He did a great job. This is not an easy song. Anyone who aspires to nail this song aspires! And he is good. He did say it was his "version" meaning he may have imposed lyrics that meant something to him. You keep on!
Very nice! I'd love to get the sheet music to this song if you could tell me where you got it. Also, you were a bit strong on the piano and a bit light on the singing, so you couldn't really tell what you were saying. Also, I've never heard the last two verses before- I like them, very much, but who wrote them?
Leonard Cohen made the original version, with his deeep voice and in speed and emotion as it is sung here, like a psalm maybe. Later he made another text. That one was then changed into the versions with stronger emotions, especially Jeff Buckley but also Jeff Wainwright, John Cale and whoever else covered it.
For the new lyrics look for Hallelujah_(song)in the english wikipedia. The old ones: search for "I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you"
Hey. Did you use chords online for this??I've been trying to learn it on the piano. I just love it. Its really simple on the guitar. Please, any websites would be greatly appresiated! :-) Awesome job by the way.
i also (last thing, promise...these comments are so SHORT!) noticed that generally you tend to play very loud, almost aggressively, which kind of doesn't fit well with the words. perhaps try listening to some other piano arrangements and you will see what i mean. anyway, just a couple suggestions. keep up the good work.
i also think that you're at the point where you definitely need to utilise dynamics and phrase shaping. take apart the melody and figure out where the height of the phrases are and where the climax of the song is and work towards there. figure out which sections of the song should be played softer to contrast the climax and draw the listener in, because if it all sounds the same they will begin to get bored.
not bad..i think that you could definitely enunciate your words more clearly. as for the piano, i realise that you've only been playing for a few months but here's some constructive criticism:
i think that you need to work on your tone. at times, your left hand becomes very loud and bangy over a softer, sweeter right hand and vice versa. try to imagine crossing your hands over when the melody goes into the left hand and matching the tone by tapping the keys instead of hitting them.
amazing <3

Yeah, those are some of the ones that not many people sing. They are correct, there is just lots of verses. I know 7!

Your voice is beautiful.
It has kind of a tom waits flavour, except not with the 'I just ate a box of nails" harshness, a lot nicer.

I wish I could play the piano at least as good as you can.
With you playing and me singing, we could make a decent recording of this beautiful song.
Maybe with a choir, too.
Good stuff, sinophysiker!
