I think that the reason why he was so rough with her was because she believed she shouldn't or couldn't feel romantic emotions. Forcing her made her realize that she could feel these emotions and that it was ok.
Since Rachael is a replicant/droid, this is not a true rape.
It is very likely that Deckard is doing a brute force emotional programming on her, to increase her emotions memory. However, it is very likely that he takes advantage of this as well. :}
The sex part is almost like a rape. The way he slams the door on her, then pushes her against the blind, then tells her to do stuff. It killed the movie for me the first time round. ThenI saw it again and looked past it.
One of the most beautiful marriages of sound and visuals I've ever seen in a masterpiece of a film thats practically full of sequences where sound and visuals combine together in a truly magically fashion.
This movie is a timeless work of artistic genius and breathtaking beauty that bears countless repeat viewing
@saulo07 thanks saul - its just that so many scenes in this movie give me goosepimples, more so than any other movie I've ever watched (and I've watched a lot of movies !)....................and thats even after multiple viewings. Its really an incredible cinematic achievement - and to think Ridley Scott made 'Alien', yet another massively influential, groundbreaking work of brilliance, only 3 years prior to this, makes it even more amazing !!
