Haha what I did to defeat Robert was run around in circles like an idiot until my synchronization bar was full again, then I'd fight him. And if he beat me up too much, I'd start running around again. It was the only way I didn't get killed XD
Best mission in the whole AC series, HANDS DOWN. Assassins Creed 2 was pretty awesome, but I can say without a shadow of doubt that no missions in Brotherhood OR Revelations even came CLOSE to giving me the same feeling that came about when I was 11 years old and going to finally kill Robert De Sable, sometime in early 2008 (probably at the time that this video was uploaded).
This fight gave me hell until I stopped trying to beat it and treated it as an exercise in counter-attacking. I was having an awful turn: down to one health piece with about six templars left. I had been pushing too hard trying to make things happen. I almost gave up and started over when I decided to just keep going and practice countering. It was slow from then on, my health slowly creeping back up, but I never got hit again and ended up killing all the remaining templars and beating Robert.
You just gotta be really good at multi killing being aware of other templars while killing another, thats when counter-killing comes in handy. I'll be honest this level took me 3 times. Yeah it's a b*tch, but you own them all once you know how too.
There's a much easier way to do this fight than running around in a circle - wait in one place and let them attack and press the counter button at the right time when they attack and break every time they grab u I didn't need to run around at all :-) x
@RikimaruTheHulk i killed all the people i needed to kill i synchronisized all viewing spots but cant get any further and de Sables land is flashing in my map but when i go there i still see the wall
@mike44plus182 i only had like 2 more bars than 1 and a half, when i got too low (right before i fought robert) i just ran in circles around the dueling ground until i had full sync then killed him. kinda ruins the spirit of the fight but it works :P
its quicker to use hidden blade and counter all attacks, counter with hidden blade allways kills but counter with sword you sometimes just kick the attacker away

@3amer1986 there's no way to defend when a knight had just broke yours defense (this is the name of the movement), so the best thing to do when fighting against a knight is to get more agressive than with the low rank guards, the good part is that one hour as you increase your rank you'll can do the same and they will have no vantage anymore.
Wow... i've tried this fight (the templars, not Robert) quite literally over 20 times now. The only attacks they do are either the defense breaks or counters, and my counter doesn't go off half the time. This is the only part of the game i've had any problem with so far and i just can't pass it lol
@KillerX3189 doesnt happen when you play in PC. At some point I received heavy, slow attacks 6 times at once, it was all slash slash slash and I have only 1 sync bar left

@MrsPaperCuts the languages change because your in different parts of the world, even though the map doesnt show... German, French? what parts of the game are these? and also all AI speak english, just with accents.

@MegaPrince28 Yes they work, I'm on the pc too the problem is to time exactly to can make the counter, especially on the hidden blade, I've found dificulty too sometimes but it's not the game or the console fault it's us who need to adaptate.
I agree the game is easy. It was hard until I got down the battle/sword fighting system. All you really gotta do is counter every attack and you're pretty invincible. Yeah they might sneak in a few hits but so what.
They changed it for Assassin's Creed 2 where you don't have to simply counter.
How the fuck do you guys fight off guards. I'm still stuck on the fake Robert de Salle (the female one).
I'm basically mashing the Attack button and all I do is get bludgeoned from all directions. What's the secret to counters. I don't understand how I see videos where you guys just sit back and each guard attacks you one by one and you just block all of their attacks. How do you block?
On pc, you use left mouse button to block and just before the enemy is about to hit you, right click (attack) and it should counter like you see in the video, but i cant do this battle with the real robert :( fucking templars
wat i do is i dont fight with them n keeps on running frm one place to another... lol :P and when i see my target near me i quickly assassinate him...its not that easy though but seriously it works :P
i think this was the easiest assasination. there was this one where you had to assassinate a general after he argued with king richard. that was the hardest one. there were four templars with the red helmets. i died like four times. this one was pretty easy.]
Ah, I'd really like to help but I haven't played this game in 2 years, so I don't recall the specifics of the timing. But basically, once you do get the timing of the counter down, that's all you need. If they're hitting you with the guard break then it does sound like your timing is off, but I'm sorry that I can't give any concrete advice, it's just been so long since I played it & I don't own it.
@OsamaBinLooney My advice is, to use counter when they're about to hit you. Example: when their swords have already been swung. If they use the guard break on you, then immediately press dodge once they break your defense. You will dodge their attack, and you can strike back. Take care though, Templars also prefer to counter and dodge.
@OsamaBinLooney its all about timing i found AC1 and AC2 both very easy well the story mode(not all the collectables) but if yo get the timing right in AC1 its a very easy game, and you generaly 1 hit most people, just try to work on countering timing and soon you'll have the game finished :) Gl with it man

you know what is fast and fun way to get rid of guards? make sure your good at countering with the hidden blade and fight with that,,,,, i beleive every couter is a kill... except the grab counter
instead of going through the guards, go towards the end of the gate which should be to the left of the guards, climb up the house and jump to the over the gate
after you complete your investigation return to the assassin's bureau and after you speak to the person there, the location of the funeral will be on your map it is the only way you can reach the funeral.
Been on this for 4 hours and really really pissed off. Nearly demolished my whole house with bare hands. Then watched this vid and did it first time. Cheers alot.
Wow, this fight pissed me off. Anyway, counter all the guards, and once you get to Robert, you may be low on health. Run in a circle (Free running mode, so it's faster), and he will never catch you. Do that until your health is back. Then, once it's up high enough, try doing what the video does. If you get low again, start running again.
btw why are the templar speaking german in the english AC version? XD ( I'm german so I understand them ) in our version they are speaking something arabic I think
the thing i have trouble with is when i fight these kind of guys, they always do the thing where they hit my sword away and attack me. How do i dodge or counter this attack? its making my mad :(
You just want to wait for them to make the first attack and you counter them. If they're hitting your sword away then they're countering you, which means that you're attacking too quick. I hope that helps :)
you have to unlock it i think you get after first assassination on memor block 4. I have the pc version and its hold high proile then as the swing hit space
I always dodge theyre follow-up attack after they knock my sword away. Sometimes after u do this it may leave the enemy open for an attack. But I noticed that overall that is probably the enemies' best card they try to pull on u again and again in the game.
Well, as I said, it's hooked up directly with the cables. I did not film the TV like most people do with cameras. I've had people ask me why the sound is so good if it's a camera, but with it hooked up directly it's not recording anything but what you see and hear on the TV. Someone could be shouting in the same room, it can't pick it up.

It doesn't matter whether the enemies are behind you or whatever, it's all the same. Just hit the button to counter right before they hit you. It's just timing.

You must first complete the 9th Assassination. After that you will be told in the Bureau to go to Arsuf, which will then be unlocked.

best way to do it for me was to run around in circles when de sable started fighting to get my health up then attack him.

On pc, you use left mouse button to block and just before the enemy is about to hit you, right click (attack) and it should counter like you see in the video, but i cant do this battle with the real robert :( fucking templars

wat i do is i dont fight with them n keeps on running frm one place to another... lol :P and when i see my target near me i quickly assassinate him...its not that easy though but seriously it works :P

i think this was the easiest assasination. there was this one where you had to assassinate a general after he argued with king richard. that was the hardest one. there were four templars with the red helmets. i died like four times. this one was pretty easy.]

The game doesn't offer difficulty options, there are no cheats, and this is the PS3.

Ah, I'd really like to help but I haven't played this game in 2 years, so I don't recall the specifics of the timing. But basically, once you do get the timing of the counter down, that's all you need. If they're hitting you with the guard break then it does sound like your timing is off, but I'm sorry that I can't give any concrete advice, it's just been so long since I played it & I don't own it.

@OsamaBinLooney My advice is, to use counter when they're about to hit you. Example: when their swords have already been swung. If they use the guard break on you, then immediately press dodge once they break your defense. You will dodge their attack, and you can strike back. Take care though, Templars also prefer to counter and dodge.

the best way is to get really good countering with the hidden blade

ye but at 1:25 he knocks that guy down and hits him THREE TIMES! and the other guards just stand there an watch stupidly
when I do it when i knock a guy down the other guards cut me off from him and attack me immediately and i cant finish him

@OsamaBinLooney its all about timing i found AC1 and AC2 both very easy well the story mode(not all the collectables) but if yo get the timing right in AC1 its a very easy game, and you generaly 1 hit most people, just try to work on countering timing and soon you'll have the game finished :) Gl with it man

well ya i've beaten already awhile ago but back when i was stuck on it i was countering the EXACT SAME WAY i had been all game and it wasn't working
it's like...you get to this part and all the combat rules instantly change
as for AC 2 ya it was way easier, especially when you can carry around a sh** load of potions

my advice is learn to fight with the hidden blade since it's an instant kill counter that's how i did it

you know what is fast and fun way to get rid of guards? make sure your good at countering with the hidden blade and fight with that,,,,, i beleive every couter is a kill... except the grab counter

instead of going through the guards, go towards the end of the gate which should be to the left of the guards, climb up the house and jump to the over the gate

after you complete your investigation return to the assassin's bureau and after you speak to the person there, the location of the funeral will be on your map it is the only way you can reach the funeral.

Arsuf won't even unlock until you get to it late in the story, at which point it will show up on the map in the Kingdom.

Wow, this fight pissed me off. Anyway, counter all the guards, and once you get to Robert, you may be low on health. Run in a circle (Free running mode, so it's faster), and he will never catch you. Do that until your health is back. Then, once it's up high enough, try doing what the video does. If you get low again, start running again.

the thing i have trouble with is when i fight these kind of guys, they always do the thing where they hit my sword away and attack me. How do i dodge or counter this attack? its making my mad :(

You just want to wait for them to make the first attack and you counter them. If they're hitting your sword away then they're countering you, which means that you're attacking too quick. I hope that helps :)

I always dodge theyre follow-up attack after they knock my sword away. Sometimes after u do this it may leave the enemy open for an attack. But I noticed that overall that is probably the enemies' best card they try to pull on u again and again in the game.

Well, as I said, it's hooked up directly with the cables. I did not film the TV like most people do with cameras. I've had people ask me why the sound is so good if it's a camera, but with it hooked up directly it's not recording anything but what you see and hear on the TV. Someone could be shouting in the same room, it can't pick it up.

It doesn't matter whether the enemies are behind you or whatever, it's all the same. Just hit the button to counter right before they hit you. It's just timing.
