Just two good guitarists having fun here. Guitar has a wide array of styles. Just like buddy Guy can play the blues in his own way and be great at it. Jeff Beck can do the same in his own way. It's hard to explain and understand unless you have been playing music for years and years. It is no longer who is better or not. If your asking the question your stuck in the hair band days for sure. That era is gone.

@GMTecano I couldn't disagree more with you guys. He is clearly not overplaying in this video. Of all his videos this is arguably one of the slowest paced by guthrie's typical speed. I thought it was a perfect compliment to what Ben was playing and the touches of speed were nicely integrated, as always. As for control, Guthrie has more than enough of that.

If anyone out there wants to know one of the reason why Guthrie is such a great guitarist, then just watch any interview of him. He's the nicest, most humble, down-to-earth guy you could imagine. He actually get's embarressed when people compare him to other guitarists.

That's true - he always speaks very highly of other musicians. For example when someone compared him to Allan Holdsworth in an interview he replied that the interviewer was probably mistaken. There have been various other Guthrie humblisms to that effect too. He doesn't let the fact that many people consider him to be one of the best guitarists in the world go to his head in the slightest. Great guy, and a pleasure to listen to.
