Olberman is a pseudo-liberal. Modern "liberals" have a strong tendency to be epistemological skeptics (almost to the point of solipsism). Since for them, little can be known with certainty, they feel free to assert freely from their imaginations, believing any single random assertion is likely to be as "true" as any other. They, in effect, lie continually and without conscience. Some, like "pencil dick" Olberman, are expert attack guppies.
I'm sorry but this is not an english class. That is the name of his segment of the show. This is the way Olbermann says it. So listen to the video and don't give me anymore english lessons.
'persons' is proper when used to describe a distinct number of indivuduals within a group. However, the term is uncommmon by today's standards and thus is not taught in many English programs.
English is forever changing with terms falling in and out of use every decade. A degree in English isn't supposed to teach you everything about English grammar but it is supposed to give you the tools to research an answer before speaking on a topic; especially if you are unsure.
You know that is the great thing about America...any fucktard can grow up to be a media pundit: Keith Olbermann, easily this years worst person in THE WUURRRRRRLLDDDDD!
Bastards like Keith Olbermann are the reason why we have the right to bear arms.....and why abortion is legal.
I heard the sun produces enough energy in one hour to power the whole world for a year....why aren't we tapping .....oh yeah it's free....No profit index for the RICH
Wow Keith knows nothing about the history of the Constitution. The Founders intended the word "militia" to mean the people of which the Federal government governs. It was the right of the people in society to serve as the ultimate "check" on federal activity. If the Federal government became too barbaric in their ways, and wiped out the freedoms that the people are guaranteed, the "militia", or the "people" had guns to protect themselves.
Again, how are the people supposed to do this when they have shotguns and the government has tanks.
This idea ONLY works in modern times when the military is behind the people (as it was in Romania in '89), but will never work when the military is behind the government (example Hungary '53).
Your last line about silly Keith is just stupid. At least we have someone out there who argues the other side.
LOLOL the twice fired (at both ESPN AND FOX Sports), failed sportscaster is calling Bill O'Reilly, the man with two Masters degrees (one in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government) a simpleton...HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Keith is good for one thing, and that is making me laugh my ass off with his constant inferiority complex to O'Reilly and everything FOX. Hey, it's okay Keith, we can't all be #1!!
Olbermann's doing pretty good these days, makes a seven figure salary. How's your job at Wendy's?
You laugh at him, he laughs all the way to the bank.
What's really laughable is that O'Reilly has all of that education and still makes a bumbling idiot out of himself. He can't keep history straight, lies about awards he never received, lies about serving as a reporter in combat, lies about his sexual harassment suit, and gets owned by guests (even teenagers) on his show. He's mental.
The second amendment is pretty simple, actually. Due to the existance of the military, and the danger of a tyranical individual taking control of the government and that "state Militia," the people must be armed in the event that it becomes necessary to overthrow a corrupted US government. Of course, we are nowhere NEAR such a scenario now, but in the future, it may come to that. So, in a rather interesting twist, Keith is EXTRAORDINARILY wrong on the purpose of the 2nd Amendment.
That's the opinion of the Ku Klux Klan and the Nazi Party, and moreover, is entirely specious. A "Militia", in the eighteenth century sense of the word, was a federation of state-charted groups like semi-private National Guard units.
That would work when the U.S. Government only had muskets and cannon, instead of what they have now - cruise missiles, fighters, aircraft carriers, and nuclear subs.
So how's a citizenry armed with pistols and semi-autos supposed to compete with that? If our military turned against us we're screwed.
I forgot that the U.S. Government also has tanks, body armor, night vision, cluster bombs, napalm, etc. etc. What are you NRA guys packing to compete with this?
Good point....I just heard 50% of shootings are Suicide....which actually may help reduce the surplus population....since birth control doesn't seem to be in use anymore!!!!
Holy Crap, that's my limit. Olbyschmuck is a CONSTITUTIONAL expert now?!?!? So Olbyschmuck, a halfwit who couldn't debate an eighth grader if his life depended on it, has the balls to call out the brilliant Scalia on constitutional rights? Olbermann you are a genius really. How GE pays you for your non-engaging waste of 60 minutes is incredible. Grow a pair loser and debate someone from the NRA or John Lott, Jr. if your such an expert on the Bill of Rights? Let's see what your made of, genius.
Antonin Scalia is with the majority on the stupidest Supreme Court since the Taney Court. The NRA routinely leaves out the first two clauses of the Second Amendment in most of their printed matter. The thirty thousand gun deaths a year aren't a constitutional debate, any more than the forty thousand automobile deaths are. When you say that no one is entitled to their opinions as citizens, you are wrong. On that basis, Scalia's opinions have no more validity than Olbermann's, and no less.
Sorry pal, I never said Olby isn't entitled to his opinion. If he feels so strongly about an issue: debate it on his show. Let's see his opnion translate into action, instead of just mouthing off, calling people names and going back to his condo. I give you credit, you've got more guts than Olby to debate. Why doesn't Olby? Scalia's opinions do matter because (news flash) he's on the Supreme Court. Thank God he's there to defend our Bill of Rights. Gun deaths, auto deaths analogy? Huh?
Cars and guns are artifacts of technology that are used to kill people deliberately or kill people accidentally. The primary function of a gun is to kill, but the primary function of a car is to move people around.
Olbermann rarely calls newsmakers names (unlike you). They usually hang themselves with their own statements.
Why doesn't Olbermann debate? Why do you care? Bill Oralsodamy, Rush Douchebaugh and the rest don't debate anyone. They're opinion/agitprop shows.
Cars/guns? Sorry don't get it. Anywho, What's Olbermann's "Worst Person In the World" segment but name calling every night?!?! Please don't be silly. Call the other guys all the names you want. Still doesn't hide the fact that Olberschmuck never debates anyone. Watch him for a week straight, you'll know it's true.
And what does Rush do but bash people his entire three hours every day without debate? If anyone disagrees he just does what O'Reilly does - turns off the mike and slams them. Your point is pointless.
By the way, Olbermann has put himself on the Worst Person list - four times. He does it when he makes a mistake - he calls himself on it and publicly apologizes. You'd never see Orally or Limpbaugh do that, they're just whiney little boys.
Nice try but I've heard more liberals on Rush's show, rare no doubt, but a few over the years. About O'Reilly, there's no contest he has more guests with different opinions. Ooh, Olby is so daring and cutting edge for putting himself on his own list. Olbyschmuck is an intellectual coward who never challenges anyone, interviews the same three people everynight, calls people names and shows monkeys on tricycles. Not to mention a plagiarist: he can't even come up with his own sign off line.
We all know where he gets his sign-off line from. He's said so often enough.
O'Reilly gets opposing guests, so he can yell at them, put words in their mouths, cuts off their mics, and threatens them. He is a miserable excuse for a human being, but there are a few clips of him in moderated settings. He sits and stews because he can't cut the other speakers off.
We accept a certain number of statistical "impersonal" deaths as part of living in our society. I'm aware of that. Therefore, the hypocrisy of "the war on terror" is obvious to me.
What the guy down there says - these are not debate shows.
Calling someone public figure "The Worst Person" (hyperbole, yes), and then, saying why is not name-calling. Calling someone a schmuck is.
"He is a miserable excuse for a human being" No name calling please. I'm just busting. All right, all right, Scyllax, you're all right in my book, have a nice summer peace out.
No.. not really and nor am I... but seeing as the decision again was split 5 to 4 (as many controversial decisions have been), this has much more to do with one's views on guns than with any judicial interpretation of the 2nd amendment.
And reading what two of the dissenting judges wrote, I happen to agree with them, but I admit freely.. that's because I don't like guns in the hands of citizens.
Glad you feel that way; when I am finished building my nuclear bomb I know you will be the first to defend my right to keep it as it is just an object.
Exactly, I had just had that conversation this morning, but on the the topic of what the government owns we should be able to own.
Btw GL on enriching it would take several truckloads full of the stuff in the abandoned mines in NM hell for the most part they mined the stuff and left it in the open, I love floating yellow cake.

Get in the real world.
psatm 3 years ago
In the real world, guns in private hands are generally used to settle quarrels, and mistakenly or accidentally shoot people.
Most of the gunshot wounds treated in the US every year are these. They are not persons defending themselves from criminals.
