I work in a company that has a contract with Microsoft for phone support for the Xbox.

Last xmas Microsoft put pressure on the company and I think around 23 people were axed, the week before xmas. A close friend of mine had just had a baby girl and was literally told, you're gone.

Purely because the surveys he got back said that they didn't like Microsoft.

Well, for that matter, Internet Explorer is crap too.

It hasn't evolved rreally for 9 years, which you can see cause it is still vulnerable to ActiveX. It is slow like hell as is all their software. And user friendlyness is just non-existing.

Not that it matters to Microsoft really, because they do not care about their browser. They care about what it is usefull for. Selling operating systems. Which by the way, does not work either.

The strategy of Microsoft is to use the IE-browser to sell operating systems. It could be any product, but now it is their browser. When you look at their campaigns for IE, it is more a campaign for Windows than a campaign for their browser. And hat is because they do not care about the browser itself, but what they can use it for.

That is also why MS hates open standards. Standards break monopolicy. Think about the three E's of MS, search on Google.

I had Vista, I run Linux now for that reason. The decision to switch to Linux was very easy. I can see huge speed improvement as well as better stability and user friendlyness.

People will buy them no matter how shitty they are anyway, so why bother.
