • JIMMY!...make up with Paul Roma. You guys were HOT HOT HOT Handsome Muscle Jobbers.....YUM!

  • Poor Jim Powers has even less of a personality than Dean Malenko has on camera. :(

  • Who the fuck is this talentless little punk faggot interviewing him.

  • Your dad

  • Your dad

  • According to their reported reps in the business, Powers was a good guy and Roma was a complete dick, so what he says regarding their lack of push in the 80's makes complete sense.

  • The interviewer looks so fuckin gay!

  • very nice guy.too bad he didn't get any higher in wcw or wwe.

  • yea i heard he was supposed to over the net but u kno vince prolly got guys goin on the net jus to see what we think then he fucks wit us and then he pleases his marks

  • Orton... goin once

goin twice.... sold cena we hope to drop title at summerslam

  • Good seeing Jim again. always thought he was cool. Body is still kickin...

  • Check out those bulging biceps on Jim Powers

  • show me the ultimate KNEE LIFT JIM... the KNEE lift from HELL....lol

  • Jim Powers used to be one of my favourites back in the early 90's. He was one of those "enhancement talents" that actually fought back and made it look like he could possibly win, even when he didn't, save this one match where him and some guy were facing the Nasty Boys, and they would constantly pick one of the guys up after pinning them (deliberately breaking the pin) one too many times and the ref just disqualified them. It was pretty neat to see that.

  • "Enhancement Talent" when I was younger we called them the "wimpy guys" and my uncle told me they were called "preliminary wrestlers".

  • Yeah, preliminary wrestler was the nice term back in the early 90's.

Then there's ham-and-egger, as Heenan called them. That was funny. I didn't get it back then though.

  • hey cenahater5000, I know Vince would never let him beat those two but wouldn't you love to see him kick cena's ass?

  • i thought this huy passed away.

  • Jim Powers was my favorite jobber... Hopefully he can make a comeback...

  • Yeah huh? he's still in shape, but I doubt Batista or Cena.....maybe an Orton or Shelton Benjamin.

  • Jim Powers looks to be in magnificient shape and still looks young even though he's a veteran, maybe a WWE return is not that far away, exept this time not as a jobber, he has much more experience than cena or batista and could easily beat both of them

  • Powers is awesome...but didn't he sue WWF because of Pat Patterson's sexual harassment?

  • what???!!! are you serious

  • I thought that was Barry O.

  • nice interview

  • The announcer was annoying and needs to keep his mouth a couple inches away from the damn microphone.

  • he is in great shape.

  • Awesome interview. Paul Roma & Jim Powers, aka. 'The Young Stallions', were the best!!!

  • Powers & Roma were the Hottest, Most Gorgeous, Handsome Body Builder Muscle Studs Tag Team ever! I guess their Hot Jobber Muscle Boy sexy bodies were too HOT for TV.

  • WOW, I was a mark of his way back in the day. He was a great wrestler who always made his opponents shine by kicking his ass.

  • How old is this? It could be 5 years old.

  • did the interviewer say Paul Roman? lol.

  • ill admit tha man is still in shape but come on back then when he was wrestling he was always getting beatin by other wrestlers. even doink kicked his ass which is kinda embarrassing but if tha man wants 2 get back in tha ring then i think he has a shot

  • Jim Powers was in a short lived promotion called the American Wrestling Federation. That promotion had guys like Tito Santana, "Ace Cowboy" Bob Orton, Adnan El-Kassie (General Adnan in the WWF), Mr. Hughes, Michael P.S. Hayes, The Samoan Swat Team, Chris Adams, of course Jim Powers, among others.

Python, if you call that giving Doink a push, then sure he was pushed. But in all honesty, Doink wasn't pushed at all.

  • exept bret hart and crash no one sold doink over.

  • I think Vince knows a lil more about it then you Python.

  • Powers Vs Lawler was an instant classic. Anyone remember it? Why oh why oh why did Vinny Mac prefer to push the likes of Doink, 123 kid and Horowitz while leaving real talent like Powers behind?

  • when was it

  • damn i really miss watching these guys

  • Jim Powers has muscles of steel.

  • JIM POWERS- the best athlete ever to come out of Paramus, New Jersey.

  • Personality conflicks with Paul Roma!!!!

    Jesus Jimmy!!

....Kiss and make up with Paul...Slip him the tongue!

  • when was this shot?

  • Nice interview from the old days of Rochester NY's old NMW!

Great interviewer, you need to put more of his more usual stuff on youtube, his heel announcing is up there with Heenan & Lawler!

  • Jim Powers looks great. Be nice if he made it back to the WWE.
