a specialist told my buddy that arching is what injured his back and that many have injured from arching.the specialist recalls 3 professional arena ball players that strained their spine because of the increasing arching technique.i tell you what,even if i wont arche im still going to do some reaserch just to know.there are some record holders that dont arche
I gotta say, usually the injuries occur when ur lowerback & hips are weak or have weak and tight muscles. I remember when I started using the Westside technique for benching my lowerback and hips would hurt EVEN BEFORE lifting the bar. However, after a few weeks of deadlifting, squatting, snatching, etc I didn't and still don't have any issues.
I should mention.... benching is more that just "keeping an arch". Check out the guys (and gals) at Westside Barbell and Elite Fitness Systems, they know thier stuff.

So what about calves, thighs, abs, biceps, lats, traps, glutes and everything else in between their all important to body building too its trying to have the full package.
the bench press is all wrong in this video, the arms should be parralell, otherwise you emply more muscles then you want(only want mostly chest, some triceps n little delts)

Helps arch the back. Apparently an arch in your back helps your bench. I've only ever seen powerlifters do it though.
