Thanks for the review! I'm looking for something to night hike and it's a toss up between this one and the Tactikka XP. I don't really need the blue or green filters, so this might be the one.
Also, isn't the beam profile a bit wider with this one than the XP?

this is the tactikka plus. difference between the tikka and tactikka is the flip up red lense. tac is short for tactical since use for military type applications (a form of light discipline and conserving night vision). the "plus" varies from the standard tikka by adding an additional led and the digital function switch. regular tikka or tactikka is just a standard slide on/off switch with 3 led's.
Do you think that AA batteries will last longer than the CR2032 type?

while these are almost the same, the Tactikka XP is newer with more features..
If you are buying new, I'd suggest the Tactikka XP
