  • Is the story from Jules Verne ?

  • @MrCoaster97 No, Ian Cameron (Donald Payne's pen name).

  • free willy lolz 1:17

  • 1:13 no thats shamo

  • I rate this one about the same as "The Land that Time Forgot"-cheesey but fun.

  • I loved this movie when I was a kid!

  • I just recently got the DVD, one of my favorite movies.

  • Hard to believe the Oscar for "Visual Effects" in '74 was just handed to Albert Whitlock's (deservedly superb) "Earthquake". This charmer should have at least been nominated!

  • I loved this movie

  • I love stories which are set in the Victorian Era :) For me, it is a period full of mysteries, adventures, conquests and discoveries!

  • Why is it that every time you find a lost civilization, the reception you get from the natives is usually along the lines of the one depicted here, "DEATH TO THE INVADERS!"

It makes you wonder if finding lost civilizations is really worth the effort when thats the thanks you get.

    Bloody Vikings.

  • I saw this movie in 1975 when I was 9 years old...I have thought about it often. I am so glad to see this here...thank you!!!

  • the special effects are impressive

  • Oddly, the book upon which this film is based, "The Lost Ones" was set in 1960 and had no airship - when the Edwardian setting and that fantastic craft, the Hyperion, are what make this film. I loved zeppelins (and still do) for years to come after this. Needless to day when "The Hindenburg" came out the following year I was over the moon!

This film was one of the last to show that Disney was still at the top of the world of visual effects...the glory days before the motion control camera...

  • autostade67 agreed

  • I, too, saw this as a boy in early 1975 and loved it. I read recently that it was a colossal bomb on first release & hobbled Disney financially somewhat. True, it was still in the tradition of "In Search of the Castaways" albeit without any children, which I as a child found incredibly "grown up" and "serious", but when you consider that "The Land that Time Forgot" was a sleeper hit a mere 6 months later, it's hard to account for this film's lack of popularity.

  • I first saw this movie as a young kid while on holiday in London in about 1974, I can recall adverts along the escalators in the London Underground, we lived in South Africa at the time, and I have often wondered about the movie and what it was called since, then a few days ago I stumbled upon it in a second hand / charity shop while out from Australia visiting my folks in England. It's was just as exciting viewing it 35 years later and I can't wait to show my own 4 children.

  • Was this the only movie that David Hartman made????? When I saw this as a kid I thought, isn't he the guy on "Good Morning America"? How the hell did he get this part? I have never seen him in anything else again, not even made tv movies. Remember when they had "The TV Movie Of The Week"???? What a hoot.

  • In Search of the Castaways

  • is this movie here in youtube?

    I really loved the music

it was from maurice jarre I think

  • Ahh the good things!!

  • That was back when Disney was still magical, unlike the abomination it is today.

  • @TheDemonPazuzu Finding Nemo was good

  • There is a scene like you describe in the movie Arabian Nights....

  • This could be made into a South Park Episode.

  • This is a pretty good Disney adventure movie from the mid 70s.

And it has Tom Hartman who was on Good Morning America BEFORE Charlie Gibson...

    that's a little weird...

  • It's David Hartman, actually.

  • Indeed! Thanks.

Yeah, really fun adventure movie for kids.

I had the view-master reel of this!

View-Master!! What a nice toy that was!!

  • Yeah, or some large bird and the guy shoots him in the neck coz then it glides down.. Can't believe I finally found this movie, forgot what it was called. Haven't seen it in 20 years.

Wasn't there something about a map made of bone?

  • I remember seeing it when I was a kid but I only remember the blimp. Thanks for posting it.

  • GAYLORD

  • I had the record when I was a kid...loved it...the music was great, and the Viking Shaman was pretty scary "kieldem KIELDEM"... the French Captain was awsome "de arctic de ARCTIC!"... ahh Umeyak "they come...we go!". Great stuff.

  • Watched it last night. Great movie! Just as good as I remembered.

  • never heard of this movie until today, looks good!

  • Thanks for uploading that trailer! I watched the movie a hundret times when I was a kid... classic! :)

  • Those CG graphics blow me away!

  • Awesome! Thanks for posting this. I loved this movie. I'll have to check if it's available on DVD.
