I love her interpretation of this piece. I got to meet her and really pick her brain about careers and singing and she was sooo helpful and nice. Such a graceful woman and wonderful singer. I am happy that she got to hear me sing and that she had such faith in me.! Yay Marietta!

just listened to at least 7 selections of

the aria on u tube, and this is best;

voice, clear beautiful phrasing, clarity,

tempo (not that fast so she's always 'in

the music'...well.. with such ability no reason

to run away from it)just beautiful, natural, no BS- strait forward kind of singing

Not to take away from the praise this clip has received, but there's one thing that wouldn't normally bother me, but there was a section when she sang with a different stylistic approach than Baroque towards the beginning. That doesn't mean that she isn't amazing and has a well tuned instrument with amazing technique and agility.

IMHO, this is the best version on YouTube. Could be a bit faster on the prestissimo sections but I haven't heard anyone sing it this very accurate. Robert Shaw and Marrietta Simpson are simply amazing.

Love her voice and this is a great job! But I just prefer the baritone to sing this. To me it only sounds like fire when a baritone sings it. But she is awesome. Beautiful voice.
