@quadbassblaster I went with the roland td9 rocker. The td20, however nice, is well out of my price range. They threw in a high hat stand and throne. I might upgrade the kick to their top of the line to get more dynamic range. I think it's called the kd9. It's the same kick that's on the td20.

@CamiloSantana ,,dont waste money on upgrading the kick..having a big dynamic volume range on a bass drum is not hard to achieve even with a standard rubber kick pad...and u dont need a MESH pad for a bass drum,.its ur foot playing with a hard steel pedal...u cant tell the difference !! i keep my bass velocity on full anyways so no matter how hard or soft i hit i get a uniform kick sound. works for me for fast bass playing. thats what all the pros do, to get an even uniform bass drum volume.

@quadbassblaster jazz, man. There are a lot of subtle sounds out there. One drum can have three to five different tones, depending on how you hit them. Electric loses a lot of that. I accept this - until I get lucky enough to find another sound-proof booth to practice in.

hey man props to you I personaly like electric kits for live use (Im mostly a guitar player so im sucked into the effects world as is as well as a synth keyboard player) no doubt the intensity of acoustic drums is amazing but when you change between 7 snares in the studio for 10 different songs shouldn't you be able to live? and common a normal musician just wants to do that at the touch of a button on stage!

hi how do you record because wen i put my drum kit through mic input i get a really distorted bass.

u need to have a little volume adjuster in the cable that does into the mic in jack of the camera...lower the volume alot from there...cause the mic input is very sensitive and will create distortion. use a splitter at the headphone output of the module and plug in ur headphoneos, which will be getting full volume.

If you check around on ebay you might be able to put together a similar kit (minus the acoustic cymbals) for under $1000. He's got two Yamaha DTXpress kits rigged together. They're relatively inexpensive and sound great. I highly recommend the DTXpress series if you can get a hold of one.
