  • They are just so amazing and they have such guts choosing Month of May as their Grammy opening.....they just don't really care what you think. The crap that the radios play because of mundane popularity is why I have not tuned in many a year. The best we humans have to give are appreciated by 10% of the population??? That sound about right? Its taken me me my whole life to appreciate most things....it took me one song to know AF was in a very elite group of musicians.

  • well fucking deserved grammy win...you will enter the Hall of Fame...i guarantee it

  • Shocking...that this actually was on national television.

  • Lol who remember having a seizure watching this

  • love the backup screams lol

  • Esta cancion le gusto a mi apa

y para que le guste una cancion o un grupo de esta decada

    esta muy dificil

    awante arcade !!

  • Good stuff. Fairplay.

  • It's called album of the year for a reason not most popular album of the year. Big difference

  • I'm so glad Arcade Fire won that award. They are a band with a great non-sappy positive massage that has truly done their homework, created original music, and honed their love skills. They deserve every success they get as opposed to a lot of the commercial acts that were up for the award too. GaGa and Eminem are great and all, but they don't have nearly the work ethic or creativity of a band like Arcade Fire.

  • @TheAndyWyatt1000 no work ethic or creativity? Do you really think that Eminem and Gaga got where they are without creativity and work ethic???

  • HOLY FUCKING SHIT BALLS THIS IS NUCKING FUTS!!

  • @Althalus1990 I respect if you don't like them, but it's utterly absurd to say their songs don't mean anything even if you don't like them. Maybe Win doesn't fit in what most people consider "good" singing, but his way of singing is unique. All i'm sayin' is that this bunch of true artists are perhaps the greatest band of the decade, not for their singing or virtuosity, but for their true commitment to music and arts. I am peruvian and i find it sad that you as a canadian don't appreciate this.

  • @PhilGar21 You being Peruvian means something to a Canadian not appreciating one band from Canada?

  • @izaskis Win and Will Butler were born and raised in the USA. Do a little research.

  • @Althalus1990 They've been quite famous for many years now. You're quite behind. I can't help but ask a few questions like why did you start with this song since its the 10th track on the album. And what do you mean by #12? And its hard to say that the lyrics say nothing. There are many overarching themes throughout the album. Its actually not to difficult to find them. And as far as insulting them...why do it since you haven't even listened to the album?

  • @afts13 It only seems like I posted this here first because I did so on every song in the album.I hoped that by the end I would change it and something I'd like would come up, but nothing did. I meant number 12 because thats as far as they made it before they won the award. It is ridiculous that an album that did not even make #1 for even a second could win album of the year.I have listened to the whole album, because I didn't want to be one of those people that judges something without trying it

  • @Althalus1990 Grammys have little to do with album sales ... you're confusing it with Billboard. Anyway the Suburbs debuted on Billboard album charts at #1 US. So either way you're fucked.

  • @Althalus1990 Actually it debuted #1 in many countries including the US. It reached #12 after winning this award but by the time it won this award all their fans already owned the album. Not only are you wrong there but your whole premise is wrong. So what if an album doesn't reach #1 (which it did). Does popularity really equate to greatness? If so then your whole view on music is pretty warped.

  • @afts13 The award isn't for other countries. It never reached number one in the US. An award for best album should go with statistics. These days most people already know they like the music they buy, therefore, the most bought album would be the best album.

I'm done talking about this, neither of us will change our opinions. We both need to move on from this. I gave my opinion and I've debated it with dozens of people now. I'm not backing down so you can just have your opinion.

  • @Althalus1990 Thats fine if you don't want to talk about it anymore but you should not state false things.

First here is a citation that The Suburbs debuted #1 in the US

    music.yahoo.com/blogs/chart-watch/week-ending-aug-8-2008-taylor-swift-returns.html

Second the Grammys are not only for American artists. It is not about statistics. It is about merit as defined by each individual voter.

  • Fuck yeah!!!

  • Canadians rule!

  • YEA!!! all hail Arcade Fire, Cage the Elephant, The Bravery and all those who exert effort to save people from Bieber and his likings!

  • Indie/Alt Rock will convert the poor lost souls of pop nonsense into sensible human beings

  • @AeroSpaceBoy130 great comment one of the best I read in a while!

  • If I ever have to fight to death, I want this song playing.

  • the best part is when everybody were like WTF who are these guys, then they one and they were still WTF.

  • This isn't great coverage. But then again, what coverage could justify the awesomeness of the best live band around?!

  • I love this song! I couldn't stop screaming after I saw that they won. Well deserved too! Any other person or group would have put out a pop, bubble gum, seen-it-before, performance.

  • 13 people didn't make a record in the month of May.

  • During this performance, the Grammy people scratched out 'Lady Gaga - The Fame Monster' on the Album Of The Year card, and quickly wrote 'Arcade Fire - The Suburbs'.

  • Yes INDEED! In the Month of May - Orchestral Punk Rock -

  • For a much better performance of this song, check it out live on Later with Jools Holland! PURE AWESOMENESS!!!

  • LONG LIVE ALTERNATIVE ROCK! may it destroy the crappy pop music

  • LONG LIVE ALTERNATIVE ROCK!

  • ok, like the CD version, it's all I've got to listen to in the car - BUT WISH WISH I was listening to this!

  • put out a live album! this has so much energy! not like the CD version - LIVE is always SOOOOOO much better, if the band has talent.... (you know the types that don't) Arcade Fire IS gifted!

  • i really dont think the bmx bikes were needed, pretty usless if you ask me

  • I was watching this as I got into bed. I stayed up even though I was dead tired so I could watch Arcade Fire perform. You can imagine I didn't sleep after this.

  • Please don't call Arcade Fire "Indie." They defy labels. They are a force, not a band from a genre.

  • hate the lights

  • Indie Best - Fuck the rest...

Everyone thought Lady Gaga or Katy Perry or some other damn fame idiot would win

but Arcade fucked them up :D

  • The lead singer Win Butler was born in Truckee, California and raised in Texas!

His brother Will is also in the band.

  • Best grammy closue ever. Arcade Fire live rocking the hell out of everyone. Best album prize.. winner ARCADE FIRE! One more song cause they gave a fuck they show was over!!! Ready to start!!!

  • Every American in that audience is thinking "Fucking Canadians are AWESOME."

  • 13 people got seizures!

  • @DamesDolman Agreed. I started with their EP and immediately jumped from that, to Neon Bible, and ultimately to this. When I first listened to this, it immediately became one of my most listened to albums. This album's sick.

  • Imagine if they replaced Regine's drumstick with an axe and sent her out into the audience

  • they rocking THE SHIT out of their GRAMMY !^^

  • @DamesDolman Their music brings hope to this mainstream shitty music industry.

  • I'm so happy they won... I fuckin love them !!!!

  • This is very joy division. I like.

  • They sound like a terrible garage band. Maybe it's this one song. I don't know, but come on this was not up to par for winning album of the year. If you wanted a rock album to win it should have been Muse's Resistance or Pearl Jam's Backspacer who have been around longer and are more respectable.

  • @pcmusicluvr43 that was a stupid comment. on many levels.

  • @pcmusicluvr43 Um, "Resistance"? "Backspacer"? I'm sorry, but Muse sounded like Queen Tribute plays the Roxy on that album and Pearl Jam haven't been good since "Binaural". True, this song isn't like other songs on "The Suburbs" but that doesn't make it bad. This was unquestionably the best record of 2010, a year which saw A LOT of great releases from a lot of great people (Gil Scott Heron springs to mind) so you might, y'know, want to think carefully before your next response. Take your time...

  • @pcmusicluvr43 fuck you, seriously.

  • "2009/2010 wanna make a record how I felt then" the "(Cant Get No) Satisfaction" of our Era... fuck yeh

And the fucking background vocal?? "Whoa-Oh-Oh-Oh" Fleetwood mac stylee Sickness.

  • They opened with this at Coachella '11......safe to say the noise from the crowd was deafening...

  • wow? horrible. what is so good about this band? im not hearing it or seeing it. no wonder they weren't heard of. By the way, im not trolling.

  • @illDieTrying92 As with anything you may like or not like AF....Check out on You Tube their "Reading 2010" performance - there is a two part link for the full concert - judge from that..

  • @illDieTrying92 I tried hating them before I listened to them...you should listen to the original or a better quality sounding performance..the mix wasnt the best...give em a chance...i didnt think they were that great...listen to the lyrics....pure love and angst...fucking sick a big fuck you to "Rock" Radio and Pop...fuck if anything thank god something thats not lady gaga

  • @illDieTrying92 hahahahaha oh my god, your ignorance is fucking hilarious.

  • i think they should have performed we used to wait or the suburbs instead

  • @darrent96 I was thinking Half Light II or Sprawl II

  • The guy below me is trolling. Don't reply to him, you'll only excite the douche.

    Don't feed the trolls

  • @Kheldonar why say it twice ?

  • @Kheldonar Kid, you're lost....You're neck deep in the suburbs, and us kids know you're not welcome.

  • hell yeah, long live rock.

  • A middle finger to the music industry and their followers

  • Does anybody else hate the idiots on bikes?

  • @nathandeming that idiot is Matt Hoffman. a legend.

  • better than the album version

  • Arcade Fire are perfect in my eyes. So let me stick up for a few opinions. Neon Bible was a fantastic album. Someone said their songs aren't well written... what the heck is wrong with you? Their songs are VERY, VERY well written. And last, that was a great performance.

  • @ahhitsshane I was just telling a pal that Arcade Fire is PERFECT myself. I don't think I have ever used the word "perfect" to describe a band.

  • What a legend, that William Butler.

  • THIS SONG IS SO FUCKING EPIC. This is so much better than the album recording! (Not that I think it should ever replace the album version. It fits in the context of the other songs).

  • Comment removed

  • There is almost a punk edge, like you would expect from the Clash, except prettier, awesome really.

  • @chukmaty I'm sensing Billy Idol, too.

  • Viva Montreal!

  • @viperchris34 Not from there nor have i been there, but fuck yeah!

  • is there a better quality video of this?

  • fuck this song is epic.

  • Arcade Fire - Rococo (at Juno Awards 2011) FUCKING AMAZING!!!!!!

  • @jepet1982 amen

  • Best band on the planet

  • Whoever screamed "Gah gah gah gah" at at 0:57 just echoed exactly what I hear in my head every time I listen to the album version.

  • SOOOOoooooOOOOO sick!!! This is better than the recorded version

  • take that Grammy i bet they give you a real performance for ones not some commercial off tune bullshit performance like MR usher and little beaver this is a real band made out of real musicians..... this people is what a live performance is congrats ARCADE FIRE you deserve all the best of things that life has to offer

  • The mix is so shitty

  • i like it!!!!!!!!! :D

  • great song choice and it truly is one of my favorite bands of all time but i do not like how the grammys made them sound. didnt surprise me though since they managed to screw up bob dylan and mick jaeger. i guess when there is actually more than one sound going on (let alone 9 or 10) at one time, they dont know what to do with it all and it didnt really blend together well

  • @Runciechachichu I agree. If the drum was all over the place it would be to much. It's perfect as is.

  • Wake Up was the song where i first heard Arcade Fire and I bought their album the first day it came out and i fell in love with it and they deserved the Album of the Year...well done

  • Must say I did not care for this when I heard it on the Grammys but I have re listened to this band and really like them. Some times when a band is a bit different it takes me time to really listen to them to really see how good they are. Sometimes I am one step behind what is good. Great indie rock band. I have them on my ipod now. You really have to listen to a band or music to know if you like it or not. You can also not like something but that does not mean they are not talented.

  • @jakevanfan Indie rock? WTF?

They are not indie, not at all.

    Inform u first please, sr

  • @davolavas yes they are indie Lol the bass player is my cousin and he's here most of the time i think i would know -.-

  • @davolavas Wait, so you're saying that this band, who is signed to an independent label, is not independent? :P

  • Month of may seems like half of a song really. There's no texture and no dynamics. There's just one stream of single notes from the instruments going up or down a step in scale and some of the most nondescript vocals I've ever heard just bleating out blandly buried in the mix. Oh, and the drummer needs to throw in more than one drum pattern.

  • @o0Evangelion20140o

it's a homage to punk.. which follows the exact same song dynamics which you listed... however, if you actually listen to the song, you can distinguish the different drum patterns... I've counted at least 3?

  • @o0Evangelion20140o have you heard the recorded version?

  • @o0Evangelion20140o

Oh, and you need to listen to the full album to understand the context of this song. On a whole album of a lot of mid-tempo songs, this is kind of a brake from that and it fits perfectly.

  • This blew me away. I'd heard of them before, so I was expecting it to be good. I did not expect this. They saved the best for last if you ask me. Arcade Fire blew everyone (GaGa, Bieber, Eminem, Lady Antebellum, etc.) out of the water. Those lights were fantastic by the way! I think this was a great song choice. There was no rock and roll (other than MUSE) at the show. It was all Rap, Pop, and Country. Mick Jagger did a soul song btw. Im not saying I hate the other artists. AF FTW.

  • holy fuck

  • That screaching voice is fucking annoying loved the performance not that screaching voice

  • This was the moment Indie Rock rose up and destroyed everyone.

  • @nzwwefan this isn't indie rock it's just plain old rock 'n roll.

  • @imnothere17 Yeah, but these guys are like the leaders of Indie. :)

  • I love Will's high pitched scream he's got going on there haha

  • Truly awesome.. Cannot wait to see them live again

  • HELL YEAHHHH and whoever said the girl drummer sucked is retarded

  • They played month of may to rock the hell out of audience which was filled with nothing but pop artist...

  • Im glad they played month of may not sprawl 2

  • Out of all the songs on The Suburbs, it had to be Month of fucking May. Sprawl II would've been a better choice at the Grammys because of its lyrics.

  • ughhh...whose idea were the bmx kids? amazing performance though

  • And another thing this performance was awesome. And im not saying that cause I love af cause I too would have prefered a different song but this was still awesome

  • Dude I do think other wise neom bible is one of the best albums ever and if you dont like keep the car running something is seriously wrong with you and dont know how you can say af is one kf your favorite bands

  • wow..love this song...Arcade Fire aint bad..they rock fa sure :)

  • the 2nd drummer thats a girl.... she sucks. love arcade fire though

  • I'm saying that just because they are one of my favorite bands doesn't mean I'm gonna go off saying they can't do a thing wrong. This was not a good performance. I don't have to hate Arcade Fire to say that. The song choice was off and the bikes were a bit too much to sell out. Neon Bible was weak for the most part. I went too far by saying I hated it. It took a dark approach and there were plenty of songs that to me just simply didn't belong on there. Anyone who thinks otherwise is simply wrong

  • @billyxc729 em no. thats your opinion and thats fine. But many people loved Neon Bible and who are you to tell them they are wrong?? no one. that's right. Besides if i had to argue this till the end, i'd just slap the critics' opinions in your face. And win.

  • Look out guys billyxc likes real music and hes such a die hard af fan that he says neon bible sucked haha cmon guy you hear what your saying?

  • You dumb pieces of shit I never said arcade fire are the next beatles ready my comment right instead of just getting butt hurt that I mentioned the beatles. And another thing if you thought neon bible sucked then you dont really like arcade fire and you listen to real music? Kick it man I forgot your the coolest fucking guy on earth grow up bro I like all arcade fire albums and ill say it again just for you People will listen to arcade fire in the future like my generation listen to the beatles.

  • best band of the night.

  • 8 fools don't know what real live music sounds like.

  • for all these experts who say they suck live judging by a not very good quality video from grammy's.. . search at youtube... arcade fire at reading festival 2010 and see if they suck lol....

  • @TheBoysenexpirence wow, didn't know good music was based on technical ability. I apologize for ever liking someone as talentless as bob Dylan...because his music is waaay to easily played to be good.

both of those bands are fuckin lame. they play fast cause they can't write a good song, so they have to show off their technical skill because they can't make anything worth listening to without a long ass guitar solo. so keep getting wet of their fast fingers cause obviously that's all you pay

  • BELIEBERS, FUCK OFF!

  • Every band who's played live with David Bowie, Springsteen and U2, raise your hand. Just one?

  • Genius!! they deserved that grammy! <3

  • Not a fan

  • Really did not enjoy that at all.

  • i think this band is great, but when i first heard this song i thought the lead singer's voice sounded like he was deaf...

  • this makes me wanna fuck shit up

  • If you suck live, you're not real music, sorry to break it to you

  • This really is awful, I tried to listen again but it's just noise. It sounds like a broke down cover of "if the house is a rockin don't come a knockin" lmfao

  • I love how everyone says "this is real music" or whatever. They're mediocre at best, hipster-wannabes. Between the Buried and Me, now they play real music.

I would have much rather Katy Perry win, at least her music is catchy, so I can stand to listen to her and she's hot as h.

  • @mrbloodgood Shut the fuck up, at least Arcade Fire can write a cohesive song rather than a directionless 10 minute wank fest. BTBAM are one of the most overrated bands in existence.

  • @andyscoot43 How can BTBAM be overrated when most people have never heard of them? But the true music enthusiasts who have all agree that BTBAM are one of the most talented bands out there...I think I'll side with with them rather than some douche on youtube who has to be rude to try to make a point.

  • @mrbloodgood Learn what overrated is - hint: its got nothing to do with how many people listen to it, but how those people "rate" the band. BTBAM, while skilled at their instruments, can't write a song that means a damn if their career depended on it. And that my friend, is why they're shite. Songwriting skill > instrumental skill, anytime of the day. Besides, there are more talented bands out there, so they fall short in both categories. Oh, and you were "rude" first...

  • @andyscoot43 valid point on the overrated statement. But we're going to have to agree to disagree. Because I think their songwriting skills and instrumental skills are equally great. They also sound amazing live. And I wasn't rude, I didn't call anyone stupid or tell anyone to shut-up. I simply gave my opinion, which I think everyone should be able to do, in a respectful manner.

  • @mrbloodgood You essentially claimed Arcade Fire wasn't real music. That's rude to both the band and their fans. I told you to shut up because quite frankly, you were rousing for a reaction. Just because you have an opinion dosen't mean you have to voice it whenever possible. As for BTBAM - i used to think the same way as you, and the more i listened to them, the more i realised their songs are directionless. You may find that out in a few years, but if not, it's no loss to either of us.

  • @andyscoot43 If you want to take offense to my comment, that's your prerogative. I wasn't looking for a negative reaction. I just wanted to see if people agreed or disagreed with me, which has been somewhat successful. I would hardly call that rude. But I suppose it's all the eyes of the beholder.

And I doubt I will. I've been listening to them since their first release. It's the genre of music that I prefer, I'm not sure if I'll ever outgrow it.

  • @mrbloodgood Between the buried and me are one of the lamest bands ever...might as well listen to dream theatre....arcade fire is an amazing group of musicians....along with katy perry

    haha

  • @svilla323 You're incredibly stupid for even comparing those bands. Dream Theatre and BTB&M can play circles around anyone in mainstream music. Arcade Fire is an indie band and has nothing to do with metal music. And Katy Perry is horrible. Arcade Fire are creative and play easy music, both those metal bands play extremely technical music.

  • @svilla323 I disagree with both statements. But that's ok.

  • @mrbloodgood hipster wannabies > katy perry

  • @416nWild are you saying that the hipster wannabes are greater than Katy Perry or that Katy Perry is a hipster wannabe?

  • @mrbloodgood -_-

.... hipster wannabes are BETTER then Katy Perry.
