if your in America, you may as well think what you want...that many people don't risk their lives against a military to put the bad guy back in...don't just believe the most intellegent comment on the board either!
Article 239 of the Honduran Constitution reads: Article 239 — No citizen that has already served as head of the Executive Branch can be President or Vice-President. Whoever violates this law or proposes its reform, as well as those that support such violation directly or indirectly, will immediately cease in their functions and will be unable to hold any public office for a period of 10 years.
Why would zelaya bother to return to Honduras if he does not have the backing of the military? Chavez should also be ousted by venezuelans. Honduran Army be proud!
"Zelaya was attempting to usurp the Honduran constitution and attempt to become another Chavez"
False. It was not a referendum. The congress and supreme court would still have the last say.
This is no different from what Pinochet did in Chile. These people should be tried for high treason. They must have known it will hurt the nation, now a rogue nation.
TRUE, Zelaya wanted to disolve the Congress, implused by the inocent refrendum. he had ready an ordel to install by THE ORDER OF THE PEOPLE a Constituional Assembly..what..are you stupid or what..cant you you see what he was doing...break the law to keep in the Presidency as long as he wants . I LIVE IN HONDURAS, I KNOW WHATS GOING ON HERE, NOBODY WANTS ZELAYA BACK
man they have to stop this right now evry country in the world has to put a stop on it i have a feeling thta thiss couild be a huge war for honduras alot of ppl could die and evrything could be ruened juste like el salvador
Is that what he calls "kidnapped". Mr. Zelaya, you were ARRESTED!! You were given the choice to go to exile or jail. Just because you were the president you got lucky. He'd b in jail in the US. Be grateful. After braking countless laws in Honduras he doesnt deserve to be free. That he was beaten by the military? Another one of his lies. He doesnt have a scratch on him. Im glad that Congress has proof of his crooked actions. What good did he and his wife do for Honduras? Zero!!!
Please world!!! Understand!!! more than 95% of the people are against this guy!!! He is a serious threat to democracy and is Hugo Chavez's puppet. Belive me, the only riots on the streets right now are few supporters he had; the rest of the country is in extreme relief and very happy. Nobody wanted to do it this way but he really pushed congress to take this action. He broke countless laws and thought he was above the law. Todays actions are basically an answer to suppreme court's ruling
I totally agree with you. Im sure the USA is relieved that this happened. Obviously they can't admit it publicly because it would look like the US supports overthrowing a government. We all know that Hugo Chavez, the Castro brothers in Cuba, Ortega in Nicaragua, etc. are Communists, therefore big enemies of the United States. This is something that had to be done.Zelaya gave the Congress & the Supreme Court no choice after 3 months of dialog. He had 100 supporters outside the Presidential Palace
Obviously like all dictators, while running for president, he did not say he was a dictator nor did he say his future plans of shredding the Honduran Constitution. Or his close friendship with dictator Chavez and their hidden agenda. After almost 4 yrs as president his promises to combat corruption, crime and poverty are largely unfulfilled. Corruption allover his cabinet. Crime rised 25%. He refused to submit to congress a budget of his spendings. Nobody knew how much he was spending. Etc.
Chavez is not a dictator you can say anyone is a dictator under your logic and just replace them with the candidates you wanted that is not democracy and it will lead to riots as the people do not get what they wanted. So what if he as not gotten rid of corruption in 4 years you cannot change a country in 4 years it takes 20 years. I
Plus IF THE PEOPLE DID NOT WANT HIM HE WOULD HAVE LOST THE ELECTION SO WHY DID YOU NOT LET THE ELECTION HAPPEN END OF STORY, YOU DID NOT DEMOCRACY LETTING A THE LEFT WING WIN SO YOU GOT RID OF IT AND WILL TRY AND FORCE A DIFFERENT RESULT. THIS IS THE SAME BS YOU CIA SCUM ALWAYS COME UP WITH.
Some people dont understand what Zelaya was trying to do. He was trying to change the constitution to his convenience to be re-elected indefenitly! Just like Chavez! Changing the constitution in a democratic government is illegal! He even wrote an unconstitutional decree behind the citizens backs that states his re-election through his so called "consulta". He lied to his supporters and now his playing the role of victim saying he loves democracy. Contradicting isnt it? He is just full of it!
This country has been through a lot of oligarchical dictatorships, I'm not surprised if this turns out into a dictatorship. Sad that the rich want to screw a country in which 70% of it's citizens are poor.

False. They could have stopped the referendum using legal and democratic means.
That's how you do it in free democratic nations. Honduras is no longer free or democratic. Honduras now is exactly like Cuba and N. Korea.
