That was so wonderful :). The grocery I work in (I work in the bakery) makes real whipped cream as well. I can say that it taste SO much better than that other crap. Cheers!
i know you meant no offense, but calling your crusade a "jihad" is really deplorable, especially because the definition of Jihad has nothing to do with violence, or a war... it doesn't mean "holy war" it's a personal spiritual struggle, so unless you yourself are the one struggling with using cool whip, please change this description.
Hey Mr. Snow :)..... i really like your concerns........... your right.... its scary and a crime to bring stuff like this into markets....... and its even more scarier that .... they're forgetting fresh food exists!!! theres like a million artificial whip topping brands.... and the one place i used to get fresh whipping cream is out! It makes me angry... really.... so i understand why it is a big deal .... seriously touched :)
I use whipped cream every chance I get to control the "topping" for a pie. I have never added vanilla, so some more ammunition for a much superior topping.
Even though I'm lactose intolerant I avoid the non-dairy whipped toppings. The problems I have with these products aren't necessarily the ingredients but the forms they use (HFCS versus other sweetners, hydrogenated oils). Whipped cream is great because it naturally already has all this. I haven't been able to find a good nondairy alternative in the store and the next step would be to make my own using lactose free milk, emulsifiers, and gelatin to thicken. Even "Dream Whip" isn't a great choice
Excellent message! I never understand why people choose the artificial stuff. So many use artificial foods, sweeteners, and chemical garbage. Thank you for this video. I put it on my facebook wall. Peace and Good.
Cool Whip and many of their imitators use pretty much the same chemical soup of ingredients, and it's not healthy. However, from an environmental point of view, not supporting the dairy industry is one hell of a good reason to use products such as those instead of real dairy cream, even though Cool Whip does contain "sodium caseinate" which is a milk protein.
Furthermore, a U.N. panel of scientist has recently stated more methane comes from factory farms than any other industry. You decide.
While I do agree with what you've said here 1. You can't put whipped cream on a warm pie, and 2. Cool Whip tastes better. There are just some things I won't compromise on. My poor health.
Completely agree Chef Keith! I preach this to all my friends and family as well. Just told me older brother yesterday, he responded with "But I don't have time to make fresh whipped cream." With this video clip sent to him, he'll find time now! Keep up the good work! Fresh is better :)
I agree this product sounds disgusting but we shouldn't really be having real dairy also anyway... Lactose intolerance is the normal condition of adult mammals, we just force our bodies to digest it by ingesting it even after weaning. The fact is, its unhealthy.
yeah I have heard the "mammal argument" however if you analyze high quality raw milk, it has nearly the perfect nutritional profile.....raw milk has the enzyme in it to break down lactose..it's called lactase...I drink gallons of it with zippo digestive problems....
more of a personal choice....and I respect those who don't think they should have milk...do what works for you.
This sounds like a real anti-big business/government lecture instead of a promotion for natural foods.
I'd also like to add that the main reason a lot of these substitutes are put together is that they are cheaper/easier to make and have a longer shelf-life.
I'd have to disagree, I am a capitalist. Read the ingredients list, loaded with trans fats, remember..this is the stuff "they" said was ok..later they admitted and were forced by the FDA to remove it or put warning labels on it, as it kills.
My goal is education as people do not really know what is in the foods they eat.
You call it what you like, obviously my background proves that I promote natural foods and have for years.
Those 'quick tip, lecture' videos are great. Keep them coming. Simple quick recipes that gives us an healthy and tasty option over what could be considered "bad food".
Also, the quality is good enough for short youtube videos. It's clearer than what we usually see on here. ;)
Hey gamerbox, it is indeed not always easy to find and pay for the exact ingredients in his videos but nothing forces you to do so, you can be smart about it. Just getting regular cream with regular vanilla extract is already a big step-up from X whipped cream.
Keith is pushing for a "quality"(usually healthy, too ;)) food lifestyle, the balance between your wallet and the quality of the food you buy is all up to you. He's not forcing you to buy anything.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
hi keith, i have one thing i cant stand about your videos. People have financial problems where they cannot afford the exact ingridients, so pretty much your wasting your time with more than half of your viewers. Who do you think we are. We dont grow money. Idiot
Your the idiot. He's telling us whats the best. We chose what we want to do. He's giving us a guide on whats better, but ultimately we chose what we want to do. Have some respect.
I want to also add that vegetarians may eat this because of their aversion to animal products. I completely understand and respect that lifestyle choice. In fact I promote many, many vegan and vegetarian recipes on Harvest Eating website and in my recently released cookbook. This video was directed towards people who do consume animal products but are choosing this fake stuff because of time savings or convenience. so please, don't hammer me with comments about the vegetarian aspect.

I can't find any cream in my local food stores. Everything that says "Heavy Cream" or "Whipping Cream" has OIL and other garbage in it.
What happened to just plain Cream?

Has anyone looked at the ingredients in a carton of 'cream' lately?
I couldn't find any in my local food stores. Everything that said 'heavy cream' or whipping cream' contained some kind of OIL and other garbage.

Could you make a video like this for boxed macaroni and cheese, and have a recipe for the REAL version in the same video? Thank you in advance!

First off, if you don't have time to make real whip cream, how come you have time to make the actual pie? There is no excuse! :P it's so easy
