Great Job! Perfect actually, note for note. And as for playing along to the song - duh! What else are you supposed to do? You didn't miss any notes either.
This is one of the reasons Taylor split, his guitar work is far & away much better than Keith. Keith is a writer & nothing more than an average Blues player & a Fabulous Rock & Roll guitarist. He has never been known as a "lead player" just an outstanding rythmn player who I've been trying to copy for years.
The Stones never devolved into a "guitar band", even though they always have some really interesting guitar parts. The Stones were always about songs.
Nice playing- Sounds just like Mick Taylor- Where is Mick Taylor? What does he do? I bought an album of his back in the 1990's Haven't heard of him since. Anyone know?
Guitardds. Great playing man! Can you tell me which scale this is? You seem to come back on the D note every time, but it looks like a B pentatonic scale. Maybe you could explain a bit more.
@shwat17 The B blues scale is based of the B minor pentatonic scale. The only difference is the added flat-fifth (the blue note). The keys of B minor and D major contain the same notes. This song resolves to D, so it is in the key of D major.
B minor pentatonic (and blues) and D major pentatonic look virtually identical on the fret board. The only difference really being the underlying harmony, and perhaps the notes you end your licks on.
Hey man. Great job with the solo. I was just wondering if you could make a video of you playing this slowly. I'm trying to learn this, but it is hard to see what your playing at full speed. Thank you.
Certainly Keith gets the most attention of all the guitarists for sure. But, I guess I see it from a guitar players perspective when I say when you look at all the classic guitar players in any list of acknowledgement, usually none of the Stones guitarists make that list. Sad, they all contributed to their unique sound.
Yeah, Taylor is one of best guitar player of all time!!!!! Amazing felling!!!! I like Taylor very much!!!! Technically is better guitarist than Keith. But Keith best riffmaster.
I would say Keith's contribution to the band has always been overshadowed. It's a shame people just identify him with being "Leathered and wrinkled" rather than how he plays. Keith is actually very talented and really one of rock's nicest guys.
so yah man..where can i get one of these.. do'es this work only for electric guitars or do'es it hook in to computers only or can it hook to a TV. or radio or what.. i have an Acustic. with no plug ins.
AAWHH MAN KICK ASS KICK ASS.... CAN YA PLEASE TAB THIS OUT... send me an e-mail. Man i been looking all over fpr this solo. do ya got sweet virginia to..
Very good. Now here's the raw comments. You need to spruce up that vibrato. Also, there are a couple of places where you hit an F# instead of a G. Particularly, there's a bend & hold C&W lick that should be built around the G and not the F#. I prefer to call it a Joe Walsh lick. Walsh is huge Taylor fan (Walsh knows the solo to "Vacation").
Let me stress that you did a nice job. It's good for anyone's playing to learn Mick Taylor solos.
Hey man, Thanks! I dont have the "official tab" so if Im hitting a G where I should be hitting a F# I'm not to surprised, I slowed it down and tried to duplicate what I heard but I know sometimes the ear can be off. Id love to get better at vibrato too. Thanks for the Walsh reference, Im going to check out "vacation" and see if its in my skill level range. Thanks again for your comment:)~ Rock On!!
One thing I like to slow tracks down is the Tascam Guitar Trainer, Im contemplating making a vlog on it actually. It loops whatever length section you want and is speed adjustable slower or faster. Do you want me to make a video on it? I can. Let me know. Peace:)~

If the song is D A G, why does the solo get played in B? I'm still learning here so let's help a brother out.

@MrElmoLewis
It is a D major pentatonic scale. It contains the same notes as B minor pentatonic scale (D's relative minor) but starts on a D note.
