  • Muy interesante y práctico sobre todo.

  • Las cebollas son blancas, podría ser tambíen, pero no lo sé se tenes que colocar en singular o plural. (Creo que sea en singular)

Tumasu, i not agree with you, it's important the childrens study another language than english. We can see spanish all the time, but i believe that some parties these childrens study in english too.

  • The description says "Spanish-English bilingual class" yet there was not one English word used. All the lessons were being taught in Spanish. Those little children could learn English very quickly (in less than a year), but it will take them longer because the teacher is just reinforcing the use of Spanish. They already speak Spanish at home. This is why in Arizona all lessons are taught in English. Bilingual education has been proven (with low test scores) over the years not to work.

  • @Timasu Research has proven that when native spanish speakers build academic skills in their native tongue those skills transfer easily to english language learning and comprehension.

    Do some research.

  • @CuteChildishTRex Research hasn't proven it. Show me the studies. How can it transfer to English when they are barely being taught English, and they're primarily speaking Spanish at home? Students in Arizona outperform their peers in states which have bilingual education. The best way to learn a language is to be immersed in the language. Being bilingual is great, but the best way to learn a new language is by immersion. Even our Latino parents ask that their child only speak English at school.

  • @Timasu Schools base their programs on these studies. Stephen Krashen,

What you saw was only a small glimpse of the bilingual classroom. Depending on the program, instruction is switched from English to Spanish and so on. For example, in a Dual-Language classroom, Spanish is used Monday, Wednesday and Friday and English on Tuesday and Thursdays with Mathematics in English. Incidentally, the choice for their children to be in these classrooms is up to the parents.

  • @Timasu Look at the research of Stephen Krashen and Cummins. To assure cognitive and academic success in a second language, a student's first language system, oral and written, must be developed to a high cognitive level at least through the elementary-school years.

I've had training in this and currently substitute for Bilingual classrooms. Bilingual Education really is a beneficial process.

    In my opinion.

    =)

  • @CuteChildishTRex Thank you for your opinion and the research you've mentioned. I am a teacher, and the majority of my students are Hispanic. In Arizona instruction for ELL students is not allowed in their native language. We have found that when students are immersed in the English language they become proficient in about a year. When we had bilingual classes, after many years students still struggled with the English language. All teachers must take 60 hours of extra coursework to prepare.
