this is the model i have been looking into buying. i like the idea of 3-dot sights rather than the adjustable sights. are the sights steel or plastic? seems like the perfect .22 pistol
@armed2theteethH420 I would but I cannot risk any retribution for being un certified and telling people how to do something that is possibly dangerous. If not done carefully it will make your weapon unsafe. If you download some diagrams and look at how it works with the barrel removed you can see what needs to be done. basically there is a spring to move and a lever to replace with a spacer/washer.
I just bought a S&W 22a stainless...it has that mag safty feature also..but it still ejects mags out well and has a very light smooth trigger....But i am thinking of getting one of these also...can't beat the price of shooting 22lr compared to 9mm or others
@smithjacusmc I pick up my new ruger 4.5'' slab blued barrel next week...mines one of those they make for another distributer it comes with cherry colored grips looks sweet...My local gunshop sold it to me for $300 out the door..yes i do love the SW 22a take down its easier then my glock and thats hard to beat...
Good review. For some reason ,it seems that the 22/45's field strip & reassemble a lot easier than the mark 3's. Must be the Poly frame. I'm gonna trade my mark 3 for that same exact 22/45 model you have. I'm like you , always trading guns.
I didn't know that the magazine disconnect was what prevented the magazine from falling free when pressing the the release. Thanks for that bit of info. I love the fixed 3 dot sights as well, My dealer thought I was nuts for asking him to order the slab side when he had the bull barrel adjustable sight version in stock and for $10.00 less. Good video dude, you rock.
Great vid! I just got mine at a SAXET gun show in south Texas for 250usd cash. I love the slab-sided barrel and the weight and feel of the gun are great. Its my first handgun and wanted it in 22.lr to match the ammo of my ruger 10/22. Hope it last and gives good use.
Got mine today at the local gun shop here in New Orleans for $270! bought two extra mag's and 400 round's of cci mini mags...Going to shoot it in a little bit!
can you do a video on how to disable that cuz i own a 22 45 and its a pain when i go to reassmble it how i have to put the mag in to lower the hammer for reassembly. i live in indiana so its all legal to not have that feature. i just dont know how to do it myself.
Back in 1993 i paid $212 for a stainless with bull barrel. best shooting pistol i ever shot. 20yrds i can shoot a snuff can size pattern free handed. excellent weapon.
Got one yesterday at Cabelas, 269.00, signed up for a cabelas card and saved 20.00 dollars so it was 249.00, love it, plus they had in stock some cci minimags.. got 300 of them. great vid
I just bought one of these today. $325 at my local gun shop. Made ion the good old USofA. I shot it at the range today. 50FT. Awesome sights. What a great gun.
I've been thinking about getting one of these for a while now. I really dig it. Yours is a particularly nice one too. Have you made any comparisons with it to the Browning Buckmark models? I'd be curious to know what your opinions are.
the buckmark is awesome, i had one for a while, "had" to sell it unfortunately, if I get another it will be a keeper. expensive accessories though, that's what make the ruger so nice, besides durability, you can get lots of stuff for them.
Oh yeah, what type of ammo does the 22/45 like? Of course CCI, cause I have 100 rounds of it to break it in. I've heard bulk Federal is good? And what about the bulk Remington? Because I have 500 rounds of the Remington. Thanks again
well the 22/45 will eat all kinds, it is not to picky, what I have observed from friends who have them is a issue with mag loading. if the first round is not seated with the tip up the round will feed directly into the feed ramp, if your gun shoot flawless, don't worry about anything. BTW Remington will misfire occasionally, tap, rack, bang, and carry on.
Very nice! I just picked up the same exact model and I love it! The only downside though is that since I'm left handed it's hard to release the slide by just using the button because with this model you need to push the button or pull the slide back a bit then push the button and it hurts my finger, haha. Do you have any advice? Otherwise it's a sweet gun!
well you can do what your already doing! ouch!..or reach across with the right hand fingers, as if you were going to rack the"slide" and press the release lever down with the finger tips. try a few different things, just find the most practical.
Hi James. I have the same gun. I just happened upon it at the range. It fit my hand so well, perfect weight, perfect sight picture. I had to have it. I just question will the polymer hold up over time? Living in California I have restrictions. I presently am looking for the 22/45 Mark II - 2 reasons. No mag disconnect and also the polymer is more heartier. I feel it may hold up better. Still trying to decide on a rifle. Hard time finding a kit for the Ruger 10/22. Thx. JAMES.
the mark 2 is a heavier poly, but the new mark 3's are no less resilient, a fiberglass reinforced poly, similar to glock or H&K, all of the new rugers in 9mm up use the same poly. It may be illegal to have or for a dealer to sell the mk 2's in CA, if you are handy with a dremel you can disengage the mag disconnect, but it is a difficult process and may also be illegal where you are. for the 10/22 check out a website called cheaperthandirt they have everything shooting.
Just picked up a used stainless 22/45 Mk 2 today; $214 out the door with box, manual, & spare mag. My dad has one and I jumped on the first one available.
good price my MK III 22/45 SS one cost me 380 new Now . But before Obama GRRRR i could have got one way cheaper . But any guns are going for more and not lasting on the shelf . Our local gun shop sales are up 400 % .

@armed2theteethH420 steel, and ruger now sells them so any of the 22/45's can be converted.

That is a four inch barrel, correct? If it is, is this gun well balanced when holding it for firing position?
zcm007attack 2 years ago
4 inch yes, and well balanced for shooting, the slab side reduces the bull barrel weight to give a more even weight distribution.
