I was never a fighter and still same to this day and remember getting a right doin doon the Bakey lane, such is life. Also remember Kayes the fruit shop, I stole money from his till, feel guilty now. There was a blck and white dog called Darky, not much PC in these days.

  • I was born in 40 clydeferry street in 1953 right where kingston bridge is now .the exibition hotel was next to. us facing us was washinton st school and next door was where they used to make school meals at the bottom was horse stables teachers pub was other side of their whisky bond .tradition said .the row of houses i was born top end, was the old weavers cottage's. it had its magical places and some beautiful buildings it was a city within a city.

  • I lived in Anderston from birth to 12 in Holm St. and then to the high back at 10 Cranston St.. Not much of the old area remains but my memories of a strong and orderly community where neighbour helped neighbour to get by. My first school was Washington St. Primary one of the few buildings left with the playground now used a parking lot for the nearby hotel. Thanks for taking time to record this. Future generations can look back at their family's past and get a feel for their roots.
