  • samsara is the best album from CATHARSIS

  • why is this world sometimes fucking cold?!

  • loved the piano part, then jumped like a little girl when the guitars started playing 0_0

  • band: decent... singer: fucking TERRIBLE!!

  • @nason232004 fuck you.

  • @jovierina no thanks...

  • życie...

  • I've really lost my words...

  • Hey, to answer the uploader's question--this is the singer in this band, and it's true that I was arrested recently, but it's not a huge deal. I'm still on the front lines of social struggles, and that means engaging in clashes with the authorities and sometimes facing the consequences of those. I've got plenty of support from my comrades and I'm confident that things are going to work out. I want to emphasize that we meant what we were singing about--this shit is as real for me today as ever.

  • @rtdropbox what project are you working on? Do you have like a blog where we can follow your exploits? I´m currently in croatia doing volunteerwork on a project for orphaned bears (in Kuterevo). Not really the frontlines but what helps helps. Keep strong, mate.

  • @hatemonkey @hatemonkey OK, I got my charges handled, so I can talk about it. I can't get links to post here, so google "Three Arrests at Anti-Gentrification Occupation in Chapel Hill." That's the independent media coverage; the corporate coverage was hysterical and ridiculous, as usual.

As for keeping up with our efforts more generally, there's always the CrimethInc. website.

Still down, still fighting, full on to the end! Thanks so much for the encouragement and support.

  • @rtdropbox No worries mate. As a btw, is there any chance that Catharsis will ever play again? Never had a chance to watch you guys live when I was a kid.

  • This is not the original Catharsis who played at the old Boston Tea Party in the mid to late 1960's. I knew all of them

  • @Themouthlessman Source?

  • too good.

  • all time favorite!!

  • yes und ich hab das auf vinyl EPIC!

  • Fuck, world's awful.

  • fucking epic

  • hmm the screaming is pretttyy weak...too much from the throat...other than that...not bad..nothing i would listen to on a day to day thing..but i would def listen to it wen bored or mad...

  • @followthewicked666 gahhh...brian is one of my favorite singers ever

  • what album is this on?

  • @MarsRevival

    Band: Catharsis

    Song: Arsonist's Prayer

    Album: splitcd with Newborn

    Label: CrimethInc.

    Recorded: Acustairs Studio, May 2001

  • i appreciate all the work that went into this video, thanks for the contribution

  • @oplopanux no problem mate. it was fun making it.

  • @Ryeker3

    1) It's a totally different sound and genre.

    2) It's all about taste.

    3) Why did you think that your comment (especially the way you phrased it) would add any kind of value to your view?

  • it may be of interest to others that this is not the RUSSIAN catharsis, which isn't really a hardcore band as much as symphonic metal. really confusing when they're spelled the same, and both are pretty famous (I guess)

    FYI, this one's better

  • I liked it until the "Lyrics" started....

  • @kittface78 that's hardcore, now go bitch somewhere else.

  • @kittface78 guessing you didn't even read the lyrics.

  • I liked this more before I read "For if all this world is God's". I thought of it as more of a communist/ecologist music before that. But ok.

  • @mainmenu895 if you are implying that this is a christian song based on that quote, then I think you are mistaken.

"For if all this world is God's, and man a mere plaything of laws and things

Then why not raze it all, and in destroying at least set sail on borrowed wing?"

  • @hatemonkey It's all open to interpretation. I, for one, am a vegan. Each time people learn that, they somehow seem to conclude I'm religious. And then they ask if I am. I am the most atheist person you can imagine. Not that I believe there is no god. In fact, I consider that people who believe in it, believe in the same as me, they just chose the other option. I have no proofs, so I don't believe. Some people believe without proofs. It's up to each one how many facts suffice.

  • @mainmenu895 All this to say, that people often associate veganism and non-imposed (by laws against murder, rape, theft...) respect alltogether with religiosity. Extrapolating to music bands, vegan, ecologists and communists are often religious.

  • @mainmenu895 maybe you should read the rest of the lyrics so you know what you're talking about instead of hearing one word that makes you knee-jerk into a completely inappropriate response.

  • yeah. they were a crimethinc band.

  • this video is good, song is awesome. enough said...

  • 3:05 Are those bunnies about to get a Draize Test on them? If that is so let us give a minute of silence for their vain deaths.

  • @mainmenu895 'fraid so.

  • Love the melody, but a bit too 'hardcore ' for me when it comes to the vocal part. Oh well, lovely music nonetheless!

  • I do not prefer this "type" of music in general. Catharsis is something else, shows you that music is independent of style if you know how to play. And write lyrics of course. This is pure drama, this is perfect !

  • First time I've heard them.. I like their writing style; the whole song is one big creshendo..

    It's... Cathartic..

But it sounds like you've used an compresor, yeah? At least I hope it was you, I'd be bummed if that was something that the group would do..

    Anywhichamafackly, thanks.. Good stuff..

  • @theVylan sorry for the late response. Yeah I compressed the video, otherwise it was too big to upload to youtube. some quality was lost in the process, apologies etc

  • no worries,

it was fun making it :)

  • This song is awesome! I love the take-off when he repeats: "That blessed are the wombs that are barren. Blessed are the branches that bear no fruit. Blessed are the rivers run dry. For we have come to the end of the world"

  • yeah that's one of my favourite lines in the song as well.

but then again, the whole song is fucking awesome in my book ;)
