There is a multitude of layers that exists in this "conflict", perhaps looking at the info supplied by Bet Selem or look into Gush Shalom; perhaps they can give you a deeper appreciation. A reminder that critiquing Israel, a democratic state as you put it, is not antisemitic. There are many Israeli opinions that influence the state's actions; there is a significant force that calls for expulsion of "Israeli Arabs", continued settlements, etc. To use a sweeping statement "they are simply trying to live in peace" is an oversimplification that doesn't acknowledge many realities on the ground that exacerbate the problems. My sources are mostly Israeli based (referenced earlier). There are peaceful non-violent movements; you should look into them to expand your knowledge beyond only the violent resistance that is so well known and covered in popular media. @1culture1 that aside, Israel was formed from a British mandate, the borders, including Israel, were not choose by the people. Jews living in Syria, Jordan, Egypt, were forced to move to Israel, the Palestinians were however granted permission by the newly formed state of Israel to live amongst them. Israel is there, the Jews aren't leaving, so why can't the Palestinians just live in peace. Why must they blow themselves up in elementary schools? Nationalism is wrong, not self defense.

so why don't you focus on making Israel and its supporters accept that East Jerusalem is occupied territory (like everybody states, US included) and that arabs should not be evicted from their homes and in their place homes for Jews only are built (up to March 2010).
