I grew up in a khaleej, & we did hire help sometimes, they were always treated like family, they ate the same place we ate, & some of my arab friends found it repulsive, & it was because of their ignorance may allah forgive them. But I seen the extreme scenario of both situations, I seen those who treated their maids like animals ( those usually are the ones who were ignorant on what islam is about) & I seen those who made me want to be a better person from the way they treated their workers.
