  • i wonder what tuning is he in?

  • this song is bone chillin ,its cold but it fair! and i must say its the truth. but the best part is the way he make that guitar talk, thats that soulful oldschool chops! the kind that you can't help your self by moving to the groove. i can play this for the pope and he'll strart clappin & stumpin his feet to the beat.

  • Amazing to hear the little story at the end, made my hair stand on end and my eyes well up.

  • pure soul!

  • This is the most badass song I've ever heard.

  • I love your singing and playing. Your the genuine article my man. It really made my day to hear that. I am going to try, and learn it myself. I play National steel body and electric guitars on youtube under boyCary

  • whew!

  • this is incredeble

  • The blues is real, that's why the blues lives on.

  • His voice is immense, palpable!!

  • what kind of tuning could it be? :O

  • This one is available on CD as I have it on a collection...

  • man. it doesn't get much better than this!

  • the look in this mans eyes says it all - I believe the late Mr.Willie and Mrs.Lorine Rivers deserve an honorable mention having such influence on this truly charismatic and passionate individual that those who hear him preach his wisdom through his music, are moved to continue that legacy in our own lives for generations to come.

  • This is awesome, to see my Uncle Boyd singing and playing the guitar again with fervor, passion, and soul. Great memories indeed... Your legacy will never be forgotten... The late Mr. Willie and Mrs. Lorine Rivers would be very proud of their son's accomplishments.

  • Man there is a lot of feeling in this music.

  • So who did the first recording of this arrangement? barbecue bob?

  • @busessuck1

We will never know the first, but Muddy did it in his 1942 Lomax recordings, another could have been Blind Willie Johnson, as its a traditional verse.

  • Bless Alan Lomax's cotton socks for recording this AND for now making it available to us all, fortunate people that we are.

So much soul in Boyd River's singing and playing. Just incredible.

Finding this video has made my day !
