You can buy a bulgarian AK74 for $400 and get 1080 rounds of ammo delivered to your door for $170. There's no reason to invest more money on a rifle than the value of the rifle when the same money can be used to buy an immensely superior product. SKS is a junk rifle. I bought my first SKS in 92 for $65. I rest my case.

By "crummy" i mean a rommy is the least well manufactured of any of the ak's i have, but it's still a decent weapon. Better than an sks at any rate. The worst ak is better than the best sks.
Is the front sight not removable on the Yugo? The gun from the other videos has just the barrel out the front end. I'm just wondering what model SKS to get for this stock. Also, how was this one made compliant with the bayonet still on?

@federalhawk, it has a shell deflector that is spring loaded so if you want to use stripper clips you just push the release latch, and the shell deflector pops out of the way

This is a great and reliable weapon, and way better for CQB with this kit. Too bad the 7.62*39 lacks long-range accuracy. It packs quite the whallop though!
@300winmagmaster I was informed that most 5.56 weapons have superior shot grouping in comparison to rifles chambered for the 7.62*39 round. So I would say, Tar-21, MK. 16, you know, the works.

I must say.. that is by FAR the best design for an SKS I have ever seen & if more people understood the differences between a short stroke piston & a long stroke piston.. they would throw away their AK's & buy this bullpup. love the low hight rail... i dislike bulpups in general for various reasons, even if they are intriguein from an engineering stand point, but what i really hate is that basically all of them have far to high sitting carry handle/ rails/sights

I like bullpups but this is clearly a right handed only firearm. I would love to see some accuracy vids of this too.
I dont like the charging handle location; should be moved to the left front of the firearm IMHO. Another problem I see is that if a round blows up in the chamber it could go right up into the shooters face.

@DaytonaRoadster Actually its not a problem with all bullpups - take for instance the kel tec RFB. All the RFBs controls are fully ambidextrous including the reciprocating operating handle can be switched to the left or right side. Another cool feature is the forward shell ejection.
I think when companies see that catering to right and left handed shooters will bring in more $, we will see a change in more bullpups as we do with the RFB.

seems like a cool concept, only problem is the conversion has taken a rifle known for its "i wont jam no matter what you do to me" qualities and has made it jam a few times just in this recording. it may not be the cheapest way, but the best "modernizing" method may be to use the cash one gets from selling their SKS toward something more modern like a robinson XCR, AR variant, etc.
@frmphxaz84 lmao, what are you talking about? The reason it jams is the junk 30 round magazine that was in it. 30 round mags for the SKS are notorious for feeding issues. Watch the vid again, if you think the stock has anything to do with that malfunction I pray you never become a gunsmith.
i like it, and am quiet interested. My only concer is brass ejection, SKS tend to fling brass up, do you have a brass delfector to keep the casings from hitting the shooter in the face?
@DaytonaRoadster yeah, there's another vid that is the same rifle just a different "ultra high" rail. That vid has him loading the rifle with stripper clips and you can see the spring loaded shell deflector more closely.
@huntingohiozs he's showing magazine changing since that's a common complaint about SKS detachable mags and also bullpups in general. If all you care about it ammo being fired there are plenty of other videos of guns being shot on youtube. personally I'm glad he loaded those mags short since I'm more interested in the ergonomics and mechanics of the system. I've owned an SKS for years, they always go bang. Glad to see those Tapco 20 rounders working so well.

I had hoped to get one of these stocks for review and use at the big two day DPMS shoot next month with over 1000 expected to attend and compete in the shoot.
For the SKS to accept magazines can you recommend any sites or specific brand to get, as well, do I just replace the existing magazine with some sort of contraption that goes by the trigger assembly or do I have to perform permanent alterations?
Searching google would have answered all your questions. To do detachable mags all you have to do is remove the fixed mag which does not require any permanent alterations... And as far as I know Tapco is the way to go for mag's....

Just because you had a bad experience doesn't mean others have. I have never had an issue with my tapco 20rd mags. As for turning the sks into something it's not... why not? The alternative to getting a "real" bullpup is expensive, and my sks just a boring cheap rifle that I don't mind "ruining".
I hate people who say if you want an AK buy an AK. It's not about looks sometimes kiddo, it's about getting a lead projectile accurately and effectively at a target. I'm not an AK expert but all I know is, I pick up an SKS aim at a target, fire, and the bullet hits where I want it. Where as on the AKs I've fired I use the same process, and the bullet goes where it wants.
@chuckybananas The gun is, the stock is not. Canadian laws prohibit an aftermarket stock that turns an existing gun into a bullpup. However you can buy guns that were originally in bullpup form.
Oh they look cool and everything, but Do you really want something for combat that has such a long trigger pull that you feel like you have to make a fist just to get a round off?
First off.. nobody in the states is going into combat with an sks.... secondly you haven't tried to gun, so you don't know anything about the trigger pull.
I just came from the gun show in Del Mar, Ca. This is an awsome stock! Way better in person. I loved it so much I went ahead and paid for it right then and there! Now it's just a waiting game. I'm hoping early March.

I can keep the grenade launcher on the muzzle and use a tapco operating rod or some other part, no?

seems like a cool concept, only problem is the conversion has taken a rifle known for its "i wont jam no matter what you do to me" qualities and has made it jam a few times just in this recording. it may not be the cheapest way, but the best "modernizing" method may be to use the cash one gets from selling their SKS toward something more modern like a robinson XCR, AR variant, etc.

@frmphxaz84 lmao, what are you talking about? The reason it jams is the junk 30 round magazine that was in it. 30 round mags for the SKS are notorious for feeding issues. Watch the vid again, if you think the stock has anything to do with that malfunction I pray you never become a gunsmith.

i like it, and am quiet interested. My only concer is brass ejection, SKS tend to fling brass up, do you have a brass delfector to keep the casings from hitting the shooter in the face?

@DaytonaRoadster yeah, there's another vid that is the same rifle just a different "ultra high" rail. That vid has him loading the rifle with stripper clips and you can see the spring loaded shell deflector more closely.

@huntingohiozs he's showing magazine changing since that's a common complaint about SKS detachable mags and also bullpups in general. If all you care about it ammo being fired there are plenty of other videos of guns being shot on youtube. personally I'm glad he loaded those mags short since I'm more interested in the ergonomics and mechanics of the system. I've owned an SKS for years, they always go bang. Glad to see those Tapco 20 rounders working so well.

@richtherake i see that yes i know that mag changes on bull pups can be cumbersome to say the least, but i want to see the durability of the stock when that barrel starts heating up

@huntingohiozs the overheating is something that I'm worried about also, I have one ordered and I'll try and get a review out for it. Relatively quick. Not sure if I want to push it until it melts though. Maybe to the point where I can smell plastic ;)

YEAHHH!!! Lets take an SKS and turn in into a space rifle!!! I'm sure that grenade launching sight that you still have on there comes in realllllly handy. AND lets show the rifle jamming with uber-gay 30 round mags on the product that we're trying to sell!!! Can I put a lazer on it? What about like 6 lazers and a few flashlights? Does it shoot better if I'm wearing all black tacticool gear with pouches on top of pouches on top of pouches? I bet it does. One word... GAY.

For the SKS to accept magazines can you recommend any sites or specific brand to get, as well, do I just replace the existing magazine with some sort of contraption that goes by the trigger assembly or do I have to perform permanent alterations?

Searching google would have answered all your questions. To do detachable mags all you have to do is remove the fixed mag which does not require any permanent alterations... And as far as I know Tapco is the way to go for mag's....

OMG WHY.... don't get me wrong i love the sks but why turn it into something it is not i have a Yugo and i found out real fast don't change anything on them like the fixed clip the dam thing will be unreliable with the removable mags if you want a AK buy an AK if you want a bull pup buy one don't butcher a good firearm and make it a unreliable piece of crap i see them all the time at gun shows

Just because you had a bad experience doesn't mean others have. I have never had an issue with my tapco 20rd mags. As for turning the sks into something it's not... why not? The alternative to getting a "real" bullpup is expensive, and my sks just a boring cheap rifle that I don't mind "ruining".

I hate people who say if you want an AK buy an AK. It's not about looks sometimes kiddo, it's about getting a lead projectile accurately and effectively at a target. I'm not an AK expert but all I know is, I pick up an SKS aim at a target, fire, and the bullet hits where I want it. Where as on the AKs I've fired I use the same process, and the bullet goes where it wants.

@chuckybananas The gun is, the stock is not. Canadian laws prohibit an aftermarket stock that turns an existing gun into a bullpup. However you can buy guns that were originally in bullpup form.

just saw this at COSTA MESA GUN SHOW, it is fucking bad ass. i bought an sks rifle and sadly ran out of $. it is romanian so i wont feel bad converting it. inovation is key in todays gun hungry world.
