now that is more easier to make custom levels and mods are you planing to release a new version of the missing stars or you are up to in something difrent
@internetakias1 I won't work again on "The Missing Stars". I don't have much time nowadays, so my focus will be more on hacking tools, such as the level and music importers.
frauber Can you please make a ROM patcher that replaces the Peach's secret slide course with the missing star course that looks similar to the ones on this video but with the house that looks like at 0:06 & the grass outside is pink & it just has random colored trees & bob-omb buddies & random colored Yoshi's & evil Lakitu's that are invincible & throw coins at Mario instead of Spinies every where & the sky is night time.
@MasterMarioWii Working on the level importer and on the upcoming music importer has been more complicated, but the Missing Stars was more time consuming.
@weckar What exactly do you want to know about it? Never looked much at it, but it should be similar to Toad's. Dealing with transparence is hard because it deals with many complex combiner rendering commands. At some point, I tried using Toad in a level but there were graphical glitches (again probably because of the custom objects).
@frauber My main idea was applying the stop-and-be-untouchable behaviour to other enemies. Also, The code that knows if Mario looks at them should be interesting enough...
@IMMATOONLINK Almost everything is possible if you know how the game works and how the ROM is laid out. Nowadays you can replace any level using my Level Importer tool.
@RDX12606 I don't have it. Blaster eventually showed it in a YouTube video, but for some reason he deleted it. Another planned level was the "Sky Cage" one, by SecretGlitch.
The "underground" area was partly made to fill that void, but it's main function was because I need an alternative entrance to the Volcano.
Hey Frauber, if I wanted to learn how to do complex Hex editing (like the creation of npcs and routes for them to pace and different actions for them to perform, etc) and stuff like that (basically to make levels alive instead of a bunch of stationary objects), how long would it take to learn all that? How long did it take you, is basically what I'm asking?
@RDX12606 It depends on your motivation and programming knowledge. Best way to start is messing with behaviour scripts , you can get nice effects without needing too much technical knowledge.
I started almost from zero when it comes to hacking/programming, it took me about two years to have a good foundation.
i have the rom readdy but when i start a file the game freezes and i have to reset.any ideas as to why this happens and how do i fix it?

LOL YOU SUK @ PLAYING
Just kidding, interesting video. I simply can't imagine how much work it would have took without any importing tools.

What about Dudaw12 and Skelux? Theirs is a pretty "complete" hack.
Also, reminds me of when I beta tested, lol.

Oh yeah & also make that there's lots of Koopa shells that you can ride on that course.

Interesting history on the most famous SM64 hack. Looks like it was the hardest thing you had to do in your "programming life".

I always wondered, is it possible to make every level flat?
It seems like you did that with this hack, but I never figured out how to do it.

Oh and nice video ;0 (all i ever do is ask questions)
You're gonna show that secret cave level, right? I always wondered how that one was planned to work. It seemed kind of empty.
