  • i had forgotten all about these guys until i caught this on VH1 Classic the other day. it's like they're making fun of American hair bands...but they're totally sincere! love this!

  • Hell yess! These guys(as I've said on one of their other videos) bring it!!! Clearly the Eddie VanHalen of Japan. This clip is from 1984 the year they opened for Motley Crue. These guys ROOOCCCKKK!!!

  • and... actually like his playing better that Eddie! Sorry JMO!

  • rock and roll crazy night. that just crazy

  • This could not be more cheezy, straight forward, yet awesomly rockin!!!

Does anybody know what MZA means?

  • A few years ago, the lead singer said that MZA meant nothing. They just put it in the song because it sounded good in the song.

  • Was this the inspiration for Spinal Tap's "Tonight We're Gonna Rock You Tonight"?

    Thanks for posting this vid.

  • Saw them in the 80's...they were a lot of fun!

    Herrro Murrrah Fukkas! LMAO

  • FUCKING SICK

  • 80's Metal rules!

  • Awesome. Hail Loudness. RIP, Munetaka Higuchi.

  • Great band saw then open up for AC/DC in 1986 in Toronto. The guitar player was doing cart wheels across the stage with this mirrored guitar around his neck Awesome.

  • the guitar player was really good for this band to bad he never left them

  • Loudness Power!

  • WOK N WOOOHHHHHH

  • What did M.Z.A mean in this song?

  • NOTHING!!! I'm serious! They made that up.

  • I read somewhere that it doesn't actually stand for anything, they just thought it sounded cool.

  • 唱得不錯

    很棒很棒

    加油

  • the drummer sucks?? yeah right! they kick ass pal...

  • If only visual kei had the music and the style of real manly bands like this!

  • i dont speak english

    the true metal of 80's

    cheveux creper fantastic hair

  • bacana, es buena...para ser vieja guardia...

  • wow.. i dun even know dis band.. but i already started to like this band...

  • Even Dir en grey does not exceed this greatest and legendary band yet.

  • but X japan exceeds Dir en grey by a long run

  • When? and how?

I don't remember any perticular time when X Japan had ever exceeded Dir en grey in the worldwide popularity.

    (Hierarchy of popularity)

Loudness >> Dir en grey >> Vow Wow >> X Japan >> all other vkei

  • dude I was at the dir en grey consert in montreal wee wore only like 90 people x japan sold over 50000 tikets in taiwan and in paris and new york don't go saying dir en grey is beter x japan is the most popular band from japan, and alot of peaple in japan think dir en grey is gay now shor thay used to be cool but I saw them live and I wasent inpresed that fucking vocleist is fucked up on drugs or somthinf he was fucking triping the hole consert it fucking sucked i think it was the wore 50$

  • worse 50$ I ever speant

  • popularity doesn't equal greatness

  • Pre recorded, crap. Better in concert.

  • 2:49 to 2:52 ... WOW!

  • Awsome song ill take this anyday over the candy ass shit we have now these guys rock!!!

  • Bad ass guitar solo... ahhh Man.

  • the drummer has died recently...

    RIP

    he was good

  • wow didnt know that ..i saw them at the felt forum in 87 or 88 n the drum solo blew eveyone away...

  • one of the best!

  • The singer looks a bit like a pseudo Marc Bolan clone.

  • akira tarasaki..you Are my hero

  • this shows that japan can fucking rock

  • Their drummer just recently passed away from cancer. :(

Something I've always wondered is, exactly what does MZA mean? Is it like something in Japanese that doesn't translate to English easily, or what?

I used to think these guys were hilarious, but hearing it now, after the last 18 years of garbage MTV and VH-1 has rammed down our throats, starting with Nirvana, this actually sounds pretty bad ass!

  • According to Yahoo's Loudness' bio, 'M.Z.A.' doesn't 'mean' anything- the 3 letters just sounded good together.

  • ye cool beat

  • ever see a Japanese baseball game?"

Yes and its alot more entertaining than the american games just because of the fans craziness.

Japan loves baseball more than any county in the world (sorry America but your fans are really boring)

  • man, if only this track was on rock band...

  • I remember a different video being played in Canada, can anyone remember?

  • Yeah, there was a different video. It had a different intro (with each band member appearing as Akira played the intro). There were a bunch of little shots here and there, for instance of the drummer repeatedly bashing a gong (in double speed motion). During the guitar solo, there were negative shots of a roller coaster added. And during the ride out, the MZA chant is mimed by a succession of people...Japanese school children, a geisha, fans, even a group of policemen.

  • Yep, that's the one Kohntarkosz. I forgot all about the gong and the roller coaster. Thanks.

  • I take back what I said about the roller coaster. I saw the other verison of the video again (it's somewhere on Youtube, paired with another video from Thunder In The East), and it's actually a train (probably Japan's famous Bullet Train) that you see during the solo.

  • Wock and Woll!!!!!!

  • The rock as I remember jammin with in my hey daze!

  • This is what Pantera used to look and sound like!

  • wock and woll cwazy nights. love these guys. searchin for the mza

  • this proves that anyone can rock, whether you're black or white, brown or yellow etc.

  • awesome!!!

  • very nice

    liked the music

  • I saw these dudes back in 85 or 86 they opened for AC/DC they fucking rocked tiny but rocked!!!

  • yea mza doesnt mean anything..they said they juss came up with it and thought it sounded good

  • They had another kick ass song, I think it was called Lightning Strikes. If anyone has it, please post it. Great band and thanks for posting :)

  • Me and my friend have looked everywhere for what MZA means and we can't find any clues, so anybody know-All we know is that it was an abbreviation they thought sounded cool.

  • okay loudness is like a one hit wonder yes they had other songs but this was there big one

  • What the fuck does MZA mean? For the 15th fucking time?

  • the vocalist said it never meant anything. he made it up because he thought it sounded cool...

  • This is the first Loudness song I've ever heard, and wow, fucking awesome!

  • me too! i saw this on vh1classic!

  • I just discovered this band. What a diamond in the rough! I'm going to check out all their stuff.

  • Heavy chains is a good song also

  • Very good band, but look for their stuff pre 1989. They got rid of Minoro Niihara, and went with vocalist Mike Vescara, which was a huge mistake. Part of the bands appeal was that they were an all Japanese band. Grab "Thunder In The East" & "Lightning Strikes" for your two first albums. They are the best.

  • Loudness is good but they never had the success like other bands here back then like Metallca or Judas Priest like that

  • Love these guys...

  • classic

  • RIP Higuchi

  • God forgave us cuz we actualy got laid dressing like this back then/ lol wtf were we thinking Rotfl

  • My first concert ever was these guys opening for Crue on the Theater of Pain tour(85?) Kinda cheesy video when I watch it now, but this song has one of the best guitar riffs in it. They'll always have a special place in my mind being the first band I ever saw live....since they came out before Crue:)

  • I am sorry but LOUDNESS proved they can be better heavy metal than anyone 25 years ago already... never underestimate the power of good heavy metal. Like Metalucifer.

  • best japanese band in the world

  • RIP Munetaka Higuchi! You are the good rockstar in the history!

  • See ya, Higuchi. You will be missed...(but Heaven is a bit more rockin' right now!)

  • RIP man you're up there with Kami & hide! Enjoy life with the other rockstars! :D

  • RIP Munetaka Higuchi

  • RIP Higuchi.

  • RIP Munetaka Higuchi... TwT MZA

  • Remember seeing Loudness with Motley Crue back in....God, what was it, 1982? I think they opened for the Shout at the Devil tour or Theater of Pain...They were really polite on stage and complimentary of Motley Crue....class acts. Bummer to hear about the drummer.

  • it was probibly motley crue's Too Fast For Love tour.

    R.I.P. Munetaka Higuchi

  • whoever said japanese can't rock, this proves them wrong!!

    RIP Munetaka Higuchi

  • Munetaka is hittin' that big drum kit in the sky.

  • These dudes can rock pretty hard.

  • This song fucking rules and I just love the guitar riff-it kicks so much ass.

  • Akira phucken rocks!!!!

  • the guitarrist is way too underrated!!

  • that motherfucker is good!

  • I'm a bit of a sucker for Asians so I'm kinda drooling now.....:p--------

  • what happened to thease guys?

  • Nothing! they released an album in 2006 so are still around...

  • They released another album in February: Metal Mad.

  • These guys landed in Ohio for a while back in the 80's. Not too bad, good lead guitar.

  • They should have written lyrics in Japanese.

    Their English skills are terrible.

  • ahhh.. "thunder in the east". Goofy lyrics and language problems aside, these dudes had some wicked chops...

  • riff llz brings this band along with tsunami enjoy it

  • imitation is flattery...something like that?

    Sound=Good

  • LOL Kabuki metal. ROFL> dang nips

  • Hammerfall sings this song in english.

  • Are you serious? I would love to see Hammerfall do this tune. This song kicks ass and Hammerfall is one of very few of todays metal bands that could pull it off. Is there a video of Hammerfall doing this song anywhere?

  • Yea, type in Hammerfall - Crazy Nights

  • 狂った夜!!!!!!

I remember seeing another Japanese band playing live, it was a more recent video and the band played good music

  • Ah the memories..i can still remember sitting in Nassau Coliseum back in the 80's and the singer telling us how AC/DC was gonna wok us tonight.

  • You are the HEROOOOOOOOS!

  • HAHAHA!! M.Z.A? WTF?

  • Wow back to my child hood. All I need is my rising sun bandanna. Hahahahaha

  • I love japanese anything it went for trying real hard and failing to making death metal and black metal all their own. if anyone is interested pick up an OPERA METAL band named THERION from Italy . . Their cd "Crowning Atlantis" has an amazing cover of this song that soungs like Loudness never did it.

  • Cool song, What does MZA mean?

  • no one knows

  • I heard it meant Middle,End,Beginning for their place in the alphabet but whether that is true or not or what that means I don't know!

  • Akira is amazing ! To any who say he is not - dont just listen to this song and judge his playing, go buy disullusion or thunder in the east - thats some of the best guitar work ive ever heard in my life !
