  • Looked a little rough on first flight but second flight was great. Very Smooth.

The plane looks great both up close and in flight!

    Good Job!

  • Paul, yes I got the watt meter and motor, thanx, Just finished cutting out the F-117 weather here not good cold wet and windy, I'll follow up with pics, of the build.

  • Saw the plans, so the throws in black and white on the plans...1 inch +/- , 3/4 for beginners. All over it. I'm going to try ail differential to see if it makes it smooth as silk. Still beautiful plane. thanks Paul.

  • Awesome Ruby1230! Thanks for watching and Good luck with the Build. I hope it turns out great for you and flies awesome too. Please feel free to send us pictures and share video if you do make it. We would love to see it. Thanks again!

    Paul

  • I made a trip to Walmart specifically to buy foamboard. I'm starting my build tomorrow morning. Awesome! How much throw on the roll +/- you ended up with to make it smooth?

  • Plane looks good. When I am maidening an unproven plane, I also start on low rates and low throttle. I have gotten into much more trouble with too much throw and too much speed that having too little. At least you do not arrive at the crash site as fast.

  • Thanks jb753! You are totally right about reducing the settings for a maiden flight. Usual me, I was in a rush and impatient and forgot to do that, LOL. Oh well. now i have a crinkled nose, LOL. It did fly nice though once i did reduce the aileron throws. Thanks for watching!

  • Paul , F-117 flight looked really good , I like the position of the servos and attachment points to the horns looked like they were very short and stable. Waiting on the plans to post , will surely be my next build.

  • Thanks Vienna3109! i was going to make the servos more inboard, but then thought it would be easier and have less flex if we kept it simple. Not as clean looking, but seemed to work pretty good, with less flex and give. Oh, did your prize make it to you in the mail ok? Hope so. Thanks again!

    Paul

  • Wel thers yor probem paul the noz iiis al smunchd up!!!!!!!!! Looks great Paul I just went last night and bought a bunch of foamboard and razorblades can't wait to build this one. Keep up the good work.

    Thanks!!!

  • Thanks gripchion! haa haa, yeah, maybe the mangled nose was the cure. I'm just glad i got it flying in the end. I should have the plans done and posted by the weekend, maybe earlier if i can squeeze some time in to finish them up. Thanks again!

  • Nice plane Pauly. Sorry about the crash. I thought you were building all the planes with epp. I still think that this is one of the best looking planes you guys have built. Keep up the good work and I hope you get some better weather out there.

  • Thanks Mike-O! Yeah, bummer on the first crash. that was all my fault though by having too much Aileron throw. Most planes are still EPP, but quite a few of our friends and viewers asked if we could also make some more Foamboard planes. So I decided to make this one out of foamboard. I'm thinking of making another one, larger and out of EPP sometime soon. We will also be making more foamboard planes too.

  • can u plz update the templates on your site thank you

  • gagik999 thanks for the comment. I will be updating the website probably later this week. Once I finish drawing up the plans, they will be posted for everyone to download for free. If you haven't already, you may want to sign up for our Twitter account. we announce all videos and blog entries there. Thanks again!

  • Looked REAL smooth in the air! Well, after the second toss anyway! HAHA! Great lookin plane Paul! 5*

  • Thanks SEBratt! Yeah, it rolled crazy fast before I adjusted the Aileron throws. Once that was fixed it flew really nice. I'm going to see if i can fix the nose and probably will build a bigger EPP version in the near future. Plans coming soon. Thanks again!

  • Looking good on the second throw and she looked well dialed in after that ;-) the rolls were cracking so all in all top job mate = 5*

  • Thanks startazz! It a fun plane to fly. Actually pretty easy to fly once I got the Aileron throws right, LOL. Too bad for the nose though... Thanks again startazz!

  • So about 1/4" up/down an the aileron. Nice flying plane good job :>)

  • Thanks for watching Blackbeardthepilot! it think the throws are betweeen a 1/4 and 1/2 inch. I will measure where they are set and add that note on the plans so hopefully it will help anybody wanting to build it. Thanks again!

  • There you go now you got it! Nother great job! Keep on kickin it!

  • Thanks YouTwoba! yeah, i'm glad it flew well. Just a little bummed I smashed the nose on the first toss though, LOL. Oh well, guess it gives me an excuse to build it out of EPP now.

  • oh mann...nose busted up on first throw...so frustrating...gladly it flew again man :)..flew good man after DR settings adjusted.... nice work Paul...Rock!

    Jacques

  • Thanks Brother! Yeah it was a bummer I damaged the nose on the first toss, LOL. Oh well thats how it goes I guess with foamboard. I will most likely make one out of EPP latter since I love the look of this plane. Take it easy Jacques! Rock on in the Netherlands too!

  • That F117, looks toooo narrow!! wow.

  • Too narrow?? Well it is scaled width wise the same as the real plane. only the trailing edge of the wing is altered from the real proportions.

  • Thanx for blinking Paul!

  • haa haa, I think I'm the opposite of Frank, I blink too much because my eyes are always tired from being up late...

  • Nice Work.. Great Flight.

  • Thanks ARCTURUS323!

  • After your adjustments it really leveled out and flew great. That plane will roll on a wire. Great flying.

  • Thanks Johndog35! It is a nice Flying plane with the correct Aileron Throws. Hope to have plans done soon. yhanks for your support!

  • ff-117! rocks now with the ailerons dialed in. did you reinforce the nose with carbon?

    5*

  • Thanks shaneeeek! No carbon in the nose, just elmers foamboard and some tape & hot glue. Thanks too for the 5*!

  • lands as nice as the delta it is.

    plenty fast too.

  • Thanks for the comment and for watching 0MoTheG! Does fly like a Delta, guess because it pretty much is one with the design I made.

  • awsome Paul, I think a prop with more pitch would work out much better. i tend to overprop slightly when it's colder because the air is thinner and the motor can cool better. Your 117 does have some serious airflow compared to the one i'm currently flying. i had to put 30% expo to keep the roll under control too. i think you now have all the plans for every 1 of my favorite park jets! how do you like your new airtronics radio? i'm looking into getting one as a reward to myself

  • Thanks Ken! Thanks too for your thoughts on a prop. In the future I will try some different setups and see what works best. Anyway, it did fly real nice once I adjusted the Ailerons. Oh, the Airtonics radio works awesome. Seems less glitchy than my DX6i. So far I am really liking the new radio. For the price I don't think you can beat it. I think I may be switching all my planes over to this radio. I just saw they also have a cheaper 6 ch receiver for it as well as the 7 and 8 ch receivers.

  • my friend also has had good luck with his RDS8000. i wanted to wait a year to see if something would break or see if there were any range problems but nope. so it looks like thats my next purchase!

  • Cool, good to hear your friend has had it a while with no problems. That is good news. i am really happy with it so far. i used it on the Jupiter and my revised EPP Jet. both were flying out pretty far and had no range problems..

  • pity that it can only fly left turns... :)

  • LOL . . Paul forgot to add the NASCAR logo to the plane. Great job on the plane Paul !!

  • haa haa, your right! I don't know why I kept flying in a circle. Hmmm... my last name is Petty, maybe I am related to Richard Petty and just don't know it...

  • Hmmmm, yeah, don't know why i only flew in a circle that day with this plane. I guess i was just keeping it close because of bad weather and the field was a bit muddy.. And like BobMurch said, maybe I need to join NASCAR, LOL..

  • very strong nose too, that went in with a thump.

  • The nose did hold up fairly well considering the hard hit it took. Hoping I can cut out and replace the mangled part. Anyway, it was much stronger than Depron.

  • awesome guys, real cool. i know a few people who will want to build that from scratch. 5* guys.

    looks real fast too

  • Thanks Mikey! I hope to have the plans finished and posted by the weekend.
