Damn this song takes me way back. Priceless part of my youth and I WILL NEVER EVER FORGET IT. Great job guys on helping me with remembering precious memories in my life.
This predates grunge and technically is the true "alternative music" after '93 this style merged with grunge to form mainstream rock most people confuse with "alternative music". Your comment and misunderstanding really dates you. How old were you at the time of this music? 10?
I saw these guys open up for Izzy Stradlin and the JuJu Hounds in Atlanta in 1993. I was freshly divorced and it was my first date with a slut after wasting 4 years on a bitch...priceless memory
This song encapsulates so much desperation so effectively.
And I just buried a damn good man, way before his time. I wanted to shake him, to scream "wake the fuck up! You've got two kids! Your wife, your comrades, we fucking need you!" like it would restart his failed heart.

I'm at a party and there's a worst song ever contest going on. And some guy put on "Safety Dance" and I was like fuck that, this song is way worse. What shit. Just embarassing
I remember hearing this on the radio (91X in San Diego) when it came out and thinking it was one of the funniest songs I'd ever heard. I can't believe how well it holds up...still sounds great. And bluesier guitar than I remember. Good stuff...gonna go see them at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano in December.
I saw the DaDa's open for the Toadies at the Abyss (I think) in VA Beach in 95 or 96, they put on a great live show. Unfortunately that was the only time I saw them perform. 105.7 the Point in St. Louis plays them every now and then.
I love this song....I used to work at Disneyland, and it was my escaping place so to speak and this song seems like it's talking about Disneyland as an escape.
Also I love the line..."I just flipped off President George, I'm going to Disneyland."
Without a doubt, one of the best bands ever, and possibly the most awesome/underrated 90's band ever! I have their first four albums...somewhere around my house =/.
I also saw this band open for Sting back in 92 or 93. Incredible show. Great album. someone stole it from my suitcase on a flight to Florida years ago. Guess I dont blame them now. I need to go to diznee land
If this was written today about the current Bush, they'd stick cameras on their houses! Plus Coulter/Limbaugh and crew would say they Hate America lol
This is one of the most under-rated and most unheard of bands probably in the entire 90's. Ive owned this album for 15 years, and it is the only album ever that I could say that I heard AND enjoyed every song on the album. Im 21 btw ;). Here today Gone Tomorrow, Posters, and Dog are all good songs off this album for those of you who are interested in other songs from this band.
I saw this group warm up for Sting and they were amazing. The Album that Dizz Knee is on is also terrific. Never could figure out why this group wasn't famous!!
My god, just because it was from the early 90's doesn't mean it's grunge. Mudhoney, Soundgarden, Melvins, Helium, Green River Early Pearl Jam, THAT is grunge.
It really does have Merle Haggard (in the beginning) "mama tried" and U2 flavor( background guitar excitement)...definitely not what I would call grunge. I agree. I wonder what they say their influences are? Take care folks! Thank you, kwayne989, for sharing:0)

And yeah,
I'm thinking of robbing a grocery store.
Fuck I make $0 money, I eat garbage to keep from starving, I work a hard job and I'm always hurt and exhausted.
But what if things go wrong?
I don't want to be a killer, I don't want to be the "failed armed robber" family disgrace.
I don't want to scare the kids in the store, and there's always children in a grocery store.
I love my freedom, I love that no one's hunting me down, but what's freedom when it's constantly tainted by fear and pain?

yeah unfotunatly it was the sr. george and not jr. george but it works in both repects
and honestly i think they are making fun of disney land not praising
god knows that disney rules the world

In a way they are making fun of Disney, but it seems like the song could apply either way.

Dark and dangerous lyrics, beautiful harmonies, and a cheerful tune combine to make a powerful statement.
Is it fair to say that we play the old hymn 'When I survey the wondrous cross' with a very similar intro at church?
