It's just like starter Pokemon, only with great old ones. Red > Green > Blue > Red. And their advantages over each other make just as much sense when you think about them.
By the way, Alex totally deserves a spot in Super Smash Bros. Summoning an Ancient would be one hell of a final smash.
Chattur'gha's thought process is too rudimentary for Xel to make sense of, kinda like a human trying to read binary I guess, so she has no power over him.
Chattur'gha seems like a guy I can really get behind. While most of these guys think a "physical presence" means having a local cult run by crazy people who can't even outsmart the feds, Chattur'gha is like, gonna cut you in half with his big ass claws.
Kinda what I liked about Cthugha. No real cult or anything, all you had to do was call him and he would kill Nyarlathotep for you by setting the whole damn forest on fire.
I suspect the similarity with the names was intentional.
@ruflexo It depends on which icon you choose when playing as Pius right at the begining of the game, which ever one you choose determins which ancient Pius serves.
0.36 was easily one of my favorite parts of the entire game. I love how Xel'lotath does the standard boss clone move and rather than take the standard approach of process of elimination, Chattur'gha just goes:
"Wait which one...aw, screw it." BAM! All three at once. THAT is a badass worm.
Not that it is going to mean much in the end, but the description of Xel'lotath and Chattur'gha really needs some work, since contrary to popular belief, an all powerful being cannot actually defeat an all-knowing being. To be exact, they'd be in an eternal stalemate, since an all Powerful being may have all the power there could ever be in existance, but his power won't mean anything if his attacks never connect with the enemy, and while an all-knowing creature won't defeat an all-powerful...
@Pokeria1 creature, she can still predict every time accurately what his attacks will be and evade them every time. So I really do doubt that Chattur'gha would win against Xel'lotath because of that. Still, good job for uploading the scene.
I wonder how these battles would've looked if they went the other way (Chattur'gha defeating Ulyaoth, Ulyaoth defeating Xel'lotath, Xel'lotath beating Chattur'gha). Though impossible by the doctrine of the alignments, I still wonder how it would've played out?
@tehgamer1 The whole idea is Chattur'gha represents matter, Xel'lotath insanity, and Ulyaoth mind. Xel defeated Ulyaoth because insanity can overcome the mind. Ulyaoth defeated Chattur'gha because of mind over matter, and the fact that he's smarter. Chattur'gha defeated Xel because insanity can't really overcome something that relies on brute strength over brains.
So it isn't mind over matter in this case; that's Ulyaoth vs. Chattur'gha.
Xel'lotath is the embodiment of knowledge and mistress of madness and insanity, Ulyaoth the embodiment of the power of magik and the master of the plains, and Chattur'gha, the embodiment of creation and destruction and the master of raw strength and matter.
All bound to Mantorok, the lord of ancients and the embodiment of chaos.
Yes, of course! Pokemon is the only thing that used the Red-beats-Green-beats-Blue-beats-Red system, ever! Every one else that did it is obviously coping Pokemon! YOU'RE A GENIOUS FOR FINDING OUT THIS BLATANT RIPP-OFF!!!
0:40 I'm not clear on why being the embodiment of strength gives him a tractor beam. Like, wouldn't the supreme being of physical power just reach forward and grab her instead of bothering with that Darth Vader stuff? Ah, well, still awesome
Chattur'gha is not only a being of power, but also a being of matter. That allows him to manipulate things using external force - like a tractor beam.
Annnnd the Epic Fail of one freaky beastie trying to spread their reign of insanity across the known universe and unknown planes goes to... (Drum roll please.) Xel, darling, smile for the camera. Your dead! rotmfflmao
It's just like rock, paper, scissors. Chattur'gha is the rock, Xel'lotath is the scissors, and Ulyaoth is the paper. Rock = brute force and strength. Scissor = cuts your mind into shreds and drives you insane. Paper = where all knowledge, intelligence and ideas are written on. This is my interpretation of the ancients and how they relate to the rock, paper, scissor effect. Mantorock, however is the outside force that basically controls everything.
@amalgamation25 Lol, that's an interesting way of viewing it. Makes things a bit easier to understand for some people. Also an interesting way of playing rock, paper, scissors. :)

You see Chatturgha is stupid so the insanity of Xelotath doesn't work on him, but the brainy tactician Ulyaoth can easily take this brute down. Yet of all the great minds out there what destroys them all? Insanity, that is why Xelotath pwned Ulyaoth. One cancels the other and so forth.
I don't understand why you guys are assuming that Chattur'gha is stupid.
Haven't you watched the cutscenes where he talks to Pious? Yes, Chattur'gha has a deep, growling voice, but he comes across as being very intelligent - he's every bit as well-spoken as Ulyaoth and Xel'lotath.
@Zyxxs True; all his tactics might essentially translate to "punch it in the face", but (much like Batman or Sherlock Holmes), he knows and plans out EXACTLY where to punch to do the most damage
@lovecraftslovechild Why bother coming up with overly-complex plans and machinations when simply tearing your foes to shreds is both faster and easier?
it's like using psychological warfare to the bull or boar charging at you. ya, it doesn't work. the sanity force doesn't have enough physical strength to defeat the mightly force, it's like dumb as a rock but hits hard like a rock sorta thing, I'd say.
Oh, I almost forgot.
Chattur'gha used Flamethrower!
It's super effective!
Xel'lotath used Solarbeam!
It's not very effective...
Chattur'gha used Guillotine!
One-hit KO!
Yeah, yeah. I'll shut up now.
