  • Sweet riff man, keep rockin

  • what kind of mods did you do to your amp

  • hey im getting a new amp but it can't be too pricey, neither does it have to be really loud.

  • is it loud...is it good is..it worth it

  • hey, great tone, just got a valve junior with a multivox 2x12 speaker cabinet. Was wondering how you swapped your components to push the volume of your valve state. I looked up some speakers, new tubes but how do you change your transformer, your input impedance and the resistance to gain? Would getting a 4x12 speaker cab push my gain, or hurt this amp because of the ohm count? I am a little lost on how to push my volume. thanks for any info or help.

  • get an overdrive pedal

  • Great sound! I'm thinking about stickin' one of those speakers in my AC15.

  • its not so much the speaker, lots of people switch them out in the valve jr

    its the tubes

  • Sweet tone! Is that the stock speaker with the VJ cabinet?

  • Nice playing, great tone coming from that Epi. Who did the mods for you? Are they bitmo mods?

  • I did them. no, no kits, just component swaps. just changed up the input impedance and the gain resistors. the speaker is an eminence private jack- which is an awesome speaker.

  • i dont know much about amps but how do u make that half stack to a full stack?

  • Just add a second cabinet

  • no like when it comes to setting up the cables. like i have the half stack and u plug a cord into the cab and then into the head then what do u do if u have another cab?

  • Generally speaking I think most heads designed to work with a full stack (i.e., high powered heads, 50W+) will have several outputs for each impedance to connect up multiple cabinets.

My Epiphone So-Cal valve head has two outputs for 4 ohms, 2 for 8 ohms but annoyingly only one for 16 ohms. However, being 50W a 4x12 is plenty enough to handle it!

    Hope this helps.

  • I was thinking about buying a so cal 50. I have two 4 ohm cabs (together would be 2 ohms load) and was thinking I could plug them into the two 4 ohm inputs. However, I saw another amp with this set up and you are supposed to plug either one 4 ohm cab or two 8 ohm cabs into the 4 ohm inputs. Two 8 ohm cabs would be a total of 4 ohms impedance. Is the so cal 50 the same? Thanks

  • could i gig with a epiphone valve jr full stack

  • if you play gigs where you mic your amp and have some sort of monitor system then yes. If you mic it then just put it wherever you need for you to hear it, and let the soundman deal with front of house. If you use your amp to project to the crowd then a little more horsepower is probably going to be in order.

  • Is the cabinet Valve? I only want the Cab like..

  • Cabinets don't use valves. Only the amplifier. But you should notice that he swapped out the stock speaker for an eminence private jack.

  • Thanks for the info.

  • just got mine yesterday. i love the warmness of this amp.

  • dude i got this amp today and its FRICKIN AWESOME! btw awesome playing dude.

  • does this thing get pretty loud? is it good with pedals? i was thinking about getting one as well.. was jw

  • Umm- I think it's plenty loud. It will hang with just about any drummer. It's not Marshall stack loud.

It is one of the most pedal friendly amps I've ever owned.

  • have you tried the epip. valve standard? i was thinking about getting that one instead. since it has more features.

  • I haven't. I'd be a little weary though honestly. I think the effects section will probably be 'budget' at best, and will be something that will seldom get used. The valve junior is much cheaper. One of the biggest pluses for it is the HUGE amount of online support- you won't get that with the valve standard.

  • very nice.

  • I've been thinking about buying that little amp for a while now. After hearing yours I just have to have it. I'm building a cab with a 12" Greenback (wasn't too crazy about the 8" Eminance).I think it will sound sweet.

  • how wide is that cabinet? will a fender fm100 head fit on it?

  • hows that little fender champion 600 in the back sound?

  • it's good. they definitely need new tubes. the stock speaker is ok, but tends to fart out at higher volumes. replace the stock speaker with a weber signature series and you'll be in business.

  • thanks heaps for your reply. i'm going to do exactly what you've done, i love the cab and speaker aswell. i will probably add a standby switch tho, so i dont go through tubes too quickly. nice playin by the way

  • i just checked out your other vid with the mesa cab but i actually think this one sounds nicer (for blues)

  • what have you done to modify the amp? i love it! i was going to buy an orange tiny terror instead of a stock one of these but your mod is awesome

  • as far as the head goes i corrected the input resistances by changing the resistor to ground to 1 meg, and then the resistor in series with signal to 22k. This head has groove tubes in it- big plus.

the cab has an eminence private jack speaker in it. the lady luck that comes in the cab is garbage.
