  • if she is so good why she left judo competition? she has never been world champ and she barely got bronze at olymopics through repesage.

all her oponents outside judo are joke.

  • @karakteran because she didn't want to do it anymore

  • In regard to all the "this martial art vs that martial art" banter: I train in BJJ, Judo and Muay Thai.... and I love all of them.

  • thats called being hit with the earth

  • I think that if you have well known credentials in Judo like Rousey does, you have to compete in Advanced. Collegiate wrestlers are always pushed into the advanced divisions at tournaments, so yeah Rousey is basically sandbagging if she's in anything other than advanced division. The other option would be to compete in like men's intermediate or something like that.

  • @Krymson86 well it was an advanced division, I was mistaken. and either way it doesn't really matter because they put all the girls in one division. So there you go.

  • I hate that argument that a judoka is only like a blue belt JJ. People need to learn history. Both are derivatives of Japanese Jiu Jitsu. You think there are not some translations there? Either way Rousey is legit. Judo is defintely Legit!

  • judo is not a joke !!!!

  • Kosen Judo FTW!

  • You guys swear Ronda can't beat BB BJJ's. She already have in MMA! Come on.

  • judo and bjj are the are the same bjj copied judo fact

  • i have seen her destroy three female bb bjj on the mat

  • Against a bb on the feet she'll do some damage for sure but the ground transitions on the ground are different. Thats why you can pull or jump guard in sport bjj because that is the focus, ground. That chick was way out classed. No one art is the best they all compliment eachother. Its good to see her kicking butt in mma.

  • jesus, could you imagine if that throw was on concrete? game over.

  • @MrRkellz there are other nastiers throws. In fact depending on the Dojo, they will either no teach them, or if they teach them you are not allowed to apply them during randori. There are throws that can break ribs, and there are some throws thar were originally neck breakers throws. Judo modified them into standing arm bars. Heck someone landed on my bladder 2 weeks ago, and I thought I was going to piss blood..That is Judo

  • luv this girl my future wife any body order a ragdoll sandwich

  • Poetry...

  • LOL, did you see the ref, I think he wanted to call Ippon!

  • Wow Roussey won by something other than arm bar!

  • @iandemagi That actually was an armbar, its just done with the legs. she traps the back of the elbow against her thigh and stretches it out with the other leg. Its a nasty arm bar.

  • @PankrationWarrior Wow...that was pretty bad...

  • I can appreciate world class judo when i see it. It takes commitment, talent, timing, dedication and love of the sport. Judo is a way of life.

  • @Nicoya48 haha, any martial art is a way of life.

  • Rousey comes from Pedro's Judo. Pedro is a strong newaza player. Bjj mostly newaza. She could easily make a transition to Bjj.Just like Dave Camarillo did.On top of that she is a world class judo player. Her judo base is solid and her timing is impecable.

  • @Nicoya48 wow you sound like you study her

  • @Nicoya48 Yeah, you hit the nail on the head. There is a HUGE difference between a state-level or national-level judoka vs. a world-class/Olympic medalist judoka. It's like the difference between a person playing baseball in junior college vs. a MLB All-Star.

  • I'm super late on this but it bugged me so I had to write something.

Why do people always have to say oh she should have been in this division or that division. Well guess what, she wasn't so it's done with. They didn't even have an advanced divison there and Judo is a lot different from grappling and jui-jistsui.

  • they got the name right! massacre

  • DAMN! That was NASTY!

  • YOU GO GIRL. Very nice.

  • bravissima.. è una vita che ci provo a fare sto cazzo di harai goshi ma mi esce solo con gli scarsoni... brava. sono invidioso

  • Yeah, plenty of women are going to have to get use to that. She's an exceptional world class judo competitor. That, in and of itself, qualifies her for inclusion among the best fighters. I'm sure she'll experience growing pains. By and large, though, she's going to go as high as she wants.

  • ronda rousey is my aunt, no joke.

  • Nice throw a combination ogoshi and harai goshi....look the referee ....he is scared.

Ronda rousey is a good judoka......she is an expert ...its not rare.

  • Sandbagging? All I ever hear is how a Black belt in Judo is only at the level of a low end blue belt in jj anyway. LOL. Honestly, I'll bet Rousey could easily hang with female black belts in JJ and she doesn't even do JJ as far as i know.

  • @k0d0kan seriously? please, just don't start.

  • @k0d0kan I totally agree with you Rhonda needs to be in the advance division hands down, just for the fact that she's a world class judo fighter,i mean just with her throws alone puts her a step above many jj females fighters already!!!

  • @Militarytough they didn't have an advanced division. they put all the girls in one division. I was in that division, and i was 16

  • @k0d0kan you do realize that modern day BJJ came from Judo right?

  • @SlipNRip ummm...you need to check your history again. BJJ came from Japanese Jiu-Jitsu. Judo was the sport version of Jiu-Jitsu.

  • Comment removed

  • @unclebraddah japanese jiu-jiu jitsu aka ju jutsu is where judo originated from, and then BJJ was refined from Judo by the Gracie's, so my history isn't wrong, you just chose to go further back to where judo began

  • @SlipNRip Maeda was a jiu-jitsu practitioner then entered Judo competition.

  • @unclebraddah Stop. Maeda clearly stated he was in SUMO before he took JUDO.

  • @OVERCAPITALIZE This b.s. that Maeda or Kimura were ground specialist is morronic. They were complete Judokas. The goal of Jujutsu (killing art and Judo's predecesor) was to kill the opponent. If you do not kill during the throw by snapping the neck, then you must finish him off in the ground. So to say that Judo is lackin gin the ground is moronic. and each time a Judoka mops the floor with brazilian gayjitsus they always have excuses...

  • @OVERCAPITALIZE Did he now? Where does he clearly state that?

  • @k0d0kan - no she doesn't go to JJ or BJJ she said on the recent JRE Podcast. but oviously been training grappling and Judo since 11. can easily hang with any JJ blackbelt

  • @k0d0kan She does not need to learn any brazilian gay jitsu, because bjj is just diluted judo. where are all the magical techniques og bjj? the fact is that she is a Judoka and Judo has a solution for any position and situation. I would only see Sambo/Shooto as superior to Judo because of the leg attacks..

  • That;s my dream of female partner, how could she did a Harai in No Gi?

  • @Dudongo86 deep over hook instead of grabbing belt and grabbing elbow instead of sleeve.

  • @phamax111 Thank you, in my country No Gi is not very popular so I have never tried this Harai.

  • just beautiful

  • Yeah... both girls are awesome! Ronda is immensely talented and very gracious. Great to see good clean competition.

  • What division and weight class is this? Anybody know? I'm impressed by this girl.

  • @Agtren beginner division i think and there wasnt really a weight class, they just put all the girls in one division

  • @CrystalBJudo Wait, why would Ronda participate in beginner's instead of advanced? Sandbagging, much?

  • @Agtren because it was her first no-gi tournament and in advanced they could do leg locks and knee bars and stuff like that

  • @CrystalBJudo So she chose beat up on the unsuspecting beginners. What a feat for an Olympic Silver Medalist. I kid, I kid. Everybody sandbags.

  • @Agtren it doesn't even matter cuz all the girls got put in one division. everyone in that division wasn't a beginner, just me and ronda. and i really don't appreciate you saying that about ronda, so you really shouldn't be talking crap about situations that you don't know anything about

  • @CrystalBJudo I am not talking crap, I'm speaking the truth. Do you know what sandbagging is or do I need to get you a definition from the dictionary?

At any rate, I don't really hold it against her, because like I said, sandbagging is the norm.

  • @Agtren i know exactly what sandbagging is, and even if i didn't i wouldn't need you to get me a dictionary. do you see how much sense that doesn't make? or do i need to explain it to you?

At any rate, I'm not going to argue w/ someone that i don't even know. esp. not over the internet because it's downright stupid, and i'm bigger than that.

and those "unsuspecting beginners" weren't beginners. they were in the advanced division. and if you cant realize why she went in beginners then so be it

  • @Agtren This is crystal's dad: crystal and ronda weren't sandbagging. all the girls that they fought were bjj blue and purple belts. Crystal was in beginner and Ronda was in advanced but since they put all the girls together they weren't allowed to do leg locks. I know what sandbagging is and neither one of them were sandbagging, they fought whoever was there. the tournament offered $500 for the adv. division and when they found out ronda was fighting they canceled the adv. division.

  • @CrystalBJudo

1st part to Mr. Crystal's Father

Alright, sir, I see what you are saying. Thank you for clarifying. I take back what I said.

    2nd part to Miss Crystal

I hardly meant to offend you or Ronda. Still, girls like you are even more attractive when you are angry. A pleasure to look at. If you have got more videos of yourself or Ronda competing, please send me a link.

    Agtren.

  • Most likely a straight armbar with the legs doing the sub.

  • That harai goshi was absolutely ridiculous. Hopefully we'll see more no gi judo stuff as the submission grappling game evolves. Wrestling style single and double leg takedowns seem to be higher percentage but a well time hip throw or foot sweep seems to put you in a much more favourable position. We just need some more people to teach these things in a no-gi context.

  • @DaRumble It's not an issue of teaching in a no-gi context, it's an issue of how much time the practitioner has put into developing judo game from the ground up with a good foundation. That means going to the Judo dojo, wearing the gi, learning the throws in the gi, starting off as a white belt in a new martial art, and not trying to become Karo Parisyan in one week.

  • Fantastic harai goshi! But what was the sub?

  • @christlicker

Can't tell, but looks like it could be Udegarami from scarf hold. I haven't done that in a while but when you are pinning the opponent, with your left side towards the ground.. its with opponent's upper arm on your left thigh, forearm and wrist under your left calf.

  • Need come back Fredericksburg va we miss ya great job on your medal in the olympics

  • Ronda just ragdolled her.

  • im in the bak round im in all black she did this shortly after i did a judo throw to i think her was alil better though, i seen it live though i was like dayum my eyes got big lol

  • You know it's a good throw when the referee flinches.

Also, I think I'm in love.

  • So you've done some judo...5 stars

  • Trap the arm with your legs and just press the shoulder down.

    Awesome throw!

  • @nowaydo Are you talking about a Japanese Armbar?

  • That was a devasting Sweeping hip throw! Props.

  • Great looking throw.

    What weight category?

Couldn't see what hold or technique caused the losing competitor to tap out. Pressure on the wrist or elbow?

  • oops..I got frightened...
