'persons' is proper when used to describe a distinct number of indivuduals within a group. However, the term is uncommmon by today's standards and thus is not taught in many English programs.

English is forever changing with terms falling in and out of use every decade. A degree in English isn't supposed to teach you everything about English grammar but it is supposed to give you the tools to research an answer before speaking on a topic; especially if you are unsure.

Wow Keith knows nothing about the history of the Constitution. The Founders intended the word "militia" to mean the people of which the Federal government governs. It was the right of the people in society to serve as the ultimate "check" on federal activity. If the Federal government became too barbaric in their ways, and wiped out the freedoms that the people are guaranteed, the "militia", or the "people" had guns to protect themselves.

The second amendment is pretty simple, actually. Due to the existance of the military, and the danger of a tyranical individual taking control of the government and that "state Militia," the people must be armed in the event that it becomes necessary to overthrow a corrupted US government. Of course, we are nowhere NEAR such a scenario now, but in the future, it may come to that. So, in a rather interesting twist, Keith is EXTRAORDINARILY wrong on the purpose of the 2nd Amendment.

Most of the gunshot wounds treated in the US every year are these. They are not persons defending themselves from criminals.

Antonin Scalia is with the majority on the stupidest Supreme Court since the Taney Court. The NRA routinely leaves out the first two clauses of the Second Amendment in most of their printed matter. The thirty thousand gun deaths a year aren't a constitutional debate, any more than the forty thousand automobile deaths are. When you say that no one is entitled to their opinions as citizens, you are wrong. On that basis, Scalia's opinions have no more validity than Olbermann's, and no less.

Cars and guns are artifacts of technology that are used to kill people deliberately or kill people accidentally. The primary function of a gun is to kill, but the primary function of a car is to move people around.

Olbermann rarely calls newsmakers names (unlike you). They usually hang themselves with their own statements.

Why doesn't Olbermann debate? Why do you care? Bill Oralsodamy, Rush Douchebaugh and the rest don't debate anyone. They're opinion/agitprop shows.

Nice try but I've heard more liberals on Rush's show, rare no doubt, but a few over the years. About O'Reilly, there's no contest he has more guests with different opinions. No.. not really and nor am I... but seeing as the decision again was split 5 to 4 (as many controversial decisions have been), this has much more to do with one's views on guns than with any judicial interpretation of the 2nd amendment.

And reading what two of the dissenting judges wrote, I happen to agree with them, but I admit freely.. that's because I don't like guns in the hands of citizens.
