the man who was standing on the door, holding guitar strings in one hand and guitar in the other, and asking SATRIANI to learning him to play..my english is bad,but the truth is the worst....anyway ,LONG FINGERS - good player...cheers! (WHITESNAKE is the best thing, that happen to him...)
@onurthemonur Aye, it's not as if the band was out for 10 years before he joined or anything like that...... and it's not like they had platinum hits (including this song) or anything either...... And obviously, they (and again, usually this song) aren't on every rock compilation album on the market...... and it's not like they survived the 80s and still bring out material...... yep, you hit the nail on the head with that one, these guys (and this song) had hardly any fans.....
@theZoftime dude do you really think that steve vai suits there? is he dancing or playing the guitar? the original version of this song is much more "man-like", and better obviously... he just gave a gay theme to the group... yes he's talented but he has problems with the image thing! the song is awesome but i can't stop hating the video bacause of the vai! that's all
john sykes is great but this solo here and the one steve did on wings of the storm are fucking great. however whitesnake has always had solid guitarists. reb beach and doug aldrich are holding the flag high even now.
OK... I'm straight... but how Vai looks when he begins the solo, he moves sooo smoothly and gracefully as hes playing and staring into the camera ''sit there and watch, i'm about to melt your fucking face''...
@prutsikas lol I know who steve Vai is! lol I was well aware of all his solo stuff before i heard he was in whitesnake! and have several of his DVDs. he is pretty amazing!
@ceegee71 - Just been listening to the original on the radio - paired with Since You've Been Gone and Smoke on the Water. The newer version with Vai has that kind of high-gloss finish to it, and he is a technically very accomplished player: but the bass playing on the original is more to the fore, and it really is quality playing - it drives the song along. I'm going to go with the original as my pick.
was this re-recorded with vai when he joined? I've been listenin to whitesnake a lot the last month or so and this song is different from the version i've been listenin to!
@worldcitizenforever I don't know who's sexier and frankly I don't care, but one thing I know who is the true singer in the equation and that all it matters to me.
@aleksandarfriscic Not always true. Sometimes I agree with a comment, but I don't thumb them up because I'm trying to get the top comment for myself. I'm a selfish bastard like that.

I saw this tour with Vai in 1990. I went to a show in NJ and my guitar teacher is friendly with one of Steves old Berklee buddy. Long Story short, he saw this friend at the show . Never said he man introduce me to Steve? It would of been cool hangin with Whitesnake backstage. But nooooo. Still bummed.

Blackmore found David Coverdale, Zappa found Steve Vai. This is way old and I am embarrassed to say but I might have owned this on vinyl. These guys were Deep Purple as a hair band. If that was Tommy Aldridge on drums Ian Paice would wipe the floor w/him. Tommy never grew up so he could never play in a truly sophisticated. Get out your Eyeliner and Hairspray boys, cuz we are gonna rock and then get laid.
4 You say 50Cent-I Say Led Zeppelin You say Miley Cyrus-I say Whitesnake You say T-Pain-I say Deep Purple You say Flowers-I say Van Halen You say Pink-I say Pink Floyd You say Hip Hop-i say Jimi Hendrix You say R&B-I scream Classic Rock You say hanah montana-i hit you in the face 70% of teenagers have turned to Hip Hop and Rap.If you are part of the 30% that still listen to real music, copy and paste this message to another 5 videos. DON'T LET THE SPIRIT of ROCK die
I saw Whitesnake often, back in the early 80's when they were a band with heart and a blues rock background. Dave, this is a poor cover of a really good song.
I'm 45 years old, grew up in the 80's, best times of my life, the bands, the music, the people, and the nastiest guitar players ever, you will never ever get that kind of music again. Music of today is total crap.
I am not sure how asserting (I emphasize the ASS) Nirvana sucked adds value to this thread. One of the best guitarists (Vai) in a band that did not know when to quit. Of course, no one has ever compared Coverdale to Lennon (I believe it was ROLLING STONE magazine, among others, that compared Cobain's songwriting genius to Lennon). But again, since this is guitar rock, talking about Cobain on this threat is like going to the GOP convention in Obama under-roos.

Hey metalheads,emo's,goths,scene,punks.
Instead of a rock rebellion i propose a new plan.
1 Don't bash other metal & Rock artists we must unite! How can we fight against pop music if we arent even together
2. Watch more metal & Rock videos to get it to the top of the youtube vid list
3.If you like this idea, thumbs it up JUST so people can see it
Copy this in every Metal & Rock Video you watch and we´ll be getting the power

Yes...you are right.
" FFYLNM " has originally been recorded for the album " Ready an' Willing " in 1980.

Both versions are great...it's the agony of choice what song you like better.

Brilliant song, but sadly this version is over produced. you won't get a better version than the original album version, it has such raw power.

Thats an awesome solo. Everytime I hear Steve Vai rip it makes me want to pick up my guitar and everytime I hear EVH play I get totally discouraged.
