i respect all martial arts, but some of the people in this video were putting their legs up too soon. Pretty easy to knock over some one on one leg. a good example is at 1:30 - 1:32 .
@noodlehead0 sorry but you are wrong..full contact means simly that you can hit with full power not the protective equipment worn. In this you are allowed to hit with full power. @ThePesilat I watched your silat tournaments and there is no punching or contact to the face..this makes your silat very different and a step down in terms of realism. This is considered by many to be some of the most realistic and tough traditional tournament systems anywhere. You should spend more time seeing what you can learn from other methods instead of putting down what you dont understand. and remember koshiki is open to all styles so if you feel strongly enter one and prove it.
@Torontokoshiki It's not supposed to be based on realism, its based on how one can best perform the form of art and technique -_- .. i bet your just another thug who likes seeing fights
@TheKinglouis119 I do like seeing good fights however I am definately not a thug. I do however believe that the way of the warrior requires one to test oneself in combat. The more realistic the combat the more self understanding that can be gained, and also the more confidence in the effectiveness of the techniques. The koshiki system is also open to all styles so what you see may not be the same as you are accustomed to seeing. Thats the beauty of realistic fighting you have to learn to adapt.
@TheKinglouis119 hey no worries friend, we are all trying to achieve the same thing there are just many ways to get there. The nice thing about the protection of koshiki is that we can fight really hard and still avoid alot of major injury..cheers
@TheKinglouis119 unrealstic stances and moves are useless martial arts is about becoming a greater person and many things and among that self defense if your silat isnt based on realism then either your martial art is a useless mess or your teacher is not good. bruce lee himself said it needs to be realistic. i dont know anything about that guy ^ but im no thug and not inexperience i was in tae kwon do for 4-6 years and just started shotokan karate last week because i moved to a knew place
@ThePesilat i have tried many fighting arts..and i find karate very effective.............every martial arts is effective..it all depends on who is the one using it or the persons killer instinct
The only thing that I don't like about this is... As a Kempo Karate practitioner this is not real fighting because when you are in a fight it is constant it dosent stop when you kick some one out of the ring or get a good shot in. I used to do sparing in tournaments before I got into Kempo but other then that these guys are forces to be reckoned with.
@kerkes145 actually the fighting in this system is only stopped when there is a break in the action..this allows the referee to keep track of all solid blows. and there is always the chance for any playerto score a TKO wheather they are down on pionts or not. cheers
Paul nice video! Greetings from Russian Koshiki Karatedo Federation! Glad to see you and Canadian team this October October in Berlin! The great Europeen Tournament will take place! Algerian, USA, a lot of Europeen teams confirmed their participation !
@Torontokoshiki The guys are just flailing their arms and legs around. They don't have very good precision with their strikes and blocks and so on. A much better fight is Kagawa v Ogura from the 1985 JKA All Japan Kumite Final. Just search it here on youtube.
@Selsiuss2 yes as i thought, you are trying to compare non contact with full contact..JKA is non contact so it looks more controlled...thae fact is that those non contact players have a hard time jumping to full contact..This is real..JKA is not real fighting..
@Torontokoshiki I bet your turning your nose up at me and sipping a fine wine thinking your opinion is better than mine. Its just opinion man. With JKA its pretty much the first hit gets a point, but here they flail around like crazy until the referee decides to give someone a point. With JKA you have to quick, precise, and accurate get a hit in before your opponent does but here they just brawl it out.
@Torontokoshiki Hey now lets not knock JKA, it is a great form of the art to study. Though, I agree with the idea of what you are saying, I think more practice should be down with full contact, in a controlled and safe manner of course. Typcially when needing to use your karate for defense, it's harder to do while in street clothes and with real contact, so the practice would be excellent and ideal for real life scnerios. Oss!
@MrJohnnySharp hi there..thanks for the comment..and dont get me wrong I dont think ill of JKA..on the contrary some of the players in this video are from JKA..but they compete in Koshiki which is full contact..so their fighting is real and good..these guys think its slopy but its just the reality of full contact. The beauty of this competition is its open to all styles so you really see a variety of strategies. cheers
@kelvs001 Don't worry about 30 - I re-started my training at 43 - it's great for your health and peace of mind and if you happen to join a Shorinjuryu Kenkokan / Koshiki Karatedo school, the equipment protects you in a way that you don't show up to work with black eyes, cut lips, broken noses, bruises and broken ribs. It is a style that you can practice as long as you feel the urge - DO IT!
I really hate that you must wear vest and helmet and gloves in order not to get hurt. But Martial Arts IS part of being hurt, thats the beauty of it!!!
@DrakullMenethil With out protection, it would have been one hit fights. A hit to the head like that is more than simply getting hurt and without protection, these guys would not hit that har...
@DrakullMenethil With out protection, it would have been one hit fights. A hit to the head like that is more than simply getting hurt and without protection, these guys would not hit that hard
no offense intended to any but this karate stuff isnt as interesting to watch as a normal street fight yinno i know nothing about karate but it seems like they stop the fights way to quick makes it kinda lame in my own opinion that is
Yo warddraw i take shito ryu also and im only 13 but im a black and i think itss good to no the basics but if ur this high up then u shud have some advanced moves in ur arsenal... Especially throws amd counters
hay all BLACK BELTS in karate please answer my quesion (those who are not black belts inles your insulting me or somthin piss off) but to the black belt in karate in the basic punches kicks throws all you really need? like what percentage of karate do you REALLY need to kick someones ass becase i took karate (shito ryu) and i have been getting by kinda well with the basics but i guess what im asking is is there somthin els that blackbelts can do that whight yellow blue ect cant?
@warddraw4 self defense techniques and takedowns help out, for example an attacker comes at you with a knife you want to disarm him not throw punches at him
My god. I've never seen a legit karate fight. The main thing I see in this, is fast ass kicks, and punches. They go from throwing a punch, and straight into kicking in the blink of an eye.
@MrSweetPotato if you think so prove it. koshiki is open to any style. however it seems that your ju jitsu instructor did not teach you humility as no serious martial artist would talk such trash. good luck to you mr invincible
@Torontokoshiki hay all BLACK BELTS in karate please answer my quesion (those who are not black belts inles your insulting me or somthin piss off) but to the black belt in karate in the basic punches kicks throws all you really need? like what percentage of karate do you REALLY need to kick someones ass becase i took karate (shito ryu) and i have been getting by kinda well with the basics but i guess what im asking is is there somthin els that blackbelts can do that whight yellow blue ect cant?
@warddraw4@warddraw4 the basics are great if you develope them to be strong ballanced techniques. but apart from that to be a good fighter you must practise fighting alot. after the basics are proficient you must develope strategy so that you can break down your opponent. then you must test yourself against more and more skillfull fighters. the better your opponents the better you will get.
@warddraw4 hey am not a black belt but i am going for my black belt in october and yes there are things that black belts can do that other colour is that they can perform kicks and punches much better than a lower belt that and they would have a better under staning of timing that what can make a good fighter but thats not the only thing that makes a good fighter things like speed, footwork stamina but just because someone is a black belt doesnt mean that they are better than u know what am sayin
@warddraw4 the basics are all u need u just have to make it your own the diff between a black belt and a yellow belt is a black belt has learned more and has a better state of mind
@warddraw4 Most important is Timing which is developed through experience it's like hitting a Baseball, correct timing will knock a ball out of the Park vs POWER. Superfoot Bill Wallace had 4 basic weapons. The left Hook, sidekick hook kick and roundhouse. As Bruce Lee said (paraphrase) The more dangerous man is the man who does a Technique 1000 times vs the man who knows a Thousand techniques. Blackbelt ...Shuri Ryu
@warddraw4 emm depends on what u whant to do me i go for not leting them make one punch so for that just be good at sparing and all of it for u i would say kk
simple answer - timing, once you have the basic strikes by Brown belt, what makes a good fighter is experience fighting many people, so they can get their timing down perfect - ie. strike at the right time, counter strike at the right time - this is based on experience and carefully paying attention when you fight
TR 3rd Dan (1989) - original student of M. Hisataka, Tokyo
@buri2zaemon hi thx for the comment. you are correct this type of competition is open to all styles..there have been champions from taekwondo, karate and kickboxing. these are highlights from different tournaments.
@MrSweetPotato hay all BLACK BELTS in karate please answer my quesion (those who are not black belts inles your insulting me or somthin piss off) but to the black belt in karate in the basic punches kicks throws all you really need? like what percentage of karate do you REALLY need to kick someones ass becase i took karate (shito ryu) and i have been getting by kinda well with the basics but i guess what im asking is is there somthin els that blackbelts can do that whight yellow blue ect cant?

@MrSweetPotato true... that these guys aren't pros or wat not but i cant tell to much then u can make it to where their at...one thing i can say is the do need to work on the balance and tough'n their structure... im not really sure wat fight style these guys do but when i took karate balance and body structures are really good main points of ur fights... dont dis other people just cuase u think u 've seen better...
@trendkill29 you obviously dont know anything about koshiki. True koshiki rules state that the technique to all scoring areas must have a retraction it states nothing about Light Tough. If you have ever been to an international koshiki tournament you wuold know how hard they hit. Go to sport karate if you cant handle the contact. or go to onr of the watered down koshiki groups in canada but somehow I think you are already a membber.
@trendkill29 Firstly The St jerome tournament is NOT an official International koshiki tournament. I would know as I am an official representative of the World Koshiki Karate Federation and also a student of Hanshi Masauki Hisataka. Who has been there when I won all 3 of my World titles and has never told me that I hit people too hard or that my technique is usless. But I guess you as a BROWN BELT champ, must know better than him. You should let me know your name as any honourable karateka would
@Torontokoshiki Yeah when I used to do karate with my old sensei before I went to like 3 sport karate tournaments and they are really cheesy and limited. I mean you can only hit to the stomach or chest -_- You can't kick or punch to the face whatsoever
@trendkill29 i dont know what school you are with , but clearly you have been miss informed as to koshiki rules as Torontokoshiki has pointed out. secondly i see you are from canada and you know who and what sensei Jackman had accomplished. i would say your comment was quite rude and un called for. I dont know what rank you are but your attitude seems poor. id be glad to demontrate some koshiki for you but i doubt you will make your identity known.

are there any koshiki schools in us? preferably California? i am practicing judo right now and have experience with karate, i would like to try koshiki.
thanks alot..it seems like everyone has a negative comment sometimes.. The style is a mix of Karate with Judo. The founder was also a 5th dan Kodokan Blackbelt. Check out my other vids..lots of great action. and a vid dedicated to the founder..my sensei Masayuki Hisataka.
where is the technique in any of this? Really it seems like just kicks and punches iwth no real technique, aside from the odd spinning backkick, or occasional leg sweep.Otherwise i just see 2 people rush at each other and flail with punches, maybe after a leading kick. I don't see any attempts at defense or redirection, certainly nothing from any karate katas, just taking and tossing random punches because they have safety gear.
you just dont know what you are looking at.. The defence used is mostly escaping motions because blocking full contact blows with the bare hands and arms is dangerous. You must understand that this is full contact so what you may consider to be good technique is probably based on a non contact system. it may not be as pretty but maybe you should try this type of fighting. and finally there are many principals from kata used hear, you just may not have been taught them.
Er, cause their hitting each other wiithout gloves. Kinda obvious. You either pad the fists like in boxing or protect the strike zones like here. The full contact nature of Koshiki is good but I think the high kicks in the vid only work because the hand work is not that great.
the only padding is the chest and face guard. other than that bare hands and feet. other sports pad the weapons instead of the target but they still use padding. this way is more realistic, like the street, no big hand pads to block with also no grabbing of clothes with big gloves and bare back.
Thats b/c belts are meant to hold pants up, not skill! Lol. If I had a enough money I could be any belt, polkadot, perrywinkle, chartreus, checkered leopard with a hint of lime, you get my point.
brentoniobell>>>This is a game, and they are trying to win points here....ofcourse street fight is different and nasty, a karate player could be a good street fighter, but ofcourse u dont hv to win points in a street fight.....I am a player of karate and had used it in street fights, and I hv won them too.....
Does Koshiki allow those with Spectacles to wear it whilst donning the supersafe body protection and helmet ?
I practice and teach my own style of Okinawan karate but with something similar to the supersafe equipment and i always allow the use of spectacles for those who cant see.
Quite the contrary, everything has a rhythm, and everything that has rhythm has consistantcy. Consistancy is grace. From Folk style to greco roman wrestleing, to mix martial arts. Still my point this is ineffective against a well trained and experienced fighter!!!!
The fighters you see here all indeed well trained and experienced. What would be infective? Many of these fighters have faught in many different arenas and are respected all over the world as top class fighters. What experience does your judgment come from? Who have you faught or are you just another youtuber who thinks he knows it all.
The purpose of martial arts is to render the opponent defenseless and or helpless, this is to slow, its fancy and meant to look good, but these guys don't even look good, yea I have tried the the basic kung-fu wing-chun, tae- kwon do, Okinawin karate who is taught by a 7th degree red and white belt. Point being all this jumpin around and kicking just makes you a harder target, but still a target. This you tube bloging is pointless if I can't show you. Oh and yea try fighting without legs!
you make me laugh!! Slow and Fancy? your eyes dont work. Also by the way, none of the martial arts you have named that you have practice are a full contact fighting systems. So clearly you are talking from a theoretic point of view. also remember that this video is just a compilation of short clips. yes it shows alot of kicking but that is not all koshiki is about ( that would be taekwondo) and we do fighting with hands only . I have faught mma and other styles. I fight for real you are a joke!
Come visit me or show up at a real fighting tournament. like all other you tubers you talk to much. or give me your address and ill come visit you. Ive been fighting full contact for over 10 years and have faught all over the world. I was trained in Japan by Masayuki Hisataka 9th dan. and by the way the red and white belt is just ceremonial they are not called red and white belts idiot, they are still black belts. my sensei wheres a red belt but he is not called a red belt.
Hmm, maybe I do have a problem, but, I've too many martial artists that don't know what to do when they are confronted with a style they are not prepared for. Put one these guys on there back, off there feet, than they become the idiot. You know what, its pointless writing this, I just have to show you!!!!!!!
true, unless you approach a practitioner also trained in grappling, like Brazilian Ju-Jujitsu. Not many people train in just one style anymore, from what I have experienced and tournaments like that are open style. Some of those guys are probably still pretty dangerous in a clinch or on their back.
you have absolutely no idea if these guys arent trained on the ground. you're just making an assumption because they are stand up fighters. didnt you see the throws these guys did?
They are still a basically one to maybe two dimensional fighters, look at the way they punch, I would love to fight someone who punched like that, Flawless Victory, heehehahaha!
1:12, the guy who got kicked in the head, wouldnt have been able to pull off that sweep after a kick like that if they were wearing no protection, so for realistic simulation maybe padding isnt the answer? Though it is still a great training method none-the-less.
one little thing i really (agravated) its smarter to throw punches before you throw kicks cuz they will( as you saw in the video) catch your kick (more importantly) they will see it coming...
throw a punch from your best angle and crash your elbow down on he head get both hands on the back of their head and start a barrage of your strongest accurate knees to their face :P
i dont think any of the ufc fighters stick strictly to their fighting style... hence mma. ur right silva is very light on his feet and uses angles probably the best in mma, but i really dont know whos telling u tai fighters dont use angles to cutt off and corner oponets etc... we all do... at least i hope. at the same time i dono how ur saying silva isnt a thai fighter, he doesnt stick strictly to the form, but his push kicks, wild elbows, clinches and knees deff resemble a lot of muay thai.
The techniques you mention do not only exist in muay tai they are very apparrent in Karate elbows knees ect..and a push kick is just another word for a front kick. Dont you see that tai did not invent any of these techniques. If you practice with many people from different styles you would see that these techniques exist in almost all full contact styles. Its just because tai is popular because of MMA. look at Kyokushin and Daido Juku Karate. because they dont fight in ufc dont mean they cant.
ah I see you are in Canada. If you are near Toronto, you are welcome to come to my club and test out your theory. like all other tai fighters before you, all are welcome
we could go on and on about this, the point is, u combine a muay thai fighter and a jiu jitsu fighter and u got the best fighter in the world, aka anderson silva :) . u should try and teach him some of the technique or strategy.
well Anderson silva is a great example of a tai fighter who doesn't fight like a typical tai fighter..He fights more like a Karateka like lyoto Machida..Movement escaping and angles..Thanks you proved my point for me.
many muay tai have tried and there has never been a tai fighter to win in this sport. There is alot more movement in this sport that tai fighters have problems. Tai is a closer range fight than koshiki also there is no throwing or takedowns in tai so when they clench they get thrown. you should try before you judge.
i dono i train muay thai my self, and i beleive muay thai is a lot more practical...
i dont mean to be disrespectfull or anything since i see ur fighting mma and stuff so u probably know a thing or two about the subject. i just think muay thai is hands down the best stand-up style...
what do you think is more practical about it? first of all tai is done without a shirt on. in the street you almost have close on this allows you to grab the close and use it to your advantage. in tai you where gloves which prevents you from grabbing with the hand and fingers. Koshiki allows this. Also training always with bare hands is also more practical and you get to harden and strengthen the natural weapons. also usuing koshiki equipment allows you to practice all your technique (cont)
with full contact on a real moving target. Again I will stress movement..in Tai things like escaping movements and usuing movement to create angles of attack are not focused on. These are utilized to the fullest in Koshiki. As for power..if youve never been hit by a good koshiki fighter then you dont know..the power we develop by training bare hand with hard protective equipment is second to no style and I have tested this over many years. I have faught many tai fighters over the years (cont)
and my technique and strategy have alyways prevailed. I have also trained tai style and know what it entails. And finally if you watched my mma fight you would see I faught a tai fighter. Now yes I did loose the fight but my striking was much better than his and if you look at his nose in the interview after the fight you will see what I mean. I look forward to your reply young tai fighter.
lol you make it sound so simple... good luck "exploding" at muay thai legs bro. oh and anyone with any ground knowledge knows the basics of sprawling. ive only been in wrestling for 2 years and taking people down is harder than it looks. if the thai fighter has any take-down defense he has a higher chance of winning than a fighter fighting any other style.
hey man i cant believe i'm going through this and i found you on it...i miss the intense training we used to go through...hey everyone watching this clip i dont think you guys realize how hard this guy is really hitting the mask...even with the padding there is nothing fake about this all hardcore
this video is awesome, i am an older man here in arizona, and have been training in shotokan for 45 years, and am always looking for ways to improve my training. where do you get that armour? thank you for showing those nice techniques.
I do kung fu and I say, this is how karate should be trained. There are the same problems about kung fu being practiced with bad sparring, as in some karate, but there are youtube videos where there are Shotokan karate practicioners sparring in slightly restricted kumite with bloddy faces (this same practice is present in Japanese police too). Likewise, there is a thing called sanshou, which means free fighting in Chinese. It is a venue where Chinese martial arts practicioners fight full contact
actually the founder of Koshiki, Masayuki Hisataka, hepled in China to develope the Sanshou fighting competition. The gear id different but the idea is the same..
Thanks for YOUR comment and remember (adress it to t3h humaniteeh) don't forget to realize that unity with the universe and all that or smth like this. I try atleast. All the karate and kung fu has one thing in common: there is no you or me (which are divisive but useful labels, which we use out of convenience) only the universe in which these technically perfect whole body power punches, kicks, throws and such arize. Got out of hand didn't it. :) I don't think so. :9.
Sorry to say but I agree with idcross. It doesnt look at all like karate nor respecting the principles. What are the rules? I saw a nice Mawashigeri jodan and the referee didnt even move?
i respect all martial arts, but some of the people in this video were putting their legs up too soon. Pretty easy to knock over some one on one leg. a good example is at 1:30 - 1:32 .

With JKA you have to quick, precise, and accurate get a hit in before your opponent does but here they just brawl it out.
Selsiuss2 11 months ago
@Torontokoshiki I know I probably have no say in this but even I look better than these guys and I have never stepped one foot inside of a dojo.
Rukia392 11 months ago
@Torontokoshiki Hey now lets not knock JKA, it is a great form of the art to study. Though, I agree with the idea of what you are saying, I think more practice should be down with full contact, in a controlled and safe manner of course. Typcially when needing to use your karate for defense, it's harder to do while in street clothes and with real contact, so the practice would be excellent and ideal for real life scnerios. Oss!
MrJohnnySharp 10 months ago

@warddraw4 @warddraw4 the basics are great if you develope them to be strong ballanced techniques. but apart from that to be a good fighter you must practise fighting alot. after the basics are proficient you must develope strategy so that you can break down your opponent. then you must test yourself against more and more skillfull fighters. the better your opponents the better you will get.
take care

@warddraw4 hey am not a black belt but i am going for my black belt in october and yes there are things that black belts can do that other colour is that they can perform kicks and punches much better than a lower belt that and they would have a better under staning of timing that what can make a good fighter but thats not the only thing that makes a good fighter things like speed, footwork stamina but just because someone is a black belt doesnt mean that they are better than u know what am sayin
bruceleefan123 1 year ago
@warddraw4 the basics are all u need u just have to make it your own the diff between a black belt and a yellow belt is a black belt has learned more and has a better state of mind
RXJ7 1 year ago
@warddraw4 Most important is Timing which is developed through experience it's like hitting a Baseball, correct timing will knock a ball out of the Park vs POWER. Superfoot Bill Wallace had 4 basic weapons. The left Hook, sidekick hook kick and roundhouse. As Bruce Lee said (paraphrase) The more dangerous man is the man who does a Technique 1000 times vs the man who knows a Thousand techniques. Blackbelt ...Shuri Ryu

jackm6487 1 year ago
simple answer - timing, once you have the basic strikes by Brown belt, what makes a good fighter is experience fighting many people, so they can get their timing down perfect - ie. strike at the right time, counter strike at the right time - this is based on experience and carefully paying attention when you fight

You should let me know your name as any honourable karateka would

impressive, does koshiki mix in judo? nice sparring/throwing combos. very fun to watch.
to those who have nothing good to say you either dont knwo what you're talking about or you have not been practicing martial arts long enough.
MrGingerb0y 2 years ago
where is the technique in any of this? Really it seems like just kicks and punches iwth no real technique, aside from the odd spinning backkick, or occasional leg sweep.Otherwise i just see 2 people rush at each other and flail with punches, maybe after a leading kick. I don't see any attempts at defense or redirection, certainly nothing from any karate katas, just taking and tossing random punches because they have safety gear.
jdtwk123 2 years ago
you just dont know what you are looking at..
Torontokoshiki 2 years ago
how come no one moves sideways?
thinkfaster 2 years ago
Er, cause their hitting each other wiithout gloves. Kinda obvious. You either pad the fists like in boxing or protect the strike zones like here. The full contact nature of Koshiki is good but I think the high kicks in the vid only work because the hand work is not that great.

whats up with all the padding ???
reggie2770 2 years ago
the only padding is the chest and face guard. other than that bare hands and feet. other sports pad the weapons instead of the target but they still use padding. this way is more realistic, like the street, no big hand pads to block with also no grabbing of clothes with big gloves and bare back.

Funny, about as graceful as a three legged elephant!!!
trombonedemon 2 years ago
its contact fighting its not supposed to be gracefull.
Torontokoshiki 2 years ago
Quite the contrary, everything has a rhythm, and everything that has rhythm has consistantcy. Consistancy is grace. From Folk style to greco roman wrestleing, to mix martial arts. Still my point this is ineffective against a well trained and experienced fighter!!!!
trombonedemon 2 years ago
The fighters you see here all indeed well trained and experienced. What would be infective? Many of these fighters have faught in many different arenas and are respected all over the world as top class fighters. What experience does your judgment come from? Who have you faught or are you just another youtuber who thinks he knows it all.
Torontokoshiki 2 years ago
The purpose of martial arts is to render the opponent defenseless and or helpless, this is to slow, its fancy and meant to look good, but these guys don't even look good, yea I have tried the the basic kung-fu wing-chun, tae- kwon do, Okinawin karate who is taught by a 7th degree red and white belt. Point being all this jumpin around and kicking just makes you a harder target, but still a target. This you tube bloging is pointless if I can't show you. Oh and yea try fighting without legs!
trombonedemon 2 years ago
you make me laugh!!
Torontokoshiki 2 years ago
Come visit me or show up at a real fighting tournament. like all other you tubers you talk to much. or give me your address and ill come visit you. Ive been fighting full contact for over 10 years and have faught all over the world. I was trained in Japan by Masayuki Hisataka 9th dan. and by the way the red and white belt is just ceremonial they are not called red and white belts idiot, they are still black belts. my sensei wheres a red belt but he is not called a red belt.
Torontokoshiki 2 years ago
WOW it's not really suppose to look good wow you have a problem. They don't have to look good while fighting you idiot.
amardyll 2 years ago
Hmm, maybe I do have a problem, but, I've too many martial artists that don't know what to do when they are confronted with a style they are not prepared for. Put one these guys on there back, off there feet, than they become the idiot. You know what, its pointless writing this, I just have to show you!!!!!!!
trombonedemon 2 years ago
true, unless you approach a practitioner also trained in grappling, like Brazilian Ju-Jujitsu. Not many people train in just one style anymore, from what I have experienced and tournaments like that are open style. Some of those guys are probably still pretty dangerous in a clinch or on their back.
oorah187 2 years ago
you have absolutely no idea if these guys arent trained on the ground. you're just making an assumption because they are stand up fighters. didnt you see the throws these guys did?
brayden12345 2 years ago
They are still a basically one to maybe two dimensional fighters, look at the way they punch, I would love to fight someone who punched like that, Flawless Victory, heehehahaha!
trombonedemon 2 years ago
MAN WOULDENT WANT TO MESS WITH YOU LOL.
serialchiler 2 years ago
1:12, the guy who got kicked in the head, wouldnt have been able to pull off that sweep after a kick like that if they were wearing no protection, so for realistic simulation maybe padding isnt the answer? Though it is still a great training method none-the-less.
farorin 2 years ago
one little thing i really (agravated) its smarter to throw punches before you throw kicks cuz they will( as you saw in the video) catch your kick (more importantly) they will see it coming...
throw a punch from your best angle and crash your elbow down on he head get both hands on the back of their head and start a barrage of your strongest accurate knees to their face :P

Some really great comments for this clip, I like a bit of discussion as long as its respectful.
hologram1001101 2 years ago
i dont think any of the ufc fighters stick strictly to their fighting style... hence mma. ur right silva is very light on his feet and uses angles probably the best in mma, but i really dont know whos telling u tai fighters dont use angles to cutt off and corner oponets etc... we all do... at least i hope. at the same time i dono how ur saying silva isnt a thai fighter, he doesnt stick strictly to the form, but his push kicks, wild elbows, clinches and knees deff resemble a lot of muay thai.
ludeman21 2 years ago
The techniques you mention do not only exist in muay tai they are very apparrent in Karate elbows knees ect..and a push kick is just another word for a front kick. Dont you see that tai did not invent any of these techniques. If you practice with many people from different styles you would see that these techniques exist in almost all full contact styles. Its just because tai is popular because of MMA. look at Kyokushin and Daido Juku Karate. because they dont fight in ufc dont mean they cant.
Torontokoshiki 2 years ago
ah I see you are in Canada. If you are near Toronto, you are welcome to come to my club and test out your theory. like all other tai fighters before you, all are welcome
cheers
Torontokoshiki 2 years ago
we could go on and on about this, the point is, u combine a muay thai fighter and a jiu jitsu fighter and u got the best fighter in the world, aka anderson silva :) . u should try and teach him some of the technique or strategy.
ludeman21 2 years ago
well Anderson silva is a great example of a tai fighter who doesn't fight like a typical tai fighter..He fights more like a Karateka like lyoto Machida..Movement escaping and angles..Thanks you proved my point for me.
Torontokoshiki 2 years ago
wow muay thai would fuck shit up here
ludeman21 2 years ago
many muay tai have tried and there has never been a tai fighter to win in this sport. There is alot more movement in this sport that tai fighters have problems. Tai is a closer range fight than koshiki also there is no throwing or takedowns in tai so when they clench they get thrown. you should try before you judge.
Torontokoshiki 2 years ago
i dono i train muay thai my self, and i beleive muay thai is a lot more practical...
i dont mean to be disrespectfull or anything since i see ur fighting mma and stuff so u probably know a thing or two about the subject. i just think muay thai is hands down the best stand-up style...
ludeman21 2 years ago
what do you think is more practical about it? first of all tai is done without a shirt on. in the street you almost have close on this allows you to grab the close and use it to your advantage. in tai you where gloves which prevents you from grabbing with the hand and fingers. Koshiki allows this. Also training always with bare hands is also more practical and you get to harden and strengthen the natural weapons. also usuing koshiki equipment allows you to practice all your technique (cont)
Torontokoshiki 2 years ago
with full contact on a real moving target.
Torontokoshiki 2 years ago
and my technique and strategy have alyways prevailed. I have also trained tai style and know what it entails. And finally if you watched my mma fight you would see I faught a tai fighter. Now yes I did loose the fight but my striking was much better than his and if you look at his nose in the interview after the fight you will see what I mean. I look forward to your reply young tai fighter.
Torontokoshiki 2 years ago
what hes trying to say if your my thai i crouch wait for you to make a move and explode at your legs #1 grab one leg, face out at the opposite leg
#2 put fore arm behind knee sqeeze tight
#3 grab ankle of other leg
#4 heave your shoulder into lower pelvic area
#5 take down
#6 mai thai = useless
bradleycontois 2 years ago
lol you make it sound so simple... good luck "exploding" at muay thai legs bro. oh and anyone with any ground knowledge knows the basics of sprawling. ive only been in wrestling for 2 years and taking people down is harder than it looks. if the thai fighter has any take-down defense he has a higher chance of winning than a fighter fighting any other style.

MaBu888 3 years ago 3
Hello there,
thanks for your comment,
actually the founder of Koshiki, Masayuki Hisataka, hepled in China to develope the Sanshou fighting competition. The gear id different but the idea is the same..
Torontokoshiki 3 years ago
Thanks for YOUR comment and remember (adress it to t3h humaniteeh) don't forget to realize that unity with the universe and all that or smth like this. I try atleast. All the karate and kung fu has one thing in common: there is no you or me (which are divisive but useful labels, which we use out of convenience) only the universe in which these technically perfect whole body power punches, kicks, throws and such arize. Got out of hand didn't it. :) I don't think so. :9.
