This is the way all slot car tracks run. Are everyone i have ever been to anyways. This is not your Little SCX 1:32 scale home cars they are real 1:24 scale cars running on a real hand build track at a slot car hobbie shop. And it is done this way in the UK as well.

Stock racing doesn't really translate very well into slot car racing, imo. The whole thing really needs reinventing, if you ask me. In general the speeds need to come down; the cars need internal power and track side fast charging to simulate fuel stops; cars need to be steerable, so the same line can be raced; tyres need to be the limiting factor and their needs to be more setup options.

In other words; that's needed is a halfway house between rc and slots.

IMHO, the scale speed is too fast and the track too simple. A more complex track would allow for more realistic scale speed and more close racing, which can be wonderfully exciting to see and race. Not that video does any justice to slot racing, please check out my videos to see how we do it.

It can be more fun than you think. I have been racing these and RC cars for over ten years and enjoy both in thier own time. If you get guys or girls who enjoy it also it is a lot of fun.

Each race is 4 segments. Every driver runs the same amount of time in each lane to even things out.

it's not a race! it's basically a series of timed stages. there's no realism, no skill and, for me, no fun.

I'm not upset, was just getting your opinion on why you thought it was stupid. It's not like RC racing where you control every move your car makes. I thought your profile said you were from the UK so maybe it's different down there. The 3-2-1 guy is running the power switch to the track by the lane counters. Most nights we don't have that many cautions. This was one of the nights we did. I see your point, this is just the way we do it though.

@lezbrucelee That's not necessarily true. While the inside lane has a shorter distance to travel, it has a tighter turn, so the driver needs to back off more. The driver on the outside can go faster without crashing.

@odysseas897 yer i got a proper track 2 tier, got 14 corners that u cant go flat out round so u need to have some skill, n both lanes are equal distance so you can have a proper race, Besides my comment was right read the comments below it says they run a series of heats n u run on each rail then add the times, n why is that........ Cos whoever has the inside track wins,

Damn those cars oversteer and everything. Very exciting. I like a slot car track like this. I don't like the big slot car tracks with a lot of fancy curves and underpasses. THIS is a racetrack.

Before my friend died he used to own a big place with a track like that, a king track, and a drag strip. i remember i was on the oval and i flew off and busted up the front end of my car! sweet track

thats going to happen anywhere you go. i was just racing tonight with a fathers cursing in front of their kids. people are just as competitive with these as they are with the real thing. we spend time preparing these things for our race day and when stuff like that happens it does get on your nerves quite a bit.

Yeah, its really cool cause the mice are simply running along inside the car, and then they just look like they are motorised cause its a cover ontop and bottom of the car. the mice get pretty competitive, and that why they're so loud.

But these mice can go loads faster i think, but it looks like the track has been oiled. I Have a set of mice racers at home, that how i know.

Here is some advice from a slot car driver from the 60s.f*** will not keep the cars on the track,how you handle the throttle does-Squeeze easy.How you handle your mouth is what will get you thru life or not. Kids watch these videos.How many times did you guys say it in 2:00 minutes?

Correct. I grew up two blocks away. Do a search for Raceway Park 1971 and I have another clip up. I have a website called RacewayParkHistory dot com that has about 4000 old Raceway Park pictures.

We are off for a month until February. I think total length from tip of corners is either 18 or 22 feet not sure. I will try and find out.

Do you guys add some sort of oil on the track let them fishtail around the corner? Also is that why the track looks so shiny? Regardless its always fun to watch. Too bad it takes quite a bit of space.

No, they fishtail all on their own. In fact the shiny stuff you see is "tire juice" we put on the tires to keep the cars from falling off. If we didn't juice the cars wouldn't stay on cause they are going so fast.
