The newer version with Vai has that kind of high-gloss finish to it, and he is a technically very accomplished player: but the bass playing on the original is more to the fore, and it really is quality playing - it drives the song along. I'm going to go with the original as my pick.

Yes...you are right.

" FFYLNM " has originally been recorded for the album " Ready an' Willing " in 1980.

They re-recorded it for " Slip Of The Tongue " in1989; with Steve Vai on the guitar.

Both versions are great...it's the agony of choice what song you like better.

I am not sure how asserting (I emphasize the ASS) Nirvana sucked adds value to this thread. One of the best guitarists (Vai) in a band that did not know when to quit. Of course, no one has ever compared Coverdale to Lennon (I believe it was ROLLING STONE magazine, among others, that compared Cobain's songwriting genius to Lennon).
