@PWNtheHILL Is that along the Meols Parade is it? I know that Malcolm and his Mum's house overlooked Liverpool Bay but i'm not sure whereabouts. I live on the Wirral too and i'm a big Watching fan by the way ha ha.
@tsewacceber I certainly do. There was that actor who made it big in America, he appeared on Cheers. Then the other actor was on Hope ir Rains with Holly Aired and Tom Bell. Judy Loe and also that actress that used to appear with Victoria Wood was on it as well.
Just bought series 1-4 a few days ago and have watched them already. Gonna hunt the other 3 series down now. I was only a kid when this was on TV so didnt really appreciate it then, but its brilliant. Emma Wray was not only really cute, but a great comic actress as well. Its such a shame we dont see her on telly these days as she had more acting talent than most of the actors/actresses we have to put up with these days.
@Frankcis1980 Yeah i've come across them in HMV, but haven't had the money to buy them, but great memories from my childhood, late 80's early 90's, can remember watching these on Sunday evenings with my family, knowing unfortunatly it was bedtime straight after, as school beckoned, the next day, great memories though.
Let's look at the facts to try and determine where Emma Wray is now.
'Watching' was from c.1987 - c.1992 (approx 20 yrs ago).
Emma is about 25 here.
25 +20 = 45
So, 45 year old scouser... umm... probably spent the latter part of the 1990s giving birth to a litter of baby scousers (who would be about 12 yrs old now, therefore out breaking into and stealing cars) and Emma has probably given up acting and now spends her days eating chips and working part time at the Spar shop on her estate.
Does anyone remember the old woman in this being in a commercial for washing powder? I just remember her face peering into the washing machine, as viewed from the inside.
Horrible 80's graphics! Urgh! So nasty. I enjoyed watching this though. Me granny used to watch this every Sunday without fail. I should think the audience for this and the audience for "The Two of Us" with Nicholas Lyndhurst were probably very similar. My granny used to watch both. Old people liked this kind of comedy because it portrayed young people the way they thought they should be, all twee and non-offensive.
What a great sitcom Watching was I enjoyed it from the beginning to the end. I think Paul Bown & Emma Wray (Brenda Wilson & Malcolm Stoneway)had a great on screen acting chemistry between them.
Loved this show. I just wonder whatever happened to Emma Wray? She was such a good actress. I remember she also appeared in another drama (forgotten the name of it) but it had Alisha's Attic 'I am I feel' as the main theme tune.
Ah, yes! That was it. I loved that show as well. I think it's such a huge shame that she's no longer acting - she was such a natural talent. Let's hope she changes her mind one day. Thanks for letting me know though!
This really is one of those shows which has crept under the radar, no one really seems to remember it, but it was a little gem of a show. I loved Malcom and Brendas relationship, I remember them playing it really well, and Patsy Byrne was great as Malcoms mum. Liza Tarbuck was ok, ad you could pretty much take or leave the rest of the cast, but David and Brenda were the main protagonists anyway. Good song too, which I still hum randomly to myself sometimes.
You should be able to, i checked on wikipedia, and it said that it was released on DVD in 2006. Guess ya just gotta keep your eyes peeled for this one!
You can buy it from a well known website beginnign with A and named after a rainforest! (couldn't put the name, it kept coming up and saying I was breaking the rules!)
wow! lol just saw that bloke off the bill and said thats david off watching(dont know how it cam eto my head, it was that long ago!) brilliant programme at the time! havent seen repeats though, which makes it extra special to see the programme song....the big old goggles and the motorbike side car lolol

That theme tune is really sweet. God knows how you'd find a full recording of something that obscure.

It was called My Wonderful life, also with Tony Robinson!
She has given up acting (such a shame) and has gone travelling. She also no longer appears in 'spotlight' which is the actors and actresses directory.
She should make a come back, she was ace!!
