  • This video was featured in my textbook.

  • @23rdpsalm lol mine too.

  • This reminds me of a grave site I know with two men of the same name who served in the war and apparently died only a few months from each other, I guess they were brothers, something that makes you think.

  • The Red Ball Express played a significant role in the war as soldiers cannot fight without fuel, food, ammunition, or replacements. Please give my regards to your grandfather.

  • Hi poppinalex14,

The documentary is available on DVD and as a Web download/rental from Amazon. For more information on the documentary film, the printed book, and the multimedia versions of the book, please visit our site at sixstarsinthewindow.

  • I want to see this movie.

    Has it come out yet?

If it has, can you please tell me where I can get the book and the movie?

    I'm really interested! :D

  • A good WW2 movie is called

    Saving Private Ryan

  • Hi Frankie,

Thanks for stopping by. I agree, my favorite fictional WWII movie is Saving Private Ryan. But, my favorite all-time WWII movie/series is the non-fictional Band of Brothers. I've interviewed a lot of veterans and Band of Brothers seems to come closest to describing their experiences during the most intense periods of the war.

  • Probably the best.

  • Talvisota a finnish film about the winter war (finland defending itself against russian invasion in the winter of 39/40)is a great film, it portrays the horrors the finnish soldiers (mostly farmers etc. taking up arms against the invasion) facing an infantry that outnumbers them by a ratio of 4:1 aircraft 30:1 and tanks 218:1 yet they held on & were never occupied, it's available in english under the title winter war but the finnish version with subtitles is more dramatic

  • support the troops that serve for the well-being of a country<3

  • we salute you guys...

  • Don't forget the Fighting Sullivans-- five brothers, one ship-- they all died. Rest in peace to them and these poor boys.

  • those me risking there live for the preservation of freedom and liberty can not be thanked enough. my great grandpa fired the first shot of pearl harbor. survived the sinking of the USS WARD. WWII will always be remebered. God bless AMERICA!

  • That would be cool to have a great grandpa like that.

  • Thanks guys for your service-----heroes

  • thats when we cared when young were willing to fight for our great country and her allies but young people bitch to much about "loosing" there freedom when they dont realize that bitching about the U.S is a freedom freedom of speech if they were in iraq or iran and talked about wither of them there throat would be cut

  • If I remember correctly, the five Sullivan brothers served together on the same ship and died when it was sunk.

After that, the military tried to not have brothers serving together in the same outfit, the reasoning being that if they served in different outfits it was less likely that all of them would be killed. Multiple brothers could and did serve in the military at the same time--they just generally did not serve in the same outfit at the same time.

  • A movie was made in the 40's called the The Fighting Sullivans.

  • Yes, six brothers in the service at the same time was rather unusual. I've run across many families that had 2, 3, 4, or even 5 sons in the service, but I only know of one other family that had 6 sons in the service. (One of those brothers also served in the 10th Mountain Infantry Division in Italy.) I'm sure there are others, but probably not too many.

  • Unbelievable all six went to war.

  • omg¡¡¡ awesome video congratulatios¡¡
