The most highly trained driving coppers in England with very, very expensive cars and a helicopter and it took them 3 hours to catch this guy, and even then, it was only because he got caught up by traffic.

If you ran into the shopping centre the police would alert the operators to look for a person of your description and then the operators would track you on multiple cameras and tell the police what direction you are heading in etc. I bet even in Bluewater (Europe's biggest ShoppingCentre) They would eventually catch you.
And to be honest, I would not know where to run from the police. It would mostly be spontaneous I guess.
