I don't think Animated had much of anything to do with G1, I believe they were just giving props to it first episode and were just saying Cybertron had survived a great civil war with the Autobots as the victors. That's what I got from that segment in the first episode - giving props to the series that started it all

It's was the closest thing to a properly done G1 series as we'll ever get, BW was an excellent sequel to G1, but it wasn't G1, but it didn't need to be it was that great. :)

As far as I am aware, they are not making a TFA Hot Shot toy. Pity. Apparently his design was meant to incoporate parts from the previous three designs. Both he and Red Alert were actually supposed to be in the main cast, but since BB and Ratchet were in the movie, they lost out.
