  • Nice vid. Too bad HD wasn't as widespread then. This would be GREAT in 1080. Thanks.

  • Can someone PLEASE tell me the name of the song??

  • just go there after hours to avoid the annoying crowd lol

  • that song is the jam

  • I did not like the cigarettes/carving of the ABC on the temples nearly to the end of the video. Why Cambodian government so stupid!?? They need to take care of this beautiful country.

  • Drlawitts,

    It was collapsed centuries ago.

  • @jhy2kmoney ive been there i did not collapse wierd trees have grown on the old temples but it still stands today its just nature has taken over and they cant do anyting about it

  • Asians don t care for the past..its just money, this beautiful site is turned into Disneyland.

  • @am1966ath shut the fuck up i am a cambodian and it did not turn into disneyland we are trying our best to keep nature away from our temples were doing all we can bitch

  • @seanseng61 unfortunately 50years to late..many statues have been vandalized so that the heads can be sold by Bangkok-antique dealers. The visitors to Angkor are pestered by hawkers and begging children...other than that, Angkor is magnificent.

  • @seanseng61 Dude, you need to chill. am1966ath is right. And when you're saying "we" who is we? Are you physically doing something to keep our temples clean? Nature mixed with the temples is beautiful. Honestly, what are you doing to help out Cambodian temples?

  • @megamunchit2008 Nature mixed with the temples looks nice?..those tree-roots are very powerful are very powerful, they slowly destroy the temples, UN nad UNICEF should spend money renovating the temples and also protect those statues that are left and thai government should confiscate the khmer-art that are for sale in Bangkok and return it...part of the vandalization of the temples are also to blame on criminal khmer-rouge.

  • @am1966ath Yes, I think those roots look beautiful with the temples. It shows how powerful planet earth really is. More powerful than any man. More powerful than any Khmer king who has built these gorgeous temples. Furthermore, greatness comes with a great price. May cost a few temples, may cost a few lives so unless you know the truth about the Khmer Rouge, I advise you keep your opinions to yourself. Not everything is true. *Cough cough* CIA!

  • @am1966ath I'm Cambodian and I agree with you. The stupid government don't give a shit about our history/past, all they care about is money.

  • @megamunchit2008 Angko watt belongs to all mankind like the fobidden palace in Beijing and the Borrobodur temple in Java, when Angkor is falling apart because of neglect, a vital part of world history is gone..its by chance that Angkor was rediscovered..we can not take history for granted, especially in a torrmented country like Cambodia.

  • @am1966ath Angkor Wat belongs to the people of Cambodia. If Cambodia decides to blow it up, no one can stop them. It's they're choice. Right now, I say Cambodia should blow up Preah Vihear so no more lives are taken away. Thailand wants a piece of Preah Vihear and they're involvement costs many Khmer lives. I'd rather see our temples blown to pieces than see my people die.

  • @megamunchit2008 Why should the people of Cambodia blow up this marvel of architecture??why don t ask for financial assistance to restore it? So many millions in Cambodia has died at the hands of US bombing/Khmer rouge terror and diseases/malnutrition, why destroy something that attracts tourists to your society?

The thais are envious as they were once subjects to the kings of angkor..look at their culture/dance..its a copy of the khmer-culture.

  • @am1966ath

I'm Khmer and I agree with you and thank you for your appreciation and concern about our temples. megamunchit2008 just gets his brain wax by Siam to blow up Preah Vihear! The sacred Tempe was built by our ancestor.

  • @am1966ath Khmer classical dance was retaught to khmers by the Siamese. Is it a wonder they are similar? khmers don't want to admit it lol but its recorded history. Just about everything post Angkorian is of siamese influence.

  • @KensaiZen You mean that THAI civilization preceeds that of the Khmers?? The Khmers ruled large parts of Indochina long before the great siamese city of Aytthia(1350-1767)..the siamese probably took Angkor in a war and took part of that sophisticated civilization as its own...not forbidden.

  • @am1966ath yeah, im not denying that we must have been influenced by angkorian culture as Angkor was the one to be at that time. But since Angkor fell, It was all about siam. The culture that returned to cambodia has been Siamised quite considerably. What you see today looks more like the Siamese style then the Angkorian style. So to make it simple The royal cambodian dance is heavily influenced by Siam. Why does it look so similar? because we taught you our version of the dance.

  • @am1966ath oh and just to break it down for you. The first Tai kingdom in record is dated around 545BC Singanuwat Nakorn, aka yonok nakorn chaiburi sri chiang saen. SEA Tai culture predates khmers by almost a thousand years. Ayuthaya, Sukhotai, Lanna. we are all the same people. The birth of our people in SEA is Singhanuwat nakorn, not SukhoTai. The understanding of Sukhotai being the first Tai kingdom is outdated.

  • @megamunchit2008 If nothing is done most of Angkor will again be swallowed by the jungle...

  • @am1966ath Are you Khmer?

  • @megamunchit2008 No Im not khmer, im a european..if I were a khmer I would probably not have survived the red khmers..im of that generation. I visited Angkor in 2006 and was captivated by its beauty..unfortunately the temples are pressed by nature and also the tourists.

  • Yes it was AMAZING and luckily we did not experience this kind of tourist flow... very few beginning of June when we went... dodged that bullet... great video!!

  • some angkor temples are over one thousand years old! they've defied time, but any destruction or collapse is most likely from the Khmer rouge.

  • @artistawake true thiland are trying to steal and take credit fron what we built and i am khmer

  • dat aint angkor wat

  • @attackedjimbob yes it is ive been there my self and im a cambodian

  • i love the oldie song!

  • WTF angkor didnt collapse retards

  • @IHyRaXI It's a metaphor.

  • Siem Reap has changed a great deal, especially if you have not been back within the last 5 years. I was there in 2007 as a back packer (for about a month). Its one of those places you should visit if you are in Cambodia. No need to exchange your U.S. Dollar. ATMs are in the City not too far from Ankor Wat. There were abundance of South Korean tourists in the area. Lots of hotels and restaurants and of course night life can be buck wild. The tourist fee was 20 (USD) as of June 2007.

  • what the name of this song.

  • i dunno, but i have mp3 file

  • it shows the madness of tourism.

once Angor Wat has collapsed what will attrack the tourists?

  • Mr. Robdafob! i'm Thai and i never heard that Thai Govt. would build another Angkor Wat!!! where u get the news from?? i believed u guys are oversea-born Cambodians...cauz u seem to be so ignorant

but remember that we never want to copy ur Angkor Wat! and no such news had ever been released! just wanna make things clear

  • Yeah, you're right. The Thai Government would never build another Angkor Wat. They couldn't even if they tried. Plus they just want what's already there just like in the past. Go Figure...

  • poor maintenance.. leads angkor wat to collapse

  • i heard those 'trees' are destroying the temples...

  • ...y did you put trees in semi quotes?

  • i think some of those trees are actually large vines that grew on the trees, thickened, and killed them. i saw a video of a lady climb up the hollow center where the actual tree had long since rotted away

  • they really should disallow people from climbing angkor wat like the Pyramids or the monuments in Peru. But don't ban it yet until I've climbed Angkor first :)

  • My father told me thai can never finish climbing the Angkor Wat

  • I heard that the bastard thai government's trying to build an exact copy of Angkor in order for tourists to come to Thailand instead than go to Cambodia to see Angkor but that shit will NEVER happen.

  • yeah all they can do is copy and steal. but they never can do it better than the original. we created them anyway. u see them using any china shit? nope we brain washed those faggots. they praying to our god

  • @AngKoRiaN1Seriously, why is it every time I look at a youtube video of Angkor Wat I get Khmer bashing Thais--I am Khmer born, and i'm sick and tired of you guys making other Khmer people look bad by showing your lack of modesty and maturity. PLS GROW THE FUCK UP AND JUST ENJOY WHAT OUR ANCESTORS HAVE DONE AND QUIT THE BLAMING AND ATTACKING OTHERS GEESH!!

  • really enjoyed the video style and music, great watch, feel for the kid at the end though.

  • go there while you still can, the tourists are killing it slowly but surely.

  • Angkor Wat is incredible. I was there when you could climb the steps of the temples right up to the top and sit with monks and enjoy a cigarette

  • @GangsterKittensMovie WTF????? You smoked in a temple? Could you be anymore disrespectful? It is still wonderful, you can still go to the top...but it is now expected that to do so is to be done with respect!!! Where are you from that you travel with such disregard for others???

  • you smoked in a temple?!?!?? What were you thinking?? Nice respect...nice regard for others...even worse you sound proud of it.

I was there Nov. 2010, you can still go the top, pray with monks, and enjoy the splendor of it all...but it is expected that you do so with respect.

  • Great video.

The child seemed so sad :(

  • hes a homeless child...u C dat around every where in laos cambodia nd thailand..its hard livin out derr...=/

  • Tourist are Great for Cambodians, but they are also bad, in some ways.. eg. Defacing, Stealing, Breaking off parts of our Ancient History. Some one should make it, so that if they get caught, we can Fine them, as well as Return the Item/Items Back to where it SHOULD STAY!

  • I visit Angkor in 2005-6 and it was great. Sadly tourist did damage it when it come to deface, crack, and loitering but not all tourist did that.

  • hmm... i'd love to go there one day...
