@localSickened first of all its a magazine, and one of the most common police pistols is the Glock 22 and its standard capacity for LE is 15 rounds. so it makes sense, thats not really much considering the Glock 17 holds 17 rounds of 9mm and i have a 25 round mag for my Glock .45. and there are 33 round mags available for glock 9mm as well.

They actually had an investigation to see if he was justified? I can understand that all departments may have a policy for investigations for all shootings just to cover all bases. For me however, once the man pointed the gun at the officer/and especially after he fired a round, the officer had every right to take necessary action to take the man down.

i have served the army before and shot many different types of weapons be it live rounds or blank,and from my experience?i think you'd better go google it.

1. A round could get "stovepiped" upon exiting the rifle, getting stuck in the bolt

2. A double feed, where 2 rounds try to go in the chamber at once, jamming it.

3. Bad primer on the cartridge, etc, causing the round to fail.

All guns have a serial number and the police know who owns each gun and what location. All gun licences or gun sales go through the police system and need to be approved.

Looks to me like the suspect had a revolver looked like a 357 or 44 mag from the sound of it, and looked like he had one chamber empty so had had to squeez the trigger twice for it to fall on the live round. That is what saved the cops life.
