my dads a firefighter with sac metro fire in CA im just wondering are the scba's the same in the navy and is the training to become a fire fighter in the navy the same im vary interested in serving in the navy some one please reply.
would a army firefighter be able to apply for a civilain firefightign job after he gets out of the army or would i still need to go to school and do the academy again as a civilian?? could anyone give me any info please ????
I have signed up to be a volunteer fire fighter in my local town since they need the people like me, so I pretty much got a part-time job, but will be about a week possibly before they get my regular physical with the docs. So I'm looking at the Air Force reserve, since that looks like the best option for becoming a fire-fighter.
Hey I have a question, is 21M a competitive MOS? and I have a family and I want to re-enlist, Previously I was 11b before my girlfriend had my Daughter, I was medically discharged after I got injured during training. I am able to re-enlist now but wish to do another MOS besides Infantry. I am looking at 21M and 31B... can you tell me how was your experience in this MOS battle?
yea, damage control will not be much like this at all. Its mostly just train and prevent. And when there is a fire, you'll spend most of your tim repairing what was damaged. hence the "damage" controlman.
I AM a "dc", and I can tell you this NOT what you do! All we do is train and teach retarded people who could give two shits about fire fighting and damage control how to do it. So good luck with that!!!
What years were you an instructor at Chanute??? I went through there Jul 91-Sept 91. I graduated right after the Labor day holiday. If you were instructor then what block did you teach???
No Shit!!! I remember ya!!!! I ended up staying in the USAF till 2000. I was stationed at Hanscom AFB MA, Ruppertweiler NATO SWHQ Germany, Ellsworth AFB SD, King Abdul Aziz AB KSA.
Now I'm a Civilian Firefighter in VERMONT.
When I was going through Chanute I was A1C Whitehill.
Been doing well. Miss the Military firefighting but still can't beat the civilian life. LOL. I'm very surprised I was never called back up after 9/11. I had lots of friends that were reactivated.
Didn't you guys have SSgt.Segee (mispelled) teaching block 4 back then in 90 and 91 along with a Sgt.Hillshire? went through in 90 graduated Nov 90. A1c Braxton when i went through. Still have fond memories of the school and the Hitchingpost!!
i am not a contracter, i am a federal firefighter employed by dept of defense.

Used to be an Air Force Fire Instructor at Chanute AFB, Illinois before it closed in '93.
Great Fire program in the service. Just listen to what they say and you will soon be ahead of most civilian departments.

I'm going into the Navy as a Damage Controlman, not to sure if this will be similar to my job or not, but, if so, then this kicks ass. =)
