This really is my favorite episode. The flute music is haunting and beautiful. The episode really shows Picards character. I love the way that he holds on to the "life" he had on Kataan and blends that with his real life.
This was the only Star Trek episode to bring tears to my eyes! "Lessons" recaptured this song, and brought some, but nowhere near as strongly as this story did. A whole lifetime, in 25 minutes? Wow!
yes,a great deal of picards soul and who he became in a whole other lifetime is tied up in that tune. epic, really.i just learned this on my andean pan flute, and its beautiful on any flute or pan flute.its not that complex.try it.
why do episodes like this overlooked when it comes to top 10 topics, this IS the most powerful ep in tng history, thanks for the upload, a great end to a great episode...
One of the best Star Trek scenes ever, for me at least. The very end, with the soft notes playing amongst the enormity of space, made me tear up the first time I saw it.
So heartbreakingly beautiful. The flute melody is wonderful and I have always loved it, from the first moment I heard it. Certainly one of the absolute best moments in all of TNG.
This show is so under rated it's criminal. This is the stuff that deserves Emmy's this and DS9 not mainstream crap like CSI.

One of the best episodes in tv drama history. Definitely in the top 5 of the series. This show should've won best drama for all awards this year.

Even after I've seen this scene like five times, it's still heart-wrenching.

This is the best TNG episode, and as you say, the best scene of the episode. Such a lovely song that is not easily forgotten.

love TNG so much...
ain't it a bit ironic that the best scene in a science fiction series is a man playing the flute? :)

Picard gains 8 points of wisdom and 12 points of flute skill.

This is, truly, the best moment of the best episode ever written, in all of Star Trek.
