  • SO does this thing have #1 & #6 chopped? making 2 into 1 and 5 into 4? Whats the firing order??? It seems to run smooth and sounds like a normal 1-3-4-2 with center pistons on the same plane...

  • Fantastic!!!!

  • this engine is the block of a CIH 2.4 litre omega and the shortend cilinder head from a C30se (senator) both chain drive cam engines witch is why this is a popular alternative to the "400" engine

  • why is this cih?

    i dont think so....

    if it is.......... then a bmw e30. 2.3l 4cyl 16v is also a cih.

    goosssh u guys are dumb

  • @patie132 cih means Cam In Head

  • @pupleon

    i already know that.....

    why isnt it a Dohc?

    example: a saab 9000 is a dohc ...

it has the same technique but has a diffirent chain drive system.

  • @patie132 back then when opel first brought out the cih, most other manufactures where still putting the cam in the side of the block, ths was revolutionary for the time and i guess everyone always associates cam in head with opel only tho all cars to day are cam in head and also double over head valve, which is where the difference is, the cih has the cam next to the valves not OVER the valves which is what doch is

  • @pupleon

    ok only 1 problem here.

the cam is over the valve.......

  • @patie132 in this engine yes, but only because the cylinder head has being changed for a dohc, all the opel cih engines, the original ones had the cam shaft run next to the valves with fingers sat between the top of the cam and the top of the valves, there was a pedistal through the middle of the finger with an adjuster nut on. i re read your firat post and aggree with what you say, this particular engine is no longer cih because the head has being replaced with a dohc head,

  • @pupleon

    thank you!

i was trying to make that point :p

  • @patie132 once i re-read all the comments, it dropped into place

  • @pupleon Why they dont leave with 6 cilinders?it would kill evryone,.)

  • watt engine ??

  • YES lets take a 6 cilinder engine and cut 2 off.. GAY

  • @IngmarxEsmee They haven't done that. They only bolted the shortened cylinder head from a 6-cyl on a 4-cyl (i guess it's a hill climb car).

  • @71CommodoreGSE

In that case, they did a nice job, but i guess that makes the engine a 2.4 then?

  • @IngmarxEsmee yep, it does :)

  • @IngmarxEsmee Are you a homofob, ore just stupid? I guess you don't undersand car handeling thoug....

  • wer is so doof und bautn 6 zylinder reihenmotor auseinander..-.-

  • i can feel the power... opel wir leben auto

  • risse baut die motorén NIchT selbst.die haebn keinen bearbeitungsmaschienepark.die können nicht mal schwungräder selbst bearbeiten.das macht alles ein reiner rennmotorenbertieb für risse :)

  • very nice!!! in Brazil we call this car the chevrolet chevette. we like to use the CX20 engine in him because his original engine is a shit. what engine is this?

  • very nice!!! in Brazil we call this car the chevrolet chevette. we like to use the CX20 engine in him because his original engine is a shit. what engine is this?

  • it would be interesting to see how this shortening of the head was achieved ,sucsessfully

  • cool engine

  • throttle response like a gsxr!!! very nice car!!! very very nice!!!

  • This is unreal. What pistons do you use then for the extra valves? Any idea where you can buy the cams etc.

  • Excuse my ignorance but... what motor is this? What car does it originate from? What's the engine code? I live in the United States and we never got the Beautiful Opel Kadett over here :o(

  • But you got the (old) Opel GT! In the Car build form 1968 till 1973 was a 4cyl 8valves 1.9 litre CIH (Camshaft in Head) engine. Its the same engine you see in the above video... well, sort of. The cylinder head in the video is a shortened 6cyl 24valves CIH head from an Opel Senator or Omega fitted with custom cams. These cars were unfortunately not exported to the US.

  • why do this? Surely the Cosworth developed 16v XE engine would be cheaper and its a great engine

  • You're right, the 20XE would be a nice choice for the light-weight kadett C.

But AFAIK has the 20XE a different bellhouse pattern. So you need a new gearbox for the 20XE. I think the 1.3 and 1.8 OHC boxes of the Manta/Ascona/Cavalier could be a good fit.

Maybe you can also use the gearbox of some 16V Omega/Carlton but i'm not sure. Another good point for the CIH method is, that you can easily get a 16V 2.4 liter. :P Yummy!

  • No, the CIH with shortened C30SE Block as in a different league than the C20XE ;-)

The CIH can be bored up till 2.7L without problems and the C30SE Head is bigger and makes a better cylinder filling. Don't try to bore up an C20XE..it won't last long. Naturally aspirated the a CIh with shortened C30SE head is capable of much more Power than a C20XE, its very like the A400 Engine from Opel.

  • The Block is a standard Opel CIH, there are many outside, from 1.9L to 2.4L there are many codes like: 19N, 19S, 20S, 20E, C24NE for that Block. The had is a shortened C30SE Head. Simmply cut it apart between cylinder 4 and 5.

The distance between the cylinders match perfectly so do the oil and water channels. Such a engine is capable of more than 300HP with natural aspiration.

  • @88manta88 the oil and water channels do not fit and the 290bhp version, which is the absolut maximum is 30.000€

  • @da7nesman

Seems to be a RISSE race engine. Sweet things, but a little pricey. They range from 8k to 30k EUR, taxes included, shipping extra. The upper end of 4 cylinder motors in their shop lists an engine with 319 HP for 24,5k EUR

  • @da7nesman

hi, i think its a enginge with 4 cylinders, 2400ccm or more and a "head" (sorry im german, here it´s called "zylinderkopf") from a 6 cylinder 3000ccm engine that is cutted for 4 cylinders.

opel never sold engine´s like this

absolutly nice engine, i dream about to have it in my manta

  • @da7nesman Opel/vauxhall omega a/senator b 30 litre 24v(c30se)

  • @da7nesman In short Its an rebuilt CIH (8valve) to a 16Valve. They do this by shortening the c30se head from Omega 3000.

  • @da7nesman

its a cih blok like them you have in opel gt and manta ,these cars you have in usa! you can get a 2,4 ltr set org. from opel and you can get 2,8 ltr. set with costum kits, the head is from a 6 cyl. opel omega 3,0 24v straight 6 engine witch blok is simular to the old cih engine that was used back in 1966 or somthing like that, but you can simply cut off the 2 back cyl. headparts off the top, and among others risse motorsport deliver cams, exhaust manifold, inletmanifolds ++

  • @da7nesman It´s probably from the Opel Omega 3000 :)

  • @da7nesman Originally it was a C30SE, from an Opel Omega A 3000 24v or Senator B 3000 24V, but in this case, it's a shortened version (2 cylinders were shaved), to make this block capable to reach 2.4 liters displacement vs the 2.1-2.2 maximum of the regular 4 cylinder engine C20XE. There are versions of this powerplant with 320 bhp, even more. You can see more info at risse-motorsport.de.

  • Its a 6cyl head that has been shaved off 2 cylinders and is mounted on a cih 2.4 4cyl block from a omega A

    The motorcode is C24NE

  • @da7nesman Yes you got it. the opel kadett is a rebadge of the isuzu gemini coupe. It's also a holden gemini in australia and a Buick Opel in the united states. There was a grey one for sale on ebay not long ago.

Keep in mind they don't come out the factory with wide arches, and only the Opel kadett got the opel engines

  • @da7nesman the motor is based on the Opel CIH 4 and 6 Cyl engines, in the USA the Opel GT's, Manta's and kadett's from 1969 to 1975 had the 4 Cyl version. In the early 80's they had a DOHC version was made. The 6 Cyl CIH motor evolved into a dohc 6 Cyl. The DOHC 4 Cyl was so powerful and popular they started making 4 Cyl DOHC CIH 4 Cyl out of the 6 Cyl motors (yeah they cut the last 2 Cyl off the head and or the last 2 Cyl of the hole 6cyl) HTH

  • @da7nesman It's a Opel 2400cc - in-line 4 cyl. motorblock (C24NE, Frontera A/Omega A) whit a cyl.head from a 3000cc - in-line 6 cyl. (C30SE, C30SEJ, C30XEI, ..., Omega A/Senator B) shortened to a 4 cyl. cyl.head, 300hp+!!!

    It's a replacement engine for the well-known 2.4l 16v "A400" motor (24E, Ascona/Manta 400) that hat succes in gr.4 and gr.B rally back in the 1980's!!! ;-)

  • that is a f*cking animal!

    Opel C Kadett rulez!

  • I like the custom made throttles with perforated plate instead of butterfly valves. Makes sense in that there will be no flow restriction at WOT, but I wonder how the TPS has been hooked up?

  • thats called a 'slide throttle' and is great at WOT but gives poor drivability so really only good for race cars

  • Clarification. Its only the cylinder head that is shortened ;)

  • Opel Rulezzzzzzz!!!

  • I agree with you dude!

    Opel 4 life!

  • How come there is no air filter?

Because the engine need no filter lol

  • Hab ich ihn ja doch noch gefunden :-)

Jetzt bitte noch einmal Volllast für meine Opel Pornosammlung !!

  • How come there is no air filter? cool sound tho

  • Nice sound Nobbi :-)
