i was just reading about possum holler in georges book i live to tell it all.if your a jones fan you have to read the book. thank you for posting this video
Left Phila. Pa. to Nashville in 75, stopped at Boots Randolf at printers alley, then on to POSSUM HOLLER that had the best band and met Don Young there, he did a few Jones songs for us
This video was made at THE Possum Holler in printers alley in Nashville,TN, I know because I spent weekends there with my dad, Gary Boggs and 6 guys who I consider my uncles , great memories
ok the named changed but the building is the same building in printers alley. let's do a google check e.g. was the western room possum hollar at one time?
George, or his business, had Possum Hollers in several other states that I know of. I was in a band that played the grand opening of one in York, SC, back around this same time period, opening for George. We also played another one in Harrisburg IL, if I remember right.
thank you so much for this video. this is about the time i met george and the band in texas. i hate that we didn't see ralph but so thrilled to see zack, ernie, clyde and gary. memories.....i did not know that gary passed away...so sorry to hear that, he was a very sweet and talented man.
The song is "I Just don't Give a Damn". It's a song George himself wrote about Tammy, just after they divorced. I wish someone could correct the speed of the music. It really is a great video, there isn't many recordings of Nashville's famous Possum Holler out there.
I really enjoyed this one. It is the first time I have seen George sing this song. His Daughter now sings it all the time, Georgette. I treasure any posting on The possum. Thanks. I added it to my favs too.
thanks for unearthing this! i had never seen George sing this particular song on TV and the crowd reaction was just as I thought it would be, clapping and cheering during the song's title. a wonderful song, though under-rated.
